Starting May 1, she will hike to the Qinghai-Tibet Line through the no-man's land of Coco Siri, with the overall route "Golmud City - Coco Siri - Lhasa".

On June 10, Meimei entered the no-man's land of Coco Xili, during which time she has been posting videos to share her journey and heart.

Until August 21, Meimei's live broadcast screen appeared abnormal, the video showed: at about 7:44 a.m. that day, she was pushing a cart on the road, suddenly issued a scream, the live broadcast screen also black screen, about 10 minutes, the live broadcast was closed.

On August 24, Xiao Jie, a friend who is also a hiker on the Qinghai-Tibet Line with the United States, said that Meimei died unexpectedly on national highway 109 on the 21st, which was a unilateral accident. As friends, they have assisted the local police in transporting Meimei's body to Golmud City, which has now been handed over to the family to deal with the aftermath.

Ms. Wang said in the video that the road section where meimei had an accident was under the jurisdiction of Golmud City, about 450 kilometers away from Golmud City. Because he was also on the footing of the Qinghai-Tibet Line at that time, not too far from Meimei, he rushed to the scene of the incident at 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon of the 21st.

According to Ms. Wang's description, Meimei had an accident because of the hand-pulled solar motorhome. "It should be that she accidentally touched the start when she was pulling the handbrake, and the car went forward to take Meimei down and rolled her into the bottom of the car, just on a slope, Meimei was stuck under the car, and finally suffocated."

"Because Meimei's car was stuck on the slope, people were pressed under the car, and the incident occurred earlier, the truck drivers along the way could not see her." Ms. Wang said in the video that between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. on the 21st, when the police arrived at the scene, Meimei had lost her vital signs. In the end, the police decided the case as an "accident" and issued a death report to the family.

Local police: Illegal crossing of no man's land is prohibited

The Beijing News reporter found that on September 4, 2020, the Golmud Municipal Public Security Bureau issued a "Notice on Prohibiting Tourism, Exploration, Illegal Crossing and Other Activities from Golmud to Coco Xili Nature Reserve in Yushu Prefecture".

The circular said that in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations and the spirit of the documents, all social groups or individuals are now prohibited from going from Golmud to the Kekexili Nature Reserve in Yushu Prefecture to carry out tourism, exploration, illegal crossing and other activities. From now on, all taxis and private cars that take passengers from Golmud to the Coco Siri Nature Reserve must first go to the public security organs for filing.

According to the above notice, The Coco Xili Nature Reserve is located between the Tanggula Mountain and the Kunlun Mountains on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with an average altitude of more than 4600 meters, a dry and cold climate, a serious lack of oxygen and fresh water, and a dangerous natural environment, known as the "forbidden area of life". Unauthorized tourism, exploration and illegal crossing activities in the Coco Xili Nature Reserve not only seriously damage the fragile plateau ecological environment, but also have great safety risks, and at any time will face life dangers such as lack of oxygen, lost, swamp traps and so on.
