Chen Xiaowen from Taipei is the chief referee of the competition. When Chen Xiaowen first came to Suzhou in 2002 to work hard, there were very few local Taiwanese beauticians. "When I participated in the first Suzhou Beauty Salon Professional Competition, I was the only Taiwanese among all the contestants."

In Suzhou, Chen Xiaowen married a young man from the mainland and had a pair of lovely children; the family became the first batch of Taiwan compatriots in Jiangsu Province to receive a residence permit for Taiwan residents; his career was also booming, and now he is the principal of a beauty salon school in Suzhou. Since 2019, Suzhou has begun to hold the Cross-Strait Image Beauty Art Invitational Competition, and Chen Xiaowen is pleased to see that Taiwanese players, including his sister, have come to the mainland to participate in the competition in groups, and everyone can feel the beauty of the mainland and learn the way of beauty.

This year marks the 17th year that Mandu Group, a well-known chain brand in Taiwan's beauty salon industry, has entered the mainland, and the number of chain stores in the mainland has grown to 87.

Looking back on the past 17 years, Lai Chi-lang, chairman of the Group's international business, said: "Taiwan's beauty salon industry started early, and when it first arrived in the mainland, its mainland counterparts were very active in learning our technology and management methods. Now, the beauty salon industry in the mainland is developing rapidly, and we are also beginning to learn from our mainland counterparts. Holding the cross-strait image beauty art invitational competition is helpful to the growth of both sides and also promotes the friendship between beauty and hairdressing practitioners on both sides of the strait. I hope that similar events can be held more often. ”

Taiwanese player Huang Meijun was born into a cross-strait marriage family, her father is Taiwanese, her mother is mainlanders, and she often participates in cross-strait exchange activities. She said: "In the competition, I learned a lot and corrected some of the previous bad habits. Exchanges can enhance understanding and mutual trust between young people on both sides of the strait, and I will actively participate in cross-strait exchange activities in the future and become a bridge for young people on both sides of the strait. ”

Since she married her Taiwanese husband, Deng Ke, a mainland girl, has become interested in Taiwanese culture, including the unique makeup of Taiwan's ethnic minorities. "Their signature makeup is black eyebrows, big red lips, and all kinds of headdresses and face paintings represent different meanings, which makes me very curious." Therefore, my entry this time is to restore the makeup of Taiwan's ethnic minorities, hoping to deepen the mainland people's understanding of some of Taiwan's local cultures and increase cultural exchanges and understanding between them. ”

Zhang Tao, deputy director of the Suzhou Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office, said that Suzhou has continued to hold cross-strait image beauty art invitational competitions, which has made important contributions to strengthening technological innovation and exchanges in the beauty industry on both sides of the strait, promoting the improvement of the skills and quality of employees and the healthy development of the industry. It is hoped that the competition will further promote exchanges, exchanges and blending between the two places, so that the seeds of cross-strait exchanges, cooperation, and integrated development can take root and grow strongly, and contribute to jointly promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and realizing the peaceful reunification of the motherland.
