2021 National Chess Team Championship: The Hangzhou Branch of the Chinese Chess Academy won the men's and women's championships

On October 19-28, the 2021 National Chess Team Championship was successfully held in Liaocheng, Shandong Province. After 9 rounds of fierce competition, the men's and women's teams of the Hangzhou Branch of the Chinese Chess Academy both won the championship. They also became the sixth team in the history of the national team competition to win both men and women at the same time!

A total of 16 teams competed in the men's group and 10 teams in the women's group. The men's competition is 9 rounds swiss and the women's group is 9 rounds of single round robin.

In the men's competition, the Hangzhou Branch of the China Chess Academy, composed of Ma Qun, Bai Jinshi, Xiang Zeyu, Lin Yi and Zhu Hengyi, won the championship with six wins, two draws and one loss. Throughout the game, several players played steadily, losing only 1 set in 36 games, and a horse in the team played 8 times, winning 4 wins and 4 draws, with a performance score of 2776 points, which was the highest performance score in the whole game.

The Tianjin team, composed of Dai Changren, Wang Shishu, Chu Weichao and Zhao Zhouqiao, scored 14 points per game, but due to their loss to Hangzhou in the fourth round, they were finally relegated to the second place.

The Shandong team composed of Bu Xiangzhi, Wen Yang, Zhao Jun, Huang Renjie and Xiao Tong was the runner-up winner of the first two national team competitions, and they won four wins and five draws and scored 13 points in this competition, although they were the only unbeaten team in the game, they had little to win and finally ranked third.

Chongqing, Jiangsu, Beijing, Chengdu, Zhejiang, Hubei and Shanghai ranked 4-10th respectively. Among them, the Beijing team, which has won three consecutive championships in the past three times, has not been neatly arranged this time, and has lost three games in succession, and finally only ranked sixth.

In terms of prologue, Wang Shishu of Tianjin team and Xu Minghui of Zhejiang team each received an international master (IM) preamble.

In the women's competition, the Hangzhou Branch of the China Chess Academy, composed of Yu Ting (coach and team member), Lu Miaoyi, Yan Tianqi and Zhao Shengxin, won the championship with eight wins and one loss and 16 points per game.

In the game, Yu Ting did not play, and Lu Miaoyi, who was only 11 years old, sat on one and fought all over the masters, winning 3 wins, 5 and 1 loss in 9 rounds. The second Yan Tianqi and the third Zhao Shengxin remained unbeaten in the whole game. The whole team worked very well together. Lu Miaoyi and Yan Tianqi also received a Female International Master (WIM) preamble.

The Jiangsu team, composed of Shenyang, Guo Qi, Zhang Xiao and Cai Boheng, finished second with six wins, two draws and one loss. The Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau Chess and Card Sports Center team, composed of Zhai Mo, Yang Yijing and Guo Weibao, ranked third with 12 points in the field with five wins, two draws and two losses. Among them, Zhai Mo played 5 wins and 4 draws in the whole game, with a performance score of 2425 points, and was the best female chess player in the whole game.

The last champion, Shanghai and Hebei, scored 12 points per game, but due to the disadvantage of small points, they ranked fourth and missed the medal. Tianjin, Beijing, Zhejiang, Shandong, Chengdu and Heilongjiang finished 5-10th.

It is worth mentioning that the men's and women's teams of the Hangzhou Branch of the Chinese Chess Academy won the championship this time, and also became the sixth team to win the male and female championships at the same time after the Zhejiang team (1982), Sichuan team (1986), Shanghai team (1993), Guangdong team (2002) and Beijing team (2017) in the history of the national team championship!
