Xiling Printing Society Art Museum on the West Lake Cultural Square, a "Mr. Return - Wang Fu'an and His Era" is underway, exhibiting nearly 100 pieces of Wang Fu'an's seal carvings, calligraphy and painting works, in addition to the members of the Xiling Printing Society in Hangzhou, many foreign members and collectors have also come to seriously appreciate the master's authentic works in the exhibition hall.

In 1904, at the end of the Qing Dynasty, four young people obsessed with seal engraving, Ding Ren, Wang Zhen, Wu Yin, and Ye Ming, initiated and founded the Xiling Printing Society in Gushan, Hangzhou. Although the seal is the foundation of the society, in essence, it is a literati society. The concept of Chinese literati emphasizes comprehensive cultivation, so it has the purpose of "preserving gold stones, studying printing, and combining calligraphy and painting", in addition to seal engraving, it also covers many fields such as calligraphy and painting, ancient script research, appreciation, poetry and so on. One of the founders, Wang Zhen (王福庵) (1880-1960), was originally named Shouqi, later renamed Wang Zhen (王禔), the character Wei ji, the number Fu'an, Fuchang.
Wang Fu'an was a native of Hangzhou, his grandfather Wang Yan was Jiaqing Pengyin, his father Wang Tong, Guangxu Ding Ugly Jinshi, had no intention of pursuing a career and paid attention to academics, successively served as the president of Hangzhou Academy and Ziyang Academy. Wang Fu'an studied with his father at Ziyang Academy, and he was fascinated by what he heard and laid a deep foundation for his learning.
By the age of 12, Wang Fu'an was already obsessed with engraving, and was proficient in printing, paleography and calligraphy. By the age of 20, he was already teaching at the Qiantang Academy (Chongwen Academy), and often met with Ding Fuzhi, who shared a common hobby, in the Isolated Mountains of Xiling to discuss his art. Ding Fuzhi was a descendant of Ding Shen, a famous ancient book versionist and a great collector of Jinshi calligraphy and painting in Hangzhou, who later founded the Xiling Printing Society together with like-minded Wu Yin and Ye Ming.

As a calligrapher of the Founding Sect, Wang Fu'an is recognized as another peak after Wu Changshuo and Zhao Shuru.
In addition to being an all-round literary and artistic talent who is proficient in poetry, calligraphy, painting and printing, Wang Fu'an has also studied science very well. He was proficient in science and engineering knowledge such as arithmetic and engineering surveying and mapping technology, and when the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway was laid, he quit his teaching job and worked in the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway Bureau. In the years that followed, he traveled between the Shanghai-Hangzhou and Xiang'e Road Bureaus. In addition to mapping and calculating civil engineering, he often wrote and engraved for friends. For that period of wandering life, he once carved a seal of "curtain on the sky". In 1915, Wang Fu'an compiled his first printed score, the "Seal of the Luocha Jiangmin", which was engraved by the Xiang and Hubei Railway Bureaus when he was serving.
After more than 70 years of hard work, Wang Fu'an has ruled more than 20,000 square seals and 103 volumes of plutonium seals in his lifetime, leaving valuable spiritual wealth for the society and laying a solid foundation for the development of the Xiling Seal Society. His cultivation and attainment in the art of calligraphy are extremely high, especially the "Jade Seal" of "the current seal book without fault", which is highly respected by the world.
Wang Fu'an traveled to Hangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Nanjing, Beijing, Shanghai and other places in his lifetime, leaving many excellent inscriptions of seal calligraphy. In the trajectory of his travels, Jinshi calligraphy and painting have played a very good role as a medium, and from the works in this exhibition, we can roughly outline the circle of friends of artists in that era.

Xiling Printing Society is a microcosm of Modern Chinese culture, and many of its members are the banner figures of modern culture and art, which has played an indispensable and important role in the inheritance and development of Traditional Chinese Culture and Art. The series of activities of "Mr. Return - Wang Fu'an and His Times" includes three activities: "The Return of Mr. Wang - Exhibition of Wang Fu'an and His Works of the Times", "Bofang Liuhe - Wang Fu'an's Influence on the History of Modern Printing, Seal Engraving and Calligraphy", and "People in the Printing Society - Invitation Exhibition of Seal Engraving in The Seal Ofe Yan Zhai".
Among them, the "Invitation Exhibition of Seal Engraving of The People in the Printing Society, The Seal Engraving Exhibition of the Luyan Zhai Seal Study", as one of the series of activities of "Mr. Return", in addition to exhibiting the seal engraving works of Zhao Zhichen, Zhong Yijing, Wang Fu'an, Han Deng'an, Wu Putang and other ancestors of the new Zhejiang school of seal engraving. Lin Qianliang, Yu Zheng, Mao Darong, Zhao Yanliang, Li Wenjun, Zhang Yijun, Shen Jiliang, Zhou Jianguo, Chen Mo, Hu Suimin, Bao Genman, Wu Ying, Wang Yueqing, Lü Shaohua, Shen Yingli, Tang Yinfang, Fang Guoliang, Zhang Mingzhu, Sang Jianhua, Gao Shenjie, Wang Xun, Wang Yihua, Wang Lite, Mo Enlai, Wang Zhen and other 25 members of the Xiling Printing Society were also invited, based on Mr. Wang Fu'an's creation of "This peace of mind is my hometown", "self-confidence is true", "ordinary life is white and knowledgeable", "I only wish to see each other often". Not thin today's people love the ancients", "a good person in life into a famous mountain", "encouragement must be happy" as the main content, in the form of calligraphy and seal carving, re-creation, is not only the inheritance of art, but also a tribute to Mr. Wang Fu'an.
