It is another year of migratory bird season, and recently Shanghai Chongming Dongtan Bird National Nature Reserve ushered in the return of some "old friends".
The star species of wintering birds in Chongming Dongtan is once again arriving. On October 20, the staff of Chongming Dongtan Bird National Nature Reserve observed for the first time the traces of a white-headed crane family group consisting of two adult birds and one juvenile bird on the beach through high-definition surveillance probes.

On October 21, the staff found the cygnets that had arrived for the first time this year in the reserve for the first time to overwinter and took clear photos.
In the next ten days, as the temperature drops further, more bald cranes and cygnets will arrive at Chongming Dongtan, and researchers in the reserve will continue to pay close attention to ensure that they can safely overwinter in Dongtan.

According to the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Greening and City Appearance, with the in-depth development of the ecological restoration work in the Dongtan Nature Reserve, the ecological environment in the ecological restoration area of the reserve has been improving day by day, attracting a large number of water birds to return and inhabit. With the arrival of wintering migratory birds represented by bald cranes and cygnets arriving in Chongming Dongtan, the reserve will continue to strengthen management, do a good job in ecological restoration, scientific research and monitoring, and continuously improve the ecological and social value of Chongming Dongtan.
