In the final episode of the TV series "Armageddon", Fu Zuoyi sent someone to invite Li Wen, then deputy commander-in-chief of the Kuomintang Army's North China Suppression Army and commander of the 4th Corps, to reveal to him the news that the negotiations with our army had come to an end.

Stills of Armageddon
Li Wen's face changed drastically after hearing this, and he said darkly: "Since this is the case, I am waiting at home for the dispatch, and the commander-in-chief does not have to tell me specifically!" ”
Fu Zuoyi smiled calmly and told Li Wen that he planned to send Li Wen and all the generals who did not want to revolt peacefully together back to Nanjing, which could also be regarded as repaying the president's kindness to him.
Li Wen was very grateful to Fu Zuoyi for being able to spare himself, and before leaving, he reminded Fu Zuoyi to pay attention to the secret service agents who poisoned Fu Dongju, and said that he was doing this for one life, and he and Fu Zuoyi did not owe each other from then on.
Seeing this, some friends may wonder, why is Li Wen unwilling to peacefully revolt with Fu Zuoyi? What happened to him when he returned to Nanjing?
In the play "Armageddon", Fu Zuoyi called him "Hostage Wu Old Brother", which is called his word.
A few days ago, I read a masterpiece signed by the author, Mr. Niu Oge, entitled "Look at the Titles Between the Characters of "Armageddon", and then talk about the social ethics of the Kuomintang Army.
If measured by the standards in the text, Fu Zuoyi's title of Li Wen in the play seems to be quite debatable.
Mr. Niu Ogo mentioned in the text:
There are generally only two kinds of situations in which the other party is directly called "a certain brother", one of which is that the other party's seniority is significantly lower than his own, such as President Jiang calling his students Li Xianzhou, Du Yuming and Huang Baitao;
The second is that the other party has worshipped with himself and is significantly younger than himself. For example, Zhang Zizhong called Fan Songfu, as well as Liu Ruming, Qin Dechun, and Shi Jingting called Feng Zhi'an.
Of course, Li Wen had not worshipped Fu Zuoyi, so it did not meet the first article above. From the perspective of seniority, Fu Zuoyi was born in Baoding Military Academy, and Li Wen was a first-term student of the Whampoa Military Academy. As far as his position was concerned, Fu Zuoyi was the commander-in-chief of the North China Suppression Campaign, and Li Wen was the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the North China Suppression Campaign.
Overall, Fu Zuoyi was indeed superior to Li Wen in both seniority and position, but it was not as big as the gap between Principal Jiang and Li Xianzhou, Du Yuming, and Huang Baitao.
According to Mr. Niu Oge's research, among the senior military and political personnel of the Republic of China, it seems that it is still common to call "brother so-and-so" for the situation that the seniority status is slightly lower than their own, and the gap is not particularly large.
Therefore, it seems that the correct title for Li Wen when Fu Zuoyi met should be "Brother Quality", not "Brother Quality"! This conclusion is not correct or not, and it is yet to be corrected by readers and friends.
Returning to the original topic, why didn't Li Wen want to peacefully revolt with Fu Zuoyi?
First, Li Wen graduated from the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy and was the so-called "Tianzi protégé". Due to well-known reasons, President Jiang has always been nepotistic in the employment of people.
Therefore, the degree of attention and resources available to Li Wen in the Kuomintang army were far beyond the reach of Fu Zuoyi, who was known as the "General of cloth".
To be precise, there is actually a community of interests between Li Wen and President Jiang, which also objectively strengthens Li Wen's identity and loyalty to President Jiang.
Second, Li Wen was born into a landlord class family and lived a superior life since he was a child, and with Fu Zuoyi, a general from a poor family, the angle of view and the way of thinking about problems were not at the same level.
Fu Zuoyi was more concerned about the safety of the lives and property of the two million people in Peiping, and whether the countless cultural heritage left by the five emperors would be destroyed by his own decision-making mistakes.
Although there are trade-offs in terms of personal honor and disgrace, after the analysis and resolution of Fu's teacher, Mr. Liu Houtong, it is obvious in his heart that the two are urgent and important.
Li Wen, on the other hand, clearly paid more attention to his own reputation and personal gains and losses, and lacked the compassion of General Fu's generosity and fraternity. If you tell him how important the lives of two million people and the relics of the Five Dynasties are, he may laugh at your pedantry.
More importantly, Li Wen's father, Li Zhongyi, once killed underground CCP members and committed many evil deeds. In 1931, Li Wenren also led his troops to participate in the so-called "encirclement and suppression" of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in southeastern Henan and the Anhui Soviet Region of Henan.
Their hands were stained with the blood of revolutionaries and they feared being liquidated later.
Based on the above reasons, participating in the Peaceful Uprising in Peiping is certainly not the right choice in Li Wen's mind.
Therefore, in the drama of "Armageddon", it is reasonable that Li Wen would rather be tied up than peacefully revolt with Fu Zuoyi.
So, what happened to Li Wen after he left Beiping and returned to Nanjing?
In January 1949, Fu Zuoyi used the "Tianxiong" special plane mentioned in the "Armageddon" drama to send Li Wen, Shi Jue, and other Nationalist generals who did not want to participate in the peaceful uprising in Peiping back to Nanjing.
At this time, President Jiang could not withstand the pressure of all aspects of the Kuomintang and had already been electrified and went to the wilderness. Li Wen and others did not want to defect to Acting President Li Zongren, so they went directly to President Jiang's hometown of Fenghua Xikou Town, Zhejiang Province, to pay homage to the president and express their loyalty.
President Jiang was pleased with Li Wen's loyalty and courtesy. Therefore, it was not long before Li Wen was appointed deputy director of the Xi'an Appeasement Office and commander of the Fifth Corps, regaining military power.
However, Levin's luck was really bad! In November 1949, he led the 5th Kuomintang Army into Sichuan, and the troops were stationed in Xinjin, Chengdu and Leshan.
Less than a month later, they were once again surrounded by the Erye Headquarters of our army, and Li Wen and others were in a dilemma, and had no choice but to send people to contact our army to negotiate surrender.
On The 27th of 1949, Li Wen and others were disarmed by our army in Qionglai, Sichuan. In this way, Li Wen did not participate in the Peaceful Uprising in Peiping, but was forced to surrender to our army in Sichuan.
If you knew that, why did you do it in the first place?
Afterwards, Li Wen and other senior generals enjoyed the treatment of insurgents and were concentrated in the senior class of Southwest Military and Political University. However, Li Wen's surrender was only forced by the situation, not willing.
Therefore, it was not long before Li Wen used our trust in him to escape from Southwest Military and Political University. After that, he traveled to the other side of the strait via Xiangdao.
Principal Jiang felt his loyalty and arranged for him to serve as a lieutenant general in the "Ministry of National Defense" for a period of time. After retiring from the army, Li Wen found himself a fat shortage as a consultant of the sugar industry general company, and enjoyed a rich and eroded life of high society.
In 1977, Li Wen died of illness at the age of 72.
To sum up, the reason why Li Wen in "Armageddon" was reluctant to follow Fu Zuoyi to participate in the peaceful uprising in Peiping was mainly because they were all concubines of President Jiang.
They usually enjoy much more generous treatment and resources than others, and president Jiang is a community of interests, one prospers and one loses.
Coupled with Li Wen's lack of compassion like General Fu Zuoyi's, he was completely indifferent to the loss of life and property of two million people in Peiping and the devastating blow that the historical and cultural heritage of the Five Dynasties Imperial Capital was about to suffer. On the contrary, it pays more attention to personal gains and losses, honors and humiliations, and has a heavy selfish heart.
More importantly, he and his family members had the blood of our martyrs on their hands, and fearing that they would be liquidated in the future, they did not want to participate in the uprising under any circumstances and joined our army.
Compared with other generals in the Nationalist army, Li Wen's life was relatively mediocre, with no outstanding ability and no outstanding record.
However, Li Wen was sleek and agile, and he was not as strong as Huang Wei, plus he hugged Principal Jiang's thigh.
Therefore, although he encountered two difficulties in Beiping and Sichuan, he successfully escaped and eventually enjoyed the glory and wealth.
It can also be regarded as asking for benevolence and getting what you want!
