Since learning that Mr. Mei Baojiu suddenly fell ill and fell into a coma on the last day of March, as a lifelong fan of Peking Opera, I have been looking forward to the miracle of Mr. Mei waking up from his dream every day, however, the sky did not fulfill people's wishes, and the bad news spread throughout the world. It is no exaggeration to say that in the past few days, "the mountain will not hate and break the heart, and the water will leave the sound into the dream stream" (Tang Luo's hidden sentence), and the two circles of the two circles are recalling in mourning, Mr. Mei Baojiu's artistic achievements, inheritance of life, and the well-known approachable and humble character. And what I want to say is an anecdote about Mr. Mei Baojiu's interaction with an old farmer in Xingtai.
It all started 40 years ago. On the evening of September 30, 1981, the three troupes of the Beijing Peking Opera House performed at the Xingtai People's Theater with Mei Baojiu's "Farewell to the Overlord", which is a classic play of Mei Pai and performed by Mr. Mei Lanfang's concubine, and it is difficult to find a ticket in Niucheng. It was night, I took my youngest son Jie'er to watch, and when I entered the market, I suddenly met Ge Shiying, a ticket friend who came to see the play from Ren County, who would pull Jinghu and sing laosheng, and we often played and sang together. After the play, he found me again and invited me to meet Mei Baojiu backstage, although I am a regular visitor to the People's Theater, it is easy to go backstage, but it is difficult to see the actors, not to mention that Mr. Mei Baojiu is such a "big" "wrist". I thought of a way, found the theater manager Zhang Gaosheng, explained the intentions, Manager Zhang promised to go around, and said: "You must wait until Mei Baojiu finishes removing her makeup and then go to meet!" "I think, with the face of Manager Zhang, this matter is nine out of ten." Because Mei Baojiu's father, Mr. Mei Lanfang, established a deep friendship with Manager Zhang Gaosheng during his performance in Xingtai on May 4, 1958, the group photo of Mei Lanfang, Zhang Gaosheng and Wang Dongjiang preserved in the People's Theater is a testimony.
Those who ask for it will receive it, and the blessed one shall not be busy; those who bow down to themselves shall be respected, and those who are of high quality shall be respected. Mr. Mei Baojiu did meet me and Ge Shiying after removing his makeup, and I once described the scene as "humble and respectful, such as treating guests", which is not exaggerated at all. At that time, Mr. Mei Baojiu was smiling, and his hands were clasped together as if they were making a gesture, and I was flattered to reciprocate with the same gesture, while praising his performance tonight for being very hard and effective, and thanking him for taking the time to meet him. Ge Shiying said even more bluntly: "I am an old farmer who loves Peking Opera, I watched your father's "Noble Concubine Drunk" back then, and today I watched your "Farewell to the Overlord", and it is enough for the Mei family drama to watch these two plays. Mr. Mei Baojiu smiled and said, "Xingtai is the place where my father came, and the people of Xingtai have seen my father's performances. Next, Mr. Mei Baojiu asked us about our love for Peking Opera, and also pulled a few homely words. Before leaving, Ge Shiying also asked Mr. Mei where his home was in Beijing, and Mr. Mei made an introduction without hesitation, and said: "You are welcome to come to my house when you go to Beijing." ”
Ge Shiying and his wife are passionate about Peking Opera, he has three daughters and a son, each of them can sing two, and the eldest daughter also loves Mei Pai singing. After he returned home, he told the whole family about being received by Mei Baojiu in the backstage of the People's Theater, and to the fans of Ren County, and said to everyone: "So great artist, so authentic Mei Pai's descendants, actually said this and that to me, an old farmer and a kind person, there is no big actor shelf at all, but I have burned high incense!" He decided to visit Meifu in Beijing on the right day.
One day in the spring of the following year, I was sitting idly at home, overheard the sound of knocking on the door, it turned out to be the old man Ge Shiying, his ass was not yet seated, he said to me: "Old Immortal, I went to Beijing, I saw Mei Baojiu, people politely let me to the main seat, I was afraid of my own dirty, I wanted to go outside to dust dust, people Mei Baojiu said, don't pay a price, here is your home, where are the people who are afraid of dirty when they go to their own homes!" He said: "People made me a good meal, told me to eat well, and said that they asked me to stay in Beijing for two more days, and they had the opportunity to show me two Beijing operas!" I asked him, "Then why did you treat Mr. Mei with such hospitality?" He said, "How dare I?" We, an old farmer, can't cause trouble for others. "He told me that when he bid farewell to Mr. Mei, he left him 10 yuan, as well as a handful of burnt paper and a handful of incense. He said to Mei Baojiu, it will soon be the Qingming Festival, when you go to visit your father's grave, buy some offerings for him, pay tribute to Mr. Mei Lanfang, the master of Peking Opera, and Mr. Mei Baojiu also nodded to him and thanked him.
It seemed to be an ordinary meeting, but it fascinated an ordinary peasant ticket friend. Since that year, every Qingming Festival, the elderly Ge Shiying was allowed to go to Beijing to visit Mr. Mei Baojiu, and every time there was a visit, he had to leave 10 yuan and incense paper offerings, and every time he came back from Beijing, he would always come to my home and "report" to me in a colorful way (Ge Shi English) How he was treated with courtesy by Mr. Mei Baojiu, and I would be greatly touched by Mr. Mei Baojiu's humble, gentle and humble character every time.
