In 1954, when Zuo Dayue had just turned 10 years old, he went to the Xiang Theater with his mother to run errands, and at this time, when the theater was enrolled, the courtyard was full of children who were about the same age as Zuo Dayue, wearing costumes and practicing hard, seeing this scene, Zuo Dayue's small heart had a firm idea, that is, to enter The Mu Nan Garden to study, and when he grew up, he would be an excellent Xiang opera actor like his mother.
She told her mother about this idea, but her mother firmly opposed it.
Logically, the dream of children should be supported, and it is not good to inherit the mantle of their own Xiang opera Hua Dan? Of course, the mother also has concerns, she only hopes that Zuo Dayue can grow up happily, enter ordinary schools, learn knowledge, and finally find a stable job, don't sing like her, and singing is not only hard to practice, but also despised by society, thinking that you are not doing serious work, and the pressure in your heart is also huge. However, the little Zuo Dayue has his own ideas and does not agree with his mother's attitude, she believes that as long as she likes and loves, she must do it without fear of difficulties.
In the end, under the stubbornness of her daughter, the mother had no way to do anything and let her decide for herself. "If you have the ability to pass the Mu Nan Garden, your mother will unconditionally support you to sing Xiang opera and help you learn Xiang opera in the future." His mother's words increased Zuo Dayue's determination to sing Xiang opera.
In August of the same year, Zuo Dayue went to Mu Nan Garden alone to accept the evaluation. The evaluation team is composed of 10 famous Xiang opera artists, which does not include Zuo Dayue's mother, after all, it is her own daughter, and it will always be unfair to judge by herself.

In 1959, at the age of 16, Zuo Dayue became Chairman Mao's accompaniment dancer. This year, the Xiang Theater received a notice inviting them to perform the drama "Life and Death Card" at the Hunan Provincial Communication Office, and everyone was very happy, because this performance was on the big stage, and the audience was also a big leader, and they were very honored. It wasn't until zuo Dayue performed that she realized that among the many leaders, Chairman Mao was also among them, which made her muster up enough energy and strive to do it well.
After the performance, photographer Hou Bo came backstage to look for Zuo Dayue and said: "Chairman Mao saw that you performed the most outstanding performance, so let's come and dance with the chairman later!" After Zuo Dayue heard this, he was panicked and excited, afraid that he would not be able to dance at all, and that he would be able to see Chairman Mao again.
Hou Bo saw Zuo Dayue's concern, and then said, "It doesn't matter if you can't dance, I called the guards to teach you to dance." After saying that, he found a guard to come, at this time, Zuo Dayue was not good at resigning, so he had to study. The dance was indeed simple, and after a while she learned it, but because in front of Chairman Mao, Zuo Da Yue was embarrassed, and because of the nervousness, the movements were almost forgotten, so the stiff pestle was there, and Chairman Mao saw the situation and quipped: "You doll, dancing is going to move, how can you be as motionless as Tarzan?" In 1963, Chairman Mao returned to Changsha again, and at Chairman Mao's request, Zuo Dayue rushed back from other places to sing operas to him. During this period, Chairman Mao was robbed by Zuo Dayue when he smoked, and asked him not to smoke anymore, saying that it was not good for his health.
