A Sotheby's employee shows off the 1984 signature sneaker Nike Air Ships.

It's a pair of 1984 Nike Air Ships from Jordan's game 5 of his rookie season at the Chicago Bulls and is the earliest known Nike shoe used in Jordan's career. That same year, he and Nike began working together to launch the Air Jordan brand. The shoe is valued at between $1 million and $1.5 million.

The deal easily broke records. The original record was also from Jordan, a 1985 race shoe Nike Air Jordan 1 High that was auctioned for $615,000 at Christie's in August 2020.
