During this period, he successively edited 10 local chronicles such as "Fuqing County Chronicle", "Fuqing City Urban and Rural Construction Chronicle", "Fuqing City Construction Chronicle", "Fuqing City Land Chronicle", "Fuqing City Water Conservancy and Hydropower Chronicle", "Fuqing City Planning and Construction Chronicle", "Fuqing Electric Power Industry Chronicle", "Fuqing City Taoist Chronicle", "Shijian Temple Chronicle" and "Honglu Zhi", a total of 4.4 million words, if you add the "Zhanyang He Family Genealogy" compiled by him, in 31 years, he wrote 4.5 million words, which is amazing!
When he was young, He Aixian would only write scripts. What a chronicle work was like, he had never heard of. In 1964, based on the Yinxi Brigade's Battle Heaven and Earth, he wrote the script of "Fighting Heaven and Earth" and won the first prize when participating in the Minhou Regional Parade. Subsequently, he wrote the "Green Field Changchun" drama with the theme of the Yinxi Brigade and won the award again.
He Aixian said that 31 years ago, he was selected by chance by the main leaders of the county party committee and the county government to participate in the compilation of the "Fuqing County Chronicle". At that time, he was still very obscure about Xiuzhi, and he did not know its "vastness and quantity", and the knowledge involved was everywhere. When he took the Qianlong edition of the "Chronicle of Fuqing County" from the leader's hand, which had not been edited for 200 years, he was dumbfounded: In the past 200 years, Fuqing did not know how many major events had occurred, whether it was the appearance of urban and rural areas, the hydrology of mountains and rivers, human geography, or socio-economic and folk customs, the vicissitudes of the sea and the mulberry fields, the change of stars, the mountains and the moon and people have undergone earth-shaking changes! He really regretted his impulse, and without thinking clearly, he suddenly agreed! He took the "County Chronicle", although he didn't say a word, he sighed deeply!
But He Aixian was an intellectual after all, and from the day he took over the "County Chronicle", in addition to reading, he spent most of his time on "bubble bookstores" and "checking archives", he bought a large number of books that were related to the content of "County Chronicle", and searched for archival materials like a vast wave of smoke. In order to investigate the great changes that have taken place in the past 200 years, his footprints have also covered the landscapes and rivers of Fuqing.
After that, He Aixian spent 8 years to complete the main revision of the "Fuqing County Chronicle" and completed the compilation of the transformation from the "Fuqing County Chronicle" to the "Fuqing City Chronicle". He Aixian said that what he did not expect was that the results of his revision were highly affirmed by relevant experts in provinces, municipalities and cities across the country, and praised this as a rare local history. Yuan Qitong, the principal leader of Fuzhou City at the time, once used the eight words of "exhaustion and excellence" to evaluate He Aixian's work in compiling and revising the "Chronicle of Fuqing County".
In 1989, He Aixian was invited to be the editor-in-chief of the "Chronicle of Urban and Rural Construction in Fuqing County", and served as the special editor of the "Chronicle of Urban and Rural Construction of Fuzhou City", and tried to write the 210,000-word "Chronicle of Urban and Rural Construction of Fuqing County" (after the establishment of the city, the title of the book was changed to "Chronicle of Urban and Rural Construction of Fuqing County"). In January 1990, the Ministry of Construction of the People's Republic of China held a national conference on the compilation of local construction records in Tianjin, and the "Chronicle of Urban and Rural Construction in Fuqing County" written by He Aixian was promoted to the whole country as a model for the compilation of national local construction records. In December 1992, "Chronicle of Urban and Rural Construction in Fuqing County" won the second prize of the Second National Excellent Construction Science and Technology Book.
Since then, He Aixian has been hired by many units in our city to edit the work of Xiu Zhi. He Aixian said that the content involved in the compilation and revision of local history is a large encyclopedia, which must not only be complete in style, rigorous in description, and reasonable in structure, but also have accurate narratives, concise texts, strong local characteristics, and strong readability. For example, he wrote the "Land Chronicle of Fuqing City", and in order to write this local history, he also subscribed to the "China Land News" for a whole year and purchased a dictionary of knowledge related to land. For another example, when he was compiling the "Taoist Chronicle of Fuqing City", in order to grasp the first-hand information, he accidentally fell from a high place and broke his leg and foot when he went deep into a temple in Xincuo Town to investigate. It is understood that in the past 30 years, He Aixian has sorted out dozens of sacks of materials. For example, when he compiled the "Chronicle of Fuqing County", there was no computer at that time, and the relevant units carried the materials to the editorial board one sack and one sack and asked him to sort it out; for example, when he compiled the "Fuqing City Taoist Chronicle", the information was enough to fill a whole sack. These materials had to be read and sorted out by him, and then he found useful information and copied them one by one. He Aixian's professionalism can be seen from this.
In 1994, after the publication of the 300,000-word "Land History of Fuqing City" edited by He Aixian, the State Land Administration distributed its catalog to all parts of the country as a reference for the preparation of national standardized land records. Today, recalling the journey of cultivating zhi that he has traveled for more than 30 years, He Aixian said with deep feelings: "Cultivating zhi makes my life full; cultivating zhi has made me learn and enjoy being old, and it has also made me physically and mentally healthy!"
