The last bullet

In late autumn, the Lubei Plain is covered with golden and frost red mixed autumn colors, the rivers are quiet, the sky is long, and the geese sing to announce the rotation of the seasons. Everything seemed so comfortable and intoxicating, but who knew that more than 70 years ago, every fold and every inch of skin in this land had been burned by artillery fire and soaked with blood!

On May 26, 1942, the commander of the Japanese North China Front, Okamura Ningji, sat here and began a major sweep of the anti-Japanese base area in the Hebei-Lu Border Region. The "Iron Camp Depression" breakout battle was one of the most tragic battles against the sweep, and more than 400 commanders and fighters of the Eighth Route Army resisted tens of thousands of invaders with their flesh and blood, and in the end only 12 people broke through. Among them, 3 commanders and fighters of the Eighth Route Army, with loyalty to the party and absolute sincerity to the motherland, left the last bullet to themselves!

Located in Tieying Town, Leling City, Shandong Province, Tieyingwa is a small basin about 10 meters below the surrounding area, with saline alkali land in the center and several villages scattered on the edge of the depression. A large piece of salt and alkali was lifted by a small wind, and the white dust was filled with white dust, like a trance array.

In the early morning of February 3, 1943, the three military sub-districts, the three prefectural committees, and the three special offices of the Jilu Border Region, which were often active in this area at that time, were all trapped in the "iron wall encirclement" of the Japanese puppet army.

For several days in a row, we visited the "Iron Camp Depression" to learn from those in the know about the beginning and end of the breakout battle that year.

Wan Jinhe, who was 74 years old at the time, was a native of Nanying Village, Tieying Town, Leling City, and he knew from an early age that in the tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the village, there were 6 Soldiers of the Eighth Route Army who died in the breakthrough battle. When he grew up, he volunteered to guard the tombs of martyrs, which was 45 years.

He described to us that in June 2015, the civil affairs department decided to relocate six unknown soldiers to the martyrs' cemetery. When their remains were collected, everyone present was shocked, and each martyr found several warheads, some stuck in the bones, and the largest number of martyrs had 34.

Speaking of this, Wan jinhe was silent, tears rolling in his eyes.

Later, he repeatedly mentioned a name - Li Qingshou. Because Li Qingshou was a native of the "Iron Camp Valley" hongxiang, he was the captain of the five squads of the Three Armed Services Division at that time.

February 2, 1943, midnight. The snow stopped after two days. Suddenly, the snow bright car lights shone on the white snow field, dazzling and frightening. More than 10,000 Japanese puppet troops in Tianjin, Jinan, Cangzhou, Dezhou, Nanpi, Yanshan, Yangxin, and other places, in more than 200 cars, suddenly attacked the "Iron Camp Depression" from all directions. Suddenly, the "Iron Camp Depression" seemed to be stuffed into a tin bucket, and even a sparrow did not want to fly out.

Li Qingshou led the five squads of fighters to break through and did not go far before they were suppressed in a traffic ditch, and dense bullets suddenly hit the edge of the ditch, bursting into a burst of dust. He calmly issued a surprise order: "Break through in the direction of the Iron Family Battalion, leaving only weapons and ammunition, and throw away the rest!" The warriors of the five squads relied on the familiar terrain to deftly strike at the enemy in the "Iron Camp Depression". Li Qingshou shot one by one, and the enemies fell one after another.

However, the enemy's encirclement was too strong, and the five squads of fighters did not rush out from 10 a.m. to dusk. Not far away were the corpses of the enemy, and there were only a few warriors around Li Qingshou. The white depression had been stained red with blood, and the blood-colored sunset was slowly descending.

At this time, Li Qingshou heard the enemy shouting: "Over there, the Eighth Road, as long as you lay down your weapons and surrender, protect your high-ranking official Houlu, why bother to follow the Communist Party and lose your life!" ”

Li Qingshou sneered and shouted loudly: "Grandpa was born Chinese, and died a Chinese ghost!" ”

With a shot in his hand, the head of a ghost soldier who had just appeared on his head blossomed.

When the Japanese puppet army saw that Li Qingshou refused to surrender his weapons and did not dare to approach, they concentrated their fire on the grave where Li Qingshou was hiding and bombarded it wildly.

Li Qingshou got up and looked at the smoke-shrouded Jilubian Plain, aimed the muzzle of the gun at his temple, and did not hesitate to freeze his life at the age of 25 with the last bullet.

Li Qingshou fell for a long time, and the Japanese puppet army hesitated to approach. Later, they carried Li Qingshou's body to a table of eight immortals in front of the Great Temple in Tiejiaying Village and took a picture. The Japanese officer gave a thumbs up to the assembled soldiers and said, "Chinese heroes, great!" ”

Wan Jinhe seemed to be still immersed in the smoke of war in the "Iron Camp Depression", and choked up: "Li Qingshou is a communist party member who stands on top of the sky in the Lubian Plain!" ”

In the lush jujube forest in the northeast of Leling City, there is an imposing building - the Jilu Border District Revolution Memorial Hall.

"We would like to know about the sacrifice of Li Yong'an, deputy commander of the Third Military Subdistrict."

"Let's go and take a look at the exhibition hall in front of us." Song Xiuli, director of the Municipal Party History And History Office, led us to an exhibition wall, and a somewhat blurry photo of Li Yong'an came into view. He had a slightly smiling face, as if he wanted to tell us something.

A native of Ningjin County, Li Yong'an joined the Communist Party of China in 1931 while studying at the school. Soon after the July 7 Incident, he joined the anti-Japanese armed forces led by the party in his hometown and grew up to be the deputy commander of the three military sub-districts of the Jilu Border Region on the battlefield.

On that day, the reason why Li Yong'an was swept into the enemy's encirclement was because he was leading the guard troops to inspect the work in the "Iron Camp Depression". It was entirely possible that he would escape from danger alone, but he resolutely chose to stay.

The artillery blasted through the slush, and bullets flew overhead with sharp whistles. Li Yong'an lay in the ditch and calmly commanded the soldiers to repel the enemy's rampant attacks again and again.

Taking advantage of the enemy's respite, several fellow villagers gathered together to persuade him not to fight hard with the devils, and quickly disguised themselves as ordinary people and went out. Li Yong'an said calmly: "At the moment of the great enemy, which commander has escaped from the battlefield?" Thank you folks, hurry up, let's take cover! ”

Another round of the enemy's attack began. Li Yong'an waved a shot, and a ghost was knocked down; he moved two steps to the left, and with another shot, a puppet army was knocked down again; hordes of enemies pounced, and he quickly fired until the last nine bullets were left in the magazine. At this time, he saw that the enemy pounced on him again, and the soldiers of the pistol squad fell down one by one, and Li Yong'an was also covered in blood. With his back against the wall of the ditch, he reached out and plucked a leaf of dry grass in his mouth, the blade was cool and silky, and the fine veins on it were like small files that pulled his chapped lips with pain, and he chewed slowly, making himself unusually calm... As the enemy's chaotic footsteps approached, he leaned out and shot accurately, one, two, three... Eight!

Suddenly, he jumped on a hillock, glared at the enemies around him, and aimed his ninth bullet at his temple...

When Li Yong'an's body was found, his arm was still stretched forward, a blade of grass was pouted at the corner of his mouth, and a faint smile hung...

"The wind blows through the four seasons, or it is sharp and bone-chilling, or the spring is cold, or it sweeps away all things, or it sends rain to send cool..."

The poem chants Gale and is the name of a hero. His name was Wu Dafeng, and he joined the Communist Party of China in 1931. When he was the county magistrate of the anti-Japanese democratic government in Yangxin County, he commanded the elimination of more than 40 evil and stubborn traitors within a month, which made the enemy famous and frightened. People still affectionately call him "old county magistrate," but he was only 28 years old.

In the "Iron Camp Depression" breakout battle, Wu Dafeng and the Yangxin County Brigade exchanged fire with the enemy several times, but they all ran into a wall and returned, and suffered heavy casualties.

According to the plan, this Year's Spring Festival was the day of Wu Dafeng's marriage, and he had thought of taking his daughter-in-law over two days and holding a simple ceremony. It seems that this matter is hanging.

The fog has cleared, the snow is vast, and the smoke is everywhere. Wu Dafeng was lying on the edge of the ditch closely monitoring the front, and there were constantly fleeing compatriots gathering around him. "Isn't this the governor of Wu County?" I heard that you are ready to get married during the Spring Festival, leave them alone, you rush out first! ”

An old man also led a cow over: "You take off your glasses, put on your felt hat, and lead this cow to run." ”

Wu Dafeng shook his head: "I am a communist, and I must not leave the soldiers and villagers behind." ”

The enemy screamed again and pounced.

Wu Dafeng told the villagers to quickly lie down in the ditch and pretend to die, and then led the only dozen fighters to attract enemy fire to the other end of the ditch. On the way, he was shot many times, a lot of blood loss, it felt as if the sky was twisting, he gritted his teeth, and shot the bullets in the gun chamber at the enemy fiercely, leaving only the last one, he crouched down on the slush and took a deep breath, then aimed the muzzle of the gun at himself, after the gun he fell down, and pressed the gun under his body...

When the gunfire and smoke are far away from the blood-stained battlefield, does the peaceful earth ever remember the story of the last bullet?
