Ossi cat

Historical origins
The Ossey cat, also known as the Ossey cat, has both the vigor of a wild cat and the calm temperament of raising cats. This cat was a relatively new breed after 1950 by American breeders, based on abyssinian cats, and Siamese cats, American shorthair cats. In 1964, Birginia Daly, a breeding specialist in Berkeley, Michigan, crossed the Siamese-Abyssinian cat with the chocolate accent color Siamese cat in hopes of obtaining the spotted accent color Siamese cat. One of the toddlers obtained was a male cat named Tonga, whose body was covered in ivory coat and had golden spots, but unfortunately the male cat was castrated. Daly then worked with other breeding experts, including Tom Bron, to continue the breeding effort. They used abyssinian cats, Siamese cats, spotted oriental shorthair cats, Egyptian cats and American shorthair cats for hybrid selection in order to obtain the morphological characteristics that Ossi cats now have. In 1986, the Ossey cat breed was officially recognized by the CFA. In 1988, TICA published the breed standard for it. Abyssinian cats are no longer allowed to hybridize with this breed. In 1989, the first Ossi cat was introduced to France. Although ossi is common in the United States, it is still rare in Europe.
Morphological characteristics
Ossie cats are characterized by their wild stripes. Except for the area around the neck and the tail, the whole body is covered with beautiful shiny markings. The body is full of weight, and the adult cat weighs 5 to 7 kg. It is similar in size to the Abyssinian cat, with a slightly longer carcass, deep thorax and wide width, hard bones and strong muscles, strong and muscular limbs, a wedge-shaped head, medium-sized ears, large and almond-shaped eyes, and a slightly squared nose.
Although the appearance of Ossi cats and wild cats are very similar, giving people the illusion that they are very arrogant and fierce, but in fact, they are very friendly, they like to be with their owners, but also like to have families with children, their feelings are rich enough to make you feel that their appearance is very incompatible with the inside. Their friendliness is not only reflected in the relationship with the owner, but also for the friends who come to the house as guests, they will not make an unfriendly sound of "squeaking". In addition, Ossey cats are very fond of children, so owners do not have to worry about children and cats can not live in peace, perhaps the feelings between them are much deeper than those between you and cats. It should be noted that ossi cats are not friendly to other cats, so when two cats meet, there will be a fight.
Ossi cats are also lively and active cats that seem to be very interested in everything. If you look closely, you can see that they are playing with this one and touching that one at a time. They want their owners to interact with them more, and if you don't have enough time, you may want to prepare more toys for the cat, so that the cat is depressed due to loneliness and boredom. Because Ossey cats are active, it is best for owners to prepare a cat climbing frame for them, so that they will not occupy your bookcase and other furniture because they want to ascend. Owners should also place fragile items in the home to prevent cats from touching them while exercising.
Dietary knowledge
The Ossi cat is a lively and active cat, and the owner can give them snacks in addition to giving them a meal. The taste of the snack can be selected according to the cat's preferences, but the snack should not be served too much, otherwise it may cause the cat to be obese. If the cat is more likely to be hungry because of the amount of exercise, the owner can appropriately increase the supply of meals.
We all know that cats don't like to drink water, but if the cat is dehydrated, it may cause the cat's normal balance to be broken, and some smart owners will feed the cat cans to help them hydrate, which is indeed a good way. It should be noted that although the water content of canned food is high, the cat will be hungry in a short period of time, so it is also necessary to eat it with other staple foods.
Osie cats also need to supplement the amount of calcium, iron, vitamins and other trace elements, so the owner must ensure that the nutrition of the Occidental cat food is balanced to avoid cat malnutrition or trace element deficiency. Once the cat shows any symptoms of malnutrition or trace element deficiency, the owner should cooperate with the veterinarian to treat the cat in time.
Conservation knowledge
As a new breed cultivated artificially, many people's maintenance of Ossi cats seems a bit strange. In fact, the maintenance of Ossey cats is the same as most cats, can not feed salty food, can not be too diligent bathing and so on. To help novice owners better breed Ossi cats, we summarize the following points:
Brushing
If possible, ossi cats should be brushed at the given time to reduce the invasion of bacteria caused by inflammation of the gums.
Eye care
Often use wet cotton to remove excess mucus and clean the skin around the eyes.
Ear care
Check the inner auditory canal regularly.
Joint care
Arthralgia is a common disease in elderly pets, and if ossi cats reach a certain age and cannot move enough, they can gently massage muscles or move limb joints for it while it is resting.
bathe
Before bathing, you should prepare bath utensils, such as bath tubs, bath towels, detergents, combs (preferably one end is thin, one end is dense), brushes, etc. The water temperature should not be too low when bathing, nor too high, and it is advisable not to be hot; the detergent used should not be too irritating, so as not to irritate the skin; ordinary Ossi cats should comb the coat before bathing to prevent entanglement; the bathing action should be rapid, as far as possible in a short period of time; after washing, the hair should be dried with a bath towel immediately, and when the temperature is low, it is best to cover it with a special towel quilt or other warming supplies to prevent colds.
Beauty common sense
Daily care of fur can not only remove dirt, lice, anti-hair bulbs, so that the hair of the Occidental cat looks smooth and shiny, it is also conducive to blood circulation for the Ossey cat, promotes the metabolism of the skin, and regularly pets the Ossi cat can also check its physical condition.
Grooming is done with a comb for Ossi cats. Although most Ossi cats do not like to be groomed, the long-haired breeds will wrap around and destroy the fur pattern if they are not groomed every day. Therefore, about two months after the birth of the Osie cat, it is necessary to start grooming it so that the Ossi cat can gradually adapt.
Comb through every day at a fixed time, from start to finish. When combing to the waist, turn the Ossi cat over and comb from the neck down to the abdomen. To comb without leakage, even the tip of the tail can not be spared. When combing, the comb is at right angles to the skin. Even if the comb is hung a little bit, press the root of the hair with your fingers to comb the upper part first, and then comb the root of the hair. The abdomen and tail are the easiest to knot, so be particularly careful.
Bristles prevent hair removal, irritate the skin, promote blood circulation and make the hair shine brighter. Short-haired varieties can be brushed when the dirt is obvious, and usually only need to be gently touched with wet hands to prevent hair removal and defolking. Long-haired varieties should be given once a day for 5 minutes.
