Synopsis
"Have You Ever Seen a Firefly" is a fictional theater work with a strong narrative. In this drama, a 30-year-old single woman returns to her hometown during the epidemic, and she resumes a long time with her parents because of the opportunity of losing her job. During this time, she re-understands her parents' marital relationship, reconciles with her mother's past, tries to confront her father's choices and experiences, and re-examines the intimate relationships she has experienced on this basis.

The director's words
The script for "Have You Ever Seen a Firefly" was completed in the first half of 2020, when I "stayed" in my hometown for nearly half a year due to the epidemic, and my planned life suddenly came to a standstill for half a year. But it was also because of this completely unplanned "stagnation" that I gained an experience of "equal" communication and communication with my mother due to my age and my status as an "outsider" who was not often at home.
During this time, I was able to learn entirely from the life situation of my parents, to understand the experiences of their generation that had emerged but had not yet been written into conclusion, and then to perceive that the marital tragedies, love regrets, and even broken lives buried in daily life were actually due to the invisibility of some social, historical, and ideological structure.
From this experience, I began to write the script "Have You Seen The Fireflies", trying to recreate the part of the story that has been invisible for a long time in the daily life, discussing feminism, maternal status, the differentiation of the urban-rural dualistic structure in China's development process, and the relationship between other places and hometowns... I also had the privilege of contacting friends to present this story in a form that was as close to the drama as possible through online rehearsals.
The Beijing International Youth Day version of "Have You Ever Seen a Firefly" will be a re-rehearsed version based on the original script.
Team Introduction
"The Others" is a young independent theatrical creative team, based on the existence of the theater as a public space, using drama to respond to the current life. We try to use unlimited media and interactive forms to jointly explore the diverse possibilities and forms of existence of theater in this era.
