Good poems of the day | Rovers

Wanderer

Willow Swallow

The river is quieter in winter than in autumn. Put yourself

Unfold on a flat riverbed and release the green mountains in your heart

White clouds, released from the pebbles carefully polished all the way upstream

Release a wanderer up the river, release his rickety back

On a slower river beach, the wanderer picks up a thin piece of marble

The round arm helps it swim in a graceful water rafting style

His mercy disappeared in the middle of the river, like god's mercy

It only pushes everyone into human destiny, and does not give them a way to get there

The source of the river is a huge mountain, along the forest road into the mountain

There are abandoned lumberyards, and only the heads of the wood are protruding under the saws

Buried in thorny bushes, there are stumps that are uprooted, as

The more valuable raw materials for root carving, those with ordinary shapes, are exposed in the forest

The ants established a kingdom on it, and their soldiers lined up

Back and forth, I don't know what kind of state affairs I am busy with

The kingdom made of mud has endless walls, like miniature earth walls

Deeper down, the weeds are getting thicker and denser, with uncut fir and beech

Below, there are some sparse yin-loving plants, ferns or thorns

Birds on small bushes flapping their wings to avoid uninvited guests

Fly up the tall trees, twittering and looking down at the intruding rovers

There is no malice. The old fishy smell of rotten leaves is so thick, listen

Wild thrush, the original road returned, the deepest part of the mountain forest, is the territory of the gods

Expert reviews

"Wanderer" has a specific ideological meaning and cultural connotation in modernist poetry writing. In Baudelaire, the wanderer of the city, emerged as the spiritual subject of modernity. In the meaning of modernity, the "wanderers" are often associated with the city, and their "knowledge of the city is practical and sensual, acquired through repeated physical sensations" (Certto).

However, the "wanderer" in this poem does not follow the historical intention of modernity, he does not wander in urban space, but wanders along the mountains and rivers. The landscape seen by such a "wanderer" is very different from Baudelaire's "wanderer".

What did he see? There are winter waterways, huge mountains at the source of the river, abandoned logging fields along the side of the forest, countless weeds and bushes in the low places, and trees that are admired at the top. The scenery is not new or mysterious. Perhaps the most mysterious place should be hidden deep in the mountains.

"Wanderers" are spiritual nomads, slackers without strong practical utilitarianism. This means that he does not have the apparent impulse and strong will to go into the mountains to find out.

The end of the poem thus seems to be just right, "Listen / Wild Thrush, the same way back, the deepest part of the mountain forest, is the territory of the gods", which not only states the true mental state of the "wanderer", but also allows the mystery of the mountain forest to be preserved.

The sentences in front of this poem are too densely arranged, and the imagery is complex and multiplicitous, which makes people feel nervous and even suffocating. Fortunately, the ending is lightly closed, bringing people a rare touch of ease and pleasure.
