On the occasion of this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, coinciding with the death of Zheng Kluw due to illness, more than 100 experts, colleagues and disciples from 40 universities and research institutes across the country came to Shanghai to discuss Zheng Klu's academic thought, and the number of online and offline participants exceeded 2,000 to explore how his translator, scholar and teacher trinity were integrated.

Throughout Zheng Klu's academic thought, always maintaining an independent consciousness, basing itself on the perspective of Chinese literature and culture, standing at the peak of the domestic academic circles, having an equal dialogue with the Western academic circles, and capturing the signals of the changes of the times, is an important reason why it has been able to lead the academic circles, win readers and become a phenomenon.
Chen Zhonghui, a member of the Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that Zheng Klu was one of the earliest scholars in China's academic circles to launch a charge, and his translation of Western modernist literature caused strong repercussions at that time. Zhu Zhenwu, head of the National Key Discipline of Comparative Literature and World Literature at Shanghai Normal University, director of the Foreign Literature Research Center, and the chief translator of books such as the best-selling novel "The Da Vinci Code", also said that mr. Zhu Zhenwu's self-consciousness of criticism had already taken Western literary and art theory as early as decades ago or even half a century ago.
It is worth noting that Zheng Klu's insight into oriental literature has also subverted the world literature centered on European and American literature, and Mr. Zheng paid full attention to Asian and African literature when he edited the "History of Foreign Literature", and to a certain extent realized the theoretical reconstruction of foreign literary history.

Zheng Klu was low-key and frugal throughout his life, and his works in this life were as many as 47 volumes, with a total word count of about 40 million words. Among them, translations occupy the most important position. As a cross-border figure spanning the translation industry, the academic creative circle and the readership, his translation ideas are full of home and country feelings, never translating the works of second-rate writers, and only dedicating the essence of French literature to Chinese readers.
Scholars believe that this "Zheng Klu phenomenon" highlights the responsibility and responsibility of translators, and also highlights the knowledge and accumulation of translators. Professor Cao Shunqing of Sichuan University said that Mr. Zheng's translation integrates multiple perspectives, takes the strengths of many families without superstitious authority, and has won the love of readers and the recognition of history, and it is no accident that it has become a cultural phenomenon. Li Weiping, president of the Shanghai Foreign Literature Society, also said that the "Zheng Klu phenomenon" reflects the ideal model of the translator, which is the valuable wealth he has given to the translation industry.
As a disciple of Zheng Klu and also a translator, Zhu Zhenwu, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Humanities and Communication of Shanghai Normal University, believes that at present, it is necessary to rethink what kind of higher education China needs, what kind of literary translation it needs, what kind of academic research it needs, and the "Zheng Kluoor phenomenon" has made the best answer.

He has not only cultivated a group of scholars with cultural self-confidence and critical self-consciousness, but also his works have become the learning and academic memories of groups of undergraduate and graduate students.
Professor Jiang Chengyong of Zhejiang Gongshang University even used Hugo's famous quote - "Works are more than years" to describe the teacher. He and 12 Zhengmen disciples, including Professor Li Rucheng of Qingdao University, still remember how the teacher encouraged students to achieve "three more": "read more, think more, write more". When specifically guiding students to write, he also urged students to "prefer to be deep and not widespread, and avoid large and complete", proceed from empirical evidence, proceed from China's reality, and speak with first-hand materials.
As for the identity of "Mr. Big" who is a teacher and a model, Chen Heng, vice president of Shanghai Normal University, who taught at a university before Zheng Klu's death, said that Zheng Klu has created a rare "Zheng Klu phenomenon" in the history of Cultural Exchanges between China and foreign countries, literary research, and literary translation, and can be called a model for cross-border scholars of "research, creation, translation and teaching".
