Hong Kong's premier musician Lai O-tin passed away at 7:55 this morning at the age of 73. Lai was hospitalized for pneumonia in May this year and has been reported by Hong Kong media to be in deteriorating health. Previously, his friend said in the circle of friends that Li Xiaotian had lung cancer, but the news was denied by his assistant. The news of Li Xiaotian's death this morning was announced by his secretary.

Li Xiaotian's last show before his death was TVB's singing program "50 Years of Popular Classics", and Li Xiaotian's host partners in the show, Xue Jiayan, Hu Nuoyan and Chen Minzhi, all visited him in the hospital. According to Hong Kong media reports, until yesterday, it was reported that relatives and friends had successively received notifications from Lai Xiaotian's family and rushed to the hospital to see him for the last time.
Lai Oda, formerly known as Lee Tin Ying, known as "Brother Oda", is a famous veteran composer and record producer in Hong Kong. He was born into a musical family, his father was the famous composer Li Caotian, his mother was the writer Yang Lijun, and his sister was the modern dance choreographer Li Haining.
A child actor who started filming at the age of 5, Lai studied in the UK and in the 1960s, Lai began working as an orchestra foreman. In 1973, Lai Xiaotian won the third place in the first composition invitational competition of TVB Television and began his music writing career.
In 1975, Li Xiaotian and Xue Jiayan began to co-host the variety show "Jiayan and Oda" on Li's TV station. The show was all the rage at the time and became the ace of Leigh's television station, at which point Lai began releasing records. In the mid-1970s, when Li Xiaotian's career took off, the theme song of the TV series was basically completed by Li Xiaotian and Lu Guozhan and O'Jinbao in the TV station at that time.
During this period, Li Xiaotian composed many popular songs, such as "Residual Dreams", "When People Shed Tears on the Journey" and so on. Of course, Li Xiaotian's achievements in music do not stop there, in 1982, Li Xiaotian transferred to TVB's Huaxing Entertainment Company as a music director, and he has successively won famous singers such as Mei Yanfang, Zhang Guorong, and Lü Fang.
Li Xiaotian and Gu Jiahui were both named the musical godfather of the theme song of the TV series. So far, Li Xiaotian has composed more than 100 musical works, basically active in the 70s and 90s, and there are many classic songs, such as Guan Zhengjie's "Grace of the Earth", Chen Lisi's "Ask Me", Zhang Guorong's "Nong Ben Amorous", Mui Yanfang's "Like a Fire Tango", Eason Chan's "Crying in the Party" and so on.
In 2001, Li Xiaotian played a role in the TVB TV costume comedy "Everyone Is Happy", and had many rival scenes with Xue Jiayan. Later, in the TVB variety show, the two appeared in front of the audience again as classic screen partners.
In terms of feelings, Li Xiaotian has had two marriages, and at the age of 24, he married his girlfriend Luo Jinxia, and the two had a son. After the divorce, he rarely heard him mention his ex-wife and son again, and in 1982, Li Xiaotian married singer Guan Juying, but unfortunately announced his divorce two years later. In 2006, he co-hosted TVB's TV music program "Super Beautiful Voice Acting Foyer" with his ex-wife Guan Juying, and the two still maintained a good relationship after their divorce.
There are also rumors that Xue Jiayan is actually the object of Li Xiaotian's pursuit for many years, but it has not been successful. Presumably, the two old partners who have worked together for many years, Xue Jiayan, should be sad to hear the news of Li Xiaotian's death.
