"In the picture, a person respectfully serves a bowl of dishes, slowly opens the wrapped lotus leaf, and a toad pops out of it, and the guests are all surprised..." This is a shot of the major revolutionary historical drama "The Age of Awakening" broadcast in a golden file in the central government recently. In the picture, Chen Duxiu, played by Yu Hewei, has a fierce quarrel with his two sons, and the eldest son calls him by his name, hysterically accusing the ruthless and unjust Chen Duxiu... On the surface, their "wrongdoers" are intolerable, but in fact, they have a deep affection for father and son.

First, the "wronged" father and son: pay attention to family style and attach importance to children's education

The Chen family is a famous scholar in Anqing City, Anhui Province. Chen Duxiu attaches more importance to his children's ideological education and personality cultivation, although he has been running around for many years and gathering less and more with children, he is very concerned about their education and growth. According to Chen Duxiu's recollection, when the children were young, Chen practiced the method of "edutainment and education", such as "while playing games with him, on the other hand, teaching him to learn, making the children happy and happy, willing to be taught." Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian were his eldest and second sons, and on the surface they were intolerable, but in fact he was doubly protective. In 1915, Chen Duxiu brought his two children to Shanghai to study. Chen Duxiu adopted the family style of "creating a future by himself" and let his children live in the store of the "New Youth" magazine distribution office of the Far Eastern Library, and gave them 10 yuan per month for living expenses. In 1917, the Chen brothers entered Aurora University, began to work and study half-time, ate flatbread every day, drank tap water, and lived a life without mosquito nets in summer, cotton clothes in winter, and a jacket that did not leave the body for four seasons. Seeing that the brothers were so poor, Chen Duxiu's family and friends even tried to persuade Chen Duxiu when they saw them, and they often blamed Chen Duxiu, but Chen Duxiu, who was well versed in the difficulties of life, insisted that "young life, listen to his own future can also be." The Chen brothers also insisted on not asking for help from their father, not receiving family assistance, but tempering themselves in a difficult environment.

Second, the father and son of the "wrongdoers": guide the conversion of faith in communism

After the beginning of the New Culture Movement, various currents of thought spread widely. The Chen brothers, who lacked the ability to recognize truth and fallacy at the time, chose anarchism. At the end of 1919, under the influence of the new trend of "work-study", it was decided to study in France. In France, they have endured hardships, especially after the Sino-French Education Association broke away from the economic relations with Chinese work-study students, and a large number of students who lost their financial support have lived a wandering life. In order to make a living, the Chen brothers worked as cheap sand turners in the factory. In 1921, Chinese work-study students studying in France rose up one after another to protest and launched the "228" study movement and held demonstrations. During the "228" study movement, they successively became acquainted with Cai Hesen, Zhou Enlai, Wang Ruofei, and other communists, and received great encouragement and help from them, and gradually began to believe in Marxism and actively participate in the revolutionary activities of the communists.

In August 1922, Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian joined the French Communist Party. The news reached the CPC Central Committee, which aroused great attention from the CPC Central Committee, and Chen Duxiu, then chairman of the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE of the CPC Central Committee, was also very pleased. Subsequently, the CPC Central Committee officially recognized the members of the Communist Group in Europe and the comrades who joined the French Communist Party as members of the Communist Party of China, and established the CPC Branch in Europe, and Chen Yannian, Zhou Enlai, Zhao Shiyan, and others were selected as the leaders of the CPC Branch in Europe. In the spring of 1923, Chen Duxiu arranged for the Chen brothers to enter the Communist University of Eastern Laborers. The systematic study in Soviet Russia enabled the Chen brothers to improve their theoretical level by leaps and bounds. After the three major ccps, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party began to cooperate. In 1924, Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian were ordered to return to China and devote themselves to the revolutionary torrent.

Father and son of the "wrongdoers": Revolutionary comrades are commensurate with blood thicker than water

After returning to China, the Chen brothers successively held important posts in the party, and the father and son of the "wrongdoers" belonged to Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Beijing, and the daily contact and correspondence were called "comrades" to each other. Although the feelings are cold on the surface, in fact, the love between the father and son of the "wrongdoers" is thicker than the water. During the Northern Expedition, although Chen Yannian once criticized Chen Duxiu mercilessly: "Comrade Duxiu is one-sided and subjective, lacks a correct analysis of the national situation, and it is wrong to oppose the Northern Expedition." But when Chen Duxiu lost contact with the CPC Central Committee in Shanghai, and even when there was no news, Chen Yannian rushed around to inquire, and finally put his mind at ease when he learned that his father was safe and sound. In addition, on April 27, 1927, the Fifth National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held, Chen Duxiu succeeded him as general secretary, and Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian were elected as members of the Fifth Central Committee at the same time, which was also the only time in the history of the Communist Party of China that he was a "father and son member".

Iv. "Wronged" Father and Son: Generosity is the righteousness of his father and weeps bitterly

On June 26, 1927, Chen Yannian was arrested, and Chen Duxiu immediately tried to rescue them, but their lives were in danger due to the exposure of Chen Yannian's identity. In prison, Chen Yannian suffered all kinds of torture and experienced all kinds of torture, and he strengthened his ideals and convictions and did not divulge any secrets of the party in the slightest. The angry enemy decided to execute them. On July 4, Chen Yannian and three other comrades were killed by the Kuomintang reactionaries on the banks of the Maple Forest under the Longhua Pagoda in Shanghai, especially Chen, who was unwilling to kneel and be tortured, was hacked to death by the enemy and sacrificed his precious life. Before his execution, he shouted with his arms raised: "Long live the Communist Party of China!" "Down with the Kuomintang reactionaries!" Bad news ensued, in February 1928, Chen Qiaonian was arrested and imprisoned, the enemy tortured Chen Qiaonian in a variety of ways, tortured and interrogated in a vain attempt to obtain more information about the party, and Qiao Nian gritted his teeth and persevered. Finally, on June 6, 1928, Qiao Nian fell under the gunpoint of the enemy, and a moment before his inauguration he still shouted "Long live the Chinese Communist Party." Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian were killed by the Kuomintang one after another, which made Chen Duxiu feel bitter. Depressed, sad, and disappointed, Chen Duxiu borrowed wine to pour sorrow, often crying and weeping bitterly. He raised his glass with a trembling hand and said, "Yan Nian, Qiao Nian, Father makes this cup for your brothers!" When he finished, he sprinkled the wine on the ground and sighed in the sky.

When the Chen brothers died heroically and heroically for the revolution, Chen Yannian was 29 years old, and Chen Qiao was only 26 years old, and they were Marxists who had made outstanding contributions to the cause of the Chinese people's revolution. In September 2009, with the approval of the Cpc Central Committee, the Central Propaganda Department and 11 other departments jointly selected 100 heroic model figures who made outstanding contributions to the founding of New China and 100 Chinese who have touched the founding of New China, referred to as "Double Hundred", and Chen Yannian was rated as one of the 100 heroic model figures who made outstanding contributions to the founding of New China.

After the sacrifice of the two brothers, the story of the deep love between the father and son of the Chen family's "wrongdoers" finally ended.
