Motherhood is a new-line film directed by Todd Field and starring Kate Winslet (as Sarah) and Patrick Wilson (as Brad), released in the United States in 2006.

Although this film has been released for a long time, the classic good drama is always worth watching. The film tells the story of a "spiritual extramarital affair" between Brad, a young, full-time father, and Sarah, who is also doing housework with children at home.
Sarah is a learned young woman who, after having children, takes care of family chores full-time, and many times, she feels that life is very depressing, and staying in the room with her daughter seems to be crazy. This is also the psychological and emotional problem that many stay-at-home mothers face in reality, without their own time and socializing, life is so boring.
On the playground where the children play, Sarah meets the prom king in the eyes of other housewives, who will feel nervous about Brad's appearance, and even consider what clothes they want to wear and put on makeup, but never have the courage to greet Brad. Because of a bet, Sarah became the target of the bet.
After a brief exchange, Sarah learns about Brad's life and the helplessness of being a stay-at-home father, only because she finished law school but failed to pass the qualifications. Sarah felt that Brad was very honest and so easy to open her heart, which her husband Richard could not do, and at this moment, she had an inexplicable liking for him. A simple hug, a kiss that can't help but make ripples in each other's hearts.
Sarah didn't feel guilty about it, just felt extremely confused, as if she had been abducted by an alien, and then released her. And Brad has a crush on Sarah because of a kiss, although Sarah is shorter than his wife and does not have the charm of a woman, she still enters her own world, as if to fulfill his mysterious wish to forget the promise.
Such two people have found the passion of each other's hearts in life, and it is difficult to determine whether this is true love or because the boring full-time life makes the lonely heart seek a little comfort!
In the family, Sarah wished to have her own time every day for a fitness walk, but husband Richard preferred to do unspeakable things in the study after work rather than with the kids. After Sarah bumped into Richard's behavior, she was surprisingly quiet, except that she could no longer hold back her true thoughts. She opens up another side of her life, and Sarah's psychological journey can be seen from the interpretation of the character of Madame Bovary in the book. Unwilling to accept a miserable life, she chose to fight, and although she ultimately failed, the process of resistance was beautiful, even heroic.
The "chance encounter" by the pool allowed Sarah and Brad to have a second intimate contact, and also began the relationship between the two people's extramarital affairs. Unwilling to face exams again, Brad never went to the library to read books, and even spent a wonderful two-person world with Sarah during exam time. The wife was completely unaware of this, but the women were all sensitive, and soon she noticed the change in Brad and invited Sarah's family as a guest. After confirming his suspicions, the battle to defend the family began.
Sarah's relationship with Brad grows deeper and deeper, and even feels that the weekend without Brad is painful, and she can no longer restrain her emotions, and she decides to fly away with Brad. But reality is reality after all, and many people can't desperately run to what they want. Brad was unable to attend the appointment due to an injury playing skateboarding, and Sarah woke up from a dream because of her daughter's momentary disappearance.
If you say pure feelings, Sarah and Brad have them, what you are looking for must be something that is missing in life, and the dependent arising is extinguished, in an instant. Brad is a somewhat irresponsible man, unfaithful to his wife, unmotivated in his career, and to Sarah, but a little skateboard can be forgotten. Like many men and women today, because of the difficulties of life, they look for an emotion in the real world that can comfort the soul, but they never intend to take responsibility for themselves and others.
The story of the film is a true portrayal of many real men and women, and art comes from life. To let go is to be at ease, and many times, you should think about what you have.
