The public prosecution alleged that defendants Guo Meimei and Wang Zouya, respectively, had been selling them at a unit price of 699 yuan per box since January and February 2021, respectively, knowing that the slimming sugar sold by Zhao Mou of Shangjia (handled in a separate case) might be illegally added to sibutramine. By the time of the case, defendant Guo Meimei sold more than 100 boxes of slimming candy and received more than RMB70,000. During this period, defendant Guo Meimei also helped defendant Wang Zouya order and pay Zhao, jointly selling 4 boxes of slimming candy, and receiving 2796 yuan. After the incident, the public security organs detected the prohibited ingredient sibutramine from the weight loss sugar seized.
According to reports, sibutramine is a drug that acts on the central nervous system to suppress appetite, although it has a certain weight loss effect, it may cause side effects such as hypertension and heart rate, and can cause death when severe. Its weight loss mechanism is to suppress the appetite, you do not want to eat, while also increasing your consumption. The combination of the two reduces the weight of the person. The risks of sibutramine outweigh the benefits, and taking it may bring irreversible damage to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular and central nervous systems, and may also lead to stroke or even death. As early as 2010, China has announced the cessation of domestic production, sales and use of sibutramine preparations and APIs. However, there are still some unscrupulous merchants who illegally add them in weight loss foods for the sake of profit.
The public prosecution held that the defendants Guo Meimei and Wang Zouya's conduct had constituted the crime of selling poisonous and harmful food.

The police investigation found that the original diet pill contained sibutramine ingredients that the state banned from adding. Sibutramine is a central nervous system depressant, and people who consume it will produce side effects such as increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, anorexia, insomnia, abnormal liver function, etc., and in severe cases, it will lead to sudden death. As early as 2010, China's Food and Drug Administration demanded that the production, sale and use of sibutramine be stopped.
Because the case involves the model of "micro-business", the police have judged that the suspects in this case involve distributors, manufacturers and other people, who are scattered in different parts of the country.
In March this year, the Pudong sub-bureau went to all parts of the country through the investigation detachment, and with the support of the local police, concentrated on the arrest of the people involved, and found three illegal production bases at the same time.
The so-called production base is this kind of place that looks like a warehouse, buy some raw materials, mix them yourself, and turn them into small pills that are rose red.
Suspects who knowingly commit crimes will pack these products in different sub-bags, and some will pack these small pills in cat food and dog food bags in order to avoid inspection by courier companies.
The original cost price of a pill is 8 cents, which can be increased by two levels of distributors and reached the customer's hand, and one pill is as high as 69 yuan.
Therefore, such a bag of seemingly inconspicuous "dog food" can eventually sell for more than 1 million.
Among the sellers arrested, there is Guo Meimei's figure.
In 2014, Guo Meimei was arrested on suspicion of opening a casino, and police found that she had repeatedly traded sex for hundreds of thousands of dollars at a time, and then Guo Meimei was sentenced to five years in prison. He was just released from prison in July 2019.
Now, less than two years after being released from prison, he has been arrested again, and the barrage is also shocked.
During the interrogation, Guo Meimei's attitude was casual and frivolous, and even cocked Erlang's legs, which was then stopped by the police in time. After several months of meticulous investigation, in April this year, the police of the Shanghai Economic Investigation Detachment successively arrested 75 suspects suspected of producing and selling toxic and harmful slimming health foods, including Zeng XX, Zhou XX, and Guo XX. Destroyed 3 production dens and 24 sales dens, seized more than 65,000 toxic and harmful slimming health foods, about 34 kilograms of production raw materials, 3 production equipment and more than 20,000 pieces of outer packaging, and the amount involved reached more than 50 million yuan. In July, the Shanghai Railway Transport Procuratorate (hereinafter referred to as the "Shanghai Railway Inspection Bureau") filed a centralized prosecution against Guo and 13 other people for selling toxic and harmful food in accordance with the law.
On August 13 this year, the Shanghai Iron Inspection Court publicly tried the case of selling harmful food, Guo Meimei pleaded guilty, and the public prosecution recommended that he be sentenced to 2 years and 9 months in prison. Guo Meimei cried bitterly in court, saying that she herself had been in prison since 2014, and was arrested again only a year after she was released from prison, and she said that she regretted it, "I feel that I have failed in life, I am 30 years old this year, as if everything is wrong." ”
