Which are Mr. Jin Yong's unpopular works? In my opinion, "Chivalrous Journey", "Lian Cheng Tips", "Yue Female Sword", "Mandarin Duck Knife", "White Horse Whistling West Wind" and so on all belong to this category. These novels are either rarely remade or have not even been remade, and they are certainly unpopular compared to the countless remakes of works such as "Shooting Eagle".
Today, let's leave aside other unpopular works, but only talk about the two works of "Chivalrous Journey" and "Lian Cheng Tips". So far, "Chivalrous" has been adapted into a TV series four times, while "The Secret of the City" has only been a pitiful two times. In everyone's mind, the best Jin Yong TV series are often filmed by TVB, but these two works are not, and their best TV series versions are from a mainland director, who is Wang Xinmin.
Wang Xinmin was born in January 1949 in Xingtang County, Hebei Province, and graduated from the Chinese Department of Radio and Television University. In his early years, he studied in the Television Directing Seminar at the Shanghai Theater Academy and worked as a worker and editor. In 1975, Wang Xinmin was transferred to inner Mongolia Television Station.
In June 1979, the country's first provincial-level television newspaper, Inner Mongolia Television News, began to be founded independently, and its editor-in-chief and publisher were Wang Xinmin. Also in this year, Wang Xinmin created the TV series "Divorce" as a screenwriter based on the real events in the Baotou Stone Abduction Mining Area. The tv series was filmed in 1980 and became the first TV series broadcast by Inner Mongolia Television on CCTV.
Wang Xinmin's talent for directing and creation has attracted attention in the 1980s. In 1982, he filmed and completed the TV sketch collection "Spring Breeze in March", which became the first exhibition and broadcast drama in the first civilized courtesy month of the Central Television; in 1983, he served as a screenwriter and director, filmed the TV series "Pioneer in the Little Dirt House", which won the first prize of the autonomous region's first Sarina; from 1986 to 1987, he also served as a planner and director, and completed the TV series "Laughing Cause", which not only created a precedent for Chinese popular TV dramas. In addition to "Chivalrous Travel" and "Lian Cheng Tips", the TV series that everyone was most familiar with Wang Xinmin in the early years should be the "Swallow Li San". This is a TV series broadcast in the late 1990s, starring Zhang Li, Liu Changchun, Lin Fangbing, Ji Qilin and Jin Qiaoqiao, telling the story of the enmity between the masters and apprentices of the Northern Wulin Sect "Swallow Gate" and between the brothers and sisters of the division. At that time, this drama can be said to have created a miracle of ratings and became one of the MOST discussed TV series after tea and dinner. With a good reputation, the drama not only won the Feitian Award, but also was exclusively bought out by CCTV, becoming the highest selling TV series that year.
And Wang Xinmin's association with Jin Yong opera has been in 2000. This year, he set his sights on Mr. Jin Yong's relatively unpopular work, "Chivalrous Journey", and began to shoot. The series eventually aired in 2002 and became one of the highest-selling TV series of the year. Although due to the financial conditions, this version of "Chivalrous" has many unsatisfactory places, but it does not prevent it from becoming the best version of "Chivalrous" in all generations. It not only creates the best "dog brother", the best "ding-dong" and the best "Ah xiu" for us, but also makes us feel the chivalrous and soft intestines of the rivers and lakes from the wind and sand desert.
And just in 2002-2003, Wang Xinmin set his sights on another of Mr. Jin Yong's unpopular works, "The Secret of Connecting the City". Prior to this, this work had only one TV drama work, which was the version of Guo Jin'an and Li Meixian filmed by TVB. Because this work has a large number of snow mountain backgrounds, in that year, Wang Xinmin once went to the Gongga Snow Mountain at an altitude of more than 7,000 meters with the crew of "Lian Cheng Tips" to shoot live, and the crew also suffered a lot. But it turns out that these efforts are worth it, after Lian Cheng's tips came out, due to the accurate control of the spirit of the original work, it was unanimously praised by the audience, and Di Yun, played by Wu Fan, Shui Sheng played by Shu Chang, and Hua Tiegan, played by six-year-old children, were also recognized by the audience as the best.
At present, the rating of this drama on Douban is 8.0 points, which is not only much higher than the rating of the TVB version, but also ranks among the best among all Jin Yong dramas in the mainland.
Unfortunately, over the years, although Wang Xinmin has also filmed excellent works such as "The Imperial History of the Great Qing Dynasty", "Railway Guerrilla", and "Ma Mingfeng Xiaoxiao", he has not touched Mr. Jin Yong's other works, which has to be said to be a pity.
Looking at the two Jin Yong works shot by Wang Xinmin, although it looks a little shabby in terms of special effects, his control of the spirit of the original work is highly accurate. In addition, both the character design and the martial arts action design are excellent, and it is not an exaggeration to say that these two works are the best in history.
Now Wang Xinmin is not only a national first-class director, but also a member of the China Television Artists Association and the director of the TV drama production center of Inner Mongolia Television Station. When we watch more of the current "fairy- and chivalrous" Jin Yong dramas, we can't help but miss the two Jin Yong works filmed by this good director more and more, and I really hope that he can shoot a few more ah, after all, our eyes have been "polluted" by the current Jin Yong dramas for too long.
