Chen Hesheng, chief commander of China's spallation neutron source project
Chen Hesheng is currently the director of the Beijing Positive and Negative Electron Collider National Laboratory, the general commander and project manager and chief scientist of the China Spallation Neutron Source Engineering Command of the National "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" Key Project, and has presided over and participated in nearly 100 national, provincial and ministerial scientific and technological projects, won the first prize and the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and won the first National Innovation Scramble Medal in China.
Chen Hesheng is the first postdoctoral fellow trained in China, and is the first person to promote the settlement of the national large scientific device - China Spallation Neutron Source in Guangdong, and the settlement of the project has achieved zero breakthrough in the national large scientific project in South China.
In 2000, Chen Hesheng and more than a dozen other scientists wrote to the state to build a spallation neutron source. Under his active advocacy, in 2006, China's spallation neutron source was successfully settled in Guangdong, and in 2018, it was completed and passed the national acceptance, making China the fourth country in the world to have a spallation neutron source.

In August 2020, Chen Hesheng's team successfully built China's first self-developed boron neutron capture treatment experimental device in Dongguan using spallation neutron source development technology, laying the foundation for China's development of this new binary cell-level precision medicine advanced technology.
In October 2021, after careful debugging by Chen Hesheng's team, China's spallation neutron source power was successfully increased by 20%, achieving a major leap forward.
