In 263 AD, on the fifteenth day of the first month of the following year after the start of the War of Shu, Zhong Hui led an army into Chengdu. The next day, according to the plan, Zhong would invite all the guards, county guards, tooth gatekeepers, military and military officials above the rank of cavalry governor, and former shu han courtiers to assemble above the Shu court. At the rally, Zhong Hui mourned Empress Guo, who had just died last month, and falsely claimed that he had received a will from Empress Guo. The edict clearly mentions that Zhong Hui should lead an army to serve the king, get rid of the Sima family that had controlled the government for many years, depose the first emperor and kill the first emperor, and kill Sima Zhao, the duke of Jin. Zhong would pass on the forged edicts to the officials and generals present one by one, and let them express their views. All the invitees present were stunned and looked at each other, but because they were afraid of Zhong Hui's obscenity, they did not dare to directly raise objections, but they did not actively express their positions, and had to be vague. Zhong Hui had already anticipated that these people would not easily submit to him, so he wrote a letter of appointment on a wooden board, replaced the important positions of each army with his own cronies, and imprisoned all the officials and generals who refused to rebel in the houses of the subordinate officials in the former Shu court, and sent soldiers to guard them strictly.

(Zhong Huiping Annihilation of Shu Han Tu)
The first step of the rebellion plan was completed, and Zhong Hui began the next move, equipping Jiang Wei's Yizhou army with weapons and equipment. Qiu Jian, the overseer of the Clock Society (equivalent to the future commander of the Guard Company), suddenly asked Zhong Hui for permission to arrange for a soldier serving tea and water for the imprisoned protector Hu Lie. It turned out that Qiu Jian was Hu Lie's old subordinate, reliable and understanding, and Hu Lie later recommended Qiu Jian to Sima Zhao and became Sima Zhao's retinue. Because Zhong Hui often discussed plans with Sima Zhao, Zhong Hui often met Qiu Jian, had many friendships, and liked Qiu Jian very much. When Zhong Hui wanted to lead an army to cut down Shu, he asked Sima Zhao to let Qiu Jian accompany him. Qiu Jian, seeing that his old commander Hu Lie was being held in solitary confinement and alone, was very worried, so he begged Zhong to allow Hu Lie to choose a soldier to serve him. When Zhong Hui saw that it was Qiu Jian's intercession, his heart softened, so he agreed to Qiu Jian, and at the same time, afraid that others would say that he was unfair, he assigned each imprisoned general a personal soldier to serve.

Hu Lie and the others were originally anxious in the place where they were being held, afraid that Zhong would rebel and would affect them, but they could not contact their own troops. But it happened that this clock would allow a soldier to approach them, and Hu Lie and the others were simply overjoyed. So Hu Lie made up a set of lies to deceive his relatives and soldiers: "Qiu Jian secretly told me that Zhong Hui had dug a big pit and prepared thousands of large wooden sticks, and wanted to call in all the Wei troops stationed outside the palace, and each of them was rewarded with a white silk hat, pretending to be to seal the rank of general, but in fact he wanted to kill them one by one with wooden sticks and bury them in the pit." Hu Lie wrote these words on a small note for the soldier to hide and secretly handed it to his son Hu Yuan, who was waiting in the barracks. Most of the other imprisoned generals also used such tactics to get their own soldiers to pass on messages to their troops stationed outside the palace. As a result, in just one night, the news that Zhong Hui was going to kill the Wei army outside the Guanggong Palace spread all over the place. Every soldier in the barracks wanted to rush into the palace to kill Zhong Hui and rescue his commander, but they were afraid that they were weak and unable to confront Zhong Hui, so everyone was hesitating. At this time, the sound of the wind outside the palace outside the Wei Army also passed into Zhong Hui's ears. At this time, some of his cronies suggested to Zhong Hui that all the imprisoned generals who refused to rebel should be killed to prevent these generals from being rescued by their own troops and command their troops to rebel against Zhong Hui. Zhong Hui was afraid that because of this incident, he would completely anger the Wei soldiers, but it would be unfavorable to himself, so he was also hesitating. In the blink of an eye, two days had passed, and the soldiers stationed outside the palace were becoming more and more impetuous day by day, afraid that Zhong would really extend the butcher knife to his neck. At noon on this day, Hu Lie's 18-year-old son Hu Yuan finally couldn't bear it, and led his father's subordinates to attack the Shu Han Palace City with war drums, and the other military camps saw that someone was picking their heads, although no one urged them, they also beat the war drums one after another, and followed Hu Yuan to attack Zhong Hui and rescue their commanders.
(Jiang Wei, who is bent on Han)
The Clock Society was busy distributing weapons and armor to Jiang Wei's troops and preparing to attack Hanzhong. Suddenly, a soldier came running to report that there was a noise outside the palace gate, probably a fire. Zhong Hui listened and did not think so, and sent someone to extinguish the fire. But not long after, more soldiers came running to say that the noise was the sound of the army attacking the city. Zhong Hui was suddenly panicked and overwhelmed, facing such a sinister situation, even if he was extremely clever, he could not think of a good plan. In a hurry, Zhong Hui had to ask Jiang Wei next to him how to be good. Jiang Wei was still relatively calm, but there was no good plan, and he said to Zhong Hui: "Now only by desperately resisting can we have a glimmer of life." Jiang Wei's calmness made Zhong Hui calm down a little, and after thinking about it, Zhong Hui thought that the soldiers in the current mutiny were still just a rabble, although the number was large, but there was no rule, they must not let their commanders return to the side of the troops, once the mutinous soldiers had a command, then they must not be able to resist the attacks of these soldiers. So Zhong would send troops to kill all the officials and generals who were imprisoned, and the people in the house saw that someone was coming to kill them, and hurriedly raised several house doors together. Zhong Hui's soldiers could not cut the door with their knives, and the two sides remained deadlocked. After a while, some mutinous soldiers erected ladders to climb the tower and set fire to the city. So the large army outside miyagi attacked from the castle tower, and for a time the killing sound was tremendous, and the arrows rained down. The Zhonghui soldiers who were surrounding the detention center saw that something was wrong and fled one after another. The imprisoned generals and officials each ran out of their houses to join their own troops. In this way, the morale of the troops under command was greatly boosted, and they went to kill the Zhong Hui camp, and at the gate of the camp, they encountered Jiang Wei leading zhong hui's relatives to come out to suppress the rebellion. The Wei soldiers had already resented Jiang Wei, and at this time, they were even more angry, so they besieged Jiang Wei. Although Jiang Wei was extremely skilled in martial arts, he was helpless and old, and after killing five or six people with his own hands, he was killed at the age of 63, along with Jiang Wei's wife and son. Angry Wei soldiers chopped up Jiang Wei's body to vent their anger and found that Jiang Wei's guts were as big as a bucket. Jiang Wei was in a different place, and the great cause of reviving Shu Han was also aborted. Wei Jun, who killed Jiang Wei, rushed to kill Zhong Hui, and Zhong Hui could not resist and was also killed, only 40 years old. Since the huainan counter-rebellion, poor Zhong Hui has never miscalculated in planning major events, and the first miscalculation has paid the price of life.
At the same time that Zhong Hui and Jiang Wei were killed, a large number of Wei Shu officials suspected of helping Zhong Hui rebel and hundreds of loyal soldiers were also killed. Among them were Liu Xuan, the prince of Shu Han, Zhang Yi, the general of Shu Han's left car, the late general of Shu Han, the eldest son of Sima Jiang, the general Jiang Bin of Suiwu, and the second son, The Prince' servant Jiang Xian. Because there was no one to control them, the rebels even burned and looted the people of Chengdu, and the corpses were scattered all over the field for a time. Zhong Hui's subordinate Pang Hui was the son of the Cao Wei general Pang De, who was captured and killed by Guan Yu during the Battle of Fancheng due to a flood. Pang hui took advantage of the turmoil in central Shu to lead his troops to the Residence of the Guan family and cut off the Guan clan all over the door, leaving the old and the young behind, and the poor generation of martial saints was extinct. The unrest lasted for several days before it gradually stabilized, leaving Chengdu devastated.

Taking advantage of the chaos in Chengdu, Deng Ai's soldiers hurried to chase back Deng Ai, who had been framed by Zhong Hui and others, to return to Chengdu to preside over the overall situation. Because the supervisor Wei Wan had come to Chengdu to read out the will to detain Deng Ai, and that he had personally escorted Deng Ai into the prison cart, he thought that once Deng Ai had been wronged and regained power, he would inevitably be unfavorable to himself and would have revenge. Therefore, Wei Wan hurriedly found Tian Xu, an escort who had a personal grudge with Deng Ai, and asked him to intercept and kill Deng Ai.

Tian Xu led an army to meet Deng Ai, who was welcomed back, in the Mianzhu area, and after a fierce battle, Deng Ai's relatives were defeated, and Deng Ai and his son Deng Zhong were killed together, and Deng Ai was 68 years old at the time.
