On November 19, 2020, the National Standard Announcement of the People's Republic of China (No. 26 [2020]) approved two national standards, "Desktop Oolong Tea" and "Technical Specifications for The Processing of Desktop Oolong Tea". Taiwanese oolong tea originated in Fujian and occupies an important position in cross-strait trade. Taiwanese oolong tea has Jinxuan (Taiwan Tea No. 12), Qingxin Oolong, Four Seasons Spring, Cuiyu (Taiwan Tea No. 13), Tieguanyin, Jasper (Taiwan Tea No. 19), Yingxiang (Taiwan Tea No. 20), Qingxin Dajie and Short-footed Oolong and many other varieties.

In this lecture, Professor Sun Weijiang conducted a professional analysis around the "Technical Specifications for the Cultivation and Management of Taiwanese Oolong Tea Plants". The selection and planning of tea plantations, tea plant planting, farming, fertilization, pruning, picking, pest control and natural disaster prevention and control are explained in detail.
The growth of tea plants is inseparable from scientific and reasonable cultivation methods. Therefore, tea plantation should be planted in a place with fertile soil and sufficient light; the best planting techniques and relevant standards should also be applied to ensure that the tea plantation is orderly. Regarding the planting of tea plants, it is necessary to select varieties, demarcate planting lines, open planting ditches, apply bottom fertilizer, colonization time, and planting method density.
It is understood that the normal growth of tea plants should be combined with the fertilization management of tea gardens, and there are corresponding laws in the selection of fertilizers and the timing of fertilization methods. Any plant growth will be infested with diseases and insects, and tea plant growth is no exception. During the planting period of tea plants, prevention should be the mainstay and comprehensive prevention, priority should be given to the application of agricultural control, biological control, physical control, and the comprehensive use of agronomic measures such as harvesting, tillage, and fertilization, and as little or no chemical control methods as possible should be used.

Before the occurrence of high temperature and drought, straw, weeds, chaff, wood chips, etc. can be used to cover the tea garden ground; when the temperature reaches 35 °C or the average daily temperature is about 30 °C and lasts for more than a week, or the soil water content of the tea garden is less than 70% of the water held in the field, it is advisable to carry out irrigation in time.
Before preventing frost damage, straw, weeds, etc. are used to cover the bare ground of the tea garden; it can also be used to spray water and install electric fans to blow air. After frost damage occurs, the frozen branches should be cut off in a timely manner and the topdressing should be increased.
For the prevention and control of wet damage, it is necessary to analyze the causes of wet damage, and adopt measures such as reducing the groundwater level, trenching and drainage, and shortening the residence time of runoff in low-lying places.
