On the afternoon of October 26, Zhang Lin, secretary of the Wuhan Xingang Working Committee and director of the Management Committee, investigated the normal operation of the second phase of Yangluo International Port-Water-Rail Intermodal Transport and announced the first launch of the domestic trade special train. Liu Zhenxing, leader of the New Port Commission, and others participated in the investigation.

The first special train loaded a total of 60 TEUs, the main transport of goods for edible vegetable oil, the batch of goods from Taizhou, Jiangsu Province through the waterway to Yangluo International Port Water-Rail Intermodal Phase II, the goods disembarked in the port area of the railway yard directly on the train to Shaanxi Xi'an, Weinan and other places. The first launch of the "Wuhan Port - Xi'an" special train truly realizes the "seamless docking" of water and rail, and the second phase of the Yangluo Port Water-Rail Intermodal Transport Project has achieved normal operation.
It is understood that after the normalization of the second phase of the water-rail intermodal transport project, the port shore bridge is expected to have a maximum operating efficiency of 29 TEUs/h, and the port can achieve a maximum single-day air and heavy container operation volume of about 2,000 TEUs in 2021. It is estimated that in 2022, the second phase of the water-rail intermodal transport project will be equipped with 5 shore bridges, 9 automated rail cranes in the port area, 4 automated rail cranes in the railway area, and 2 railway operation lines can realize the whole train operation. The "Yankou Station - Xianglushan Station" section of the Jiangbei Railway has been opened in July 2021, and it is planned that by the end of 2022, the "Yankou Station - Huangzhou Station" of the entire Jiangbei Railway line will be included in the operation of the State Railway Network.
Qiu Jincheng, managing director of Wuhan COSCO SHIPPING Port Terminal Co., Ltd., said that after the normal operation of the wuhan-Xi'an special train, it will initially implement one train per week, and the next step will be two trains per week, and will successively open special trains from Wuhan to Chengdu and Urumqi.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Jiangbei Railway Company of wuhan railway bureau, the railway department will also work with port operators to promote the realization of "iron-water combined transport" in the future, that is, the goods distributed to the project through the railway can be shipped to various ports along the Yangtze River through water, and even directly to Japan and South Korea through river-sea intermodal transport.
