Huang Jiguang Memorial Hall was established in 1962 and is located on the shore of the Kaijiang River in Zhongjiang County, Deyang City, Huang Jiguang's hometown. In the fourth exhibition room of the memorial, a Soviet-made turntable machine gun always stops visitors.

"This machine gun was used by my third father (Huang Jiguang) before his death." Huang Jiguang's nephew, Huang Yongjun, told reporters that when he was found on Height 597.9 in North Korea's Shangganling region where Mr. Huang died, there was not a single bullet inside.

Huang Yongjun is now the docent of the Huang Jiguang Memorial Hall, facing a group of visitors who came to commemorate the hero, telling the bits and pieces about Huang Jiguang that he heard from his elders over and over again.

His narration always begins in March 1951. In the early spring of Zhongjiang, it was still very cold, and Huang Jiguang braved the cold wind to rush to the market, but was attracted by a banner that read, "Resist US Aggression, Aid Korea, Defend the Homeland, and Defend the Country," under which a battalion commander was conscripting troops. He didn't bother to go back to discuss with his family, and did not hesitate to sign up, but the battalion commander looked up and refused him: "You are too thin, go back and grow tall, come back next year." ”

Huang Jiguang did not leave. On that day, wherever the battalion commander went, he followed him. At the end of the conscription, the battalion commander was finally impressed by his persistence. The next day, he bid farewell to his mother and went to the front.

In October 1952, the Battle of Shangganling was fought. On October 20 of that year, Huang Jiguang sacrificed his body to block machine guns and heroically died in the 597.9 highlands of the Shangganling region of North Korea, at the age of 21.

In the face of this machine gun that witnessed Huang Jiguang's heroic deeds, Huang Yongjun's story was full of affection.

At that time, the fighting was fierce, and Huang Jiguang's battalion was ordered to seize the 597.9 heights on the west side of Shangganling. The enemy desperately held on, and the volunteers organized 3 consecutive explosions but still failed to capture the high ground. If the high ground is not taken by dawn, the fighter will be delayed. Seeing that dawn was approaching, Huang Jiguang stepped forward and requested the blasting mission.

Huang Jiguang and the others crawled forward in the night, and were found less than 50 meters away from the enemy fire point, and then the flares illuminated the entire mountain as bright as day. Huang Jiguang continued to creep forward, reaching a place less than 10 meters away from the enemy's fire point. He threw a grenade, but to no avail. Taking advantage of the support fire to attract enemy fire, Huang Jiguang alertly climbed under the bunker. The enemy's machine gun tongue was still spraying, and Huang Jiguang stood up violently, pounced on the bunker, and blocked the enemy's machine gun muzzle with his chest! The enemy's machine guns finally stopped, and the comrades rushed up and retaken the heights in one fell swoop.

In October 1953, the third condolence delegation of Chinese Min, headed by He Long, went to the Korean front to offer condolences. During a visit, a Soviet-made turntable machine gun was introduced, which was the machine gun that Huang Jiguang had used before his death.

"It is said that this machine gun is only a few meters away from the place where the three fathers were sacrificed, there is not a single bullet in it, and it is surrounded by shell casings. He fired the last bullet, and when he found that he still could not conquer the enemy's fire point, he chose to fly and pounce. Huang Yongjun introduced that since then, He Long has always hoped to let this machine gun return to China, and coordinate with many parties for this purpose. Eventually, North Korea donated the machine gun to Hwang's unit.

After the opening of the Huang Jiguang Memorial Hall, Huang Jiguang's unit donated this machine gun to the memorial hall, hoping to let more people remember history, remember heroes, and let the spirit of heroes be passed on from generation to generation. in Lan Nan
