Wang Chengfa, a villager in Gutang Village, Qiankou Town, Huangshan City, saw the couple sifting rice flour, sprinkling osmanthus flowers, and then decorating them with red and green preserved fruit, and in a moment the colorful cakes with full color and fragrance were baked. Wang Chengfa said that the color cakes made should be authentic and delicious, and the proportion of collocation between various materials should be quite exquisite.
During the Spring Festival in ancient Huizhou, every household has the custom of eating cakes, which means "auspicious omen of high happiness and high longevity" and praying for good fortune in the coming year.
In Hecheng Township, Xiuning County, Huangshan, the locals use corn flour to make a square-shaped delicacy called bud reed pine. In addition to making bud reed pine, it is also filled with various fillings to make another traditional dish, bran reeds, which are grilled over a charcoal fire and eaten with a unique flavor.
