Such a vulgar custom is still playing out, and the brother and sister are "sacrificing" the 10-year-old girl to the gods

India has always aspired to become a world power and has been flaunting its advanced development achievements to the international community. But in fact, this country, which is trying to catch up with China, is still shrouded in a cloud of superstition and ignorance. Even after entering the modern society, there will still be vicious events such as sacrifices and witch hunting in rural India.

Most of these incidents occurred in more remote villages, and the cause of the incident was mostly a person who played a role similar to the "god stick". Moreover, many witch hunts occur not entirely for the so-called killing of "demons", but for deeper practical reasons.

Rural sacrifices are repeatedly prohibited

The act of sacrifice is the practice of offering various sacrifices to the gods in exchange for the hanging curtain of the gods, obtaining material wealth or a healthy body. But science shows that this behavior cannot change the objective state of anything. The more barbaric and ignorant the place, the more revered the sacrifice, and the more cruel the method chosen.

Recently, a 10-year-old girl was killed in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. The killers were a 41-year-old man related to her and his 38-year-old sister. With the help of a teenager, the two brutally murdered ten-year-old Ayessha. After the local police solved the case, it was found that the murderer's motives were incomprehensible.

The brothers of the two killers were paralyzed in bed due to illness, and the local "witches" told them that evil spirits were at work and asked them to sacrifice a 10-year-old girl to the gods within a month and a half in order to save their brother's life. This is not the first of its kind, as in October 2020, SunuGodba in northern India was also brutally killed for the same incident.

Witch hunting is frequent

In addition to sacrifice, another type of folly that often occurs in India is witch hunting. Indian witches hunt women from remote villages who are identified as witches by the sticks, who are then brutally attacked and killed by the surrounding population. According to statistics, at least 3,000 women die in witch hunting in India every year.

The Indian police have tried to intervene in such cases, but after they rescued the murdered women, they could not use strong penalties to punish those who committed the crimes, and even the police station was attacked. In fact, there are practical reasons for witch hunting, in addition to the lack of knowledge of the low-level people in India, the more important reasons are revenge and property encroachment.

In general, the majority of people accused of being witches are single women, and in most cases such women will own a certain amount of property. Some of the people who attacked witches were people who had conflicts with the victims in their daily lives, and some of them were purely for the purpose of seizing the property of these single women.

This, coupled with the fact that such women do not have the protection of their husbands and families, leads to unscrupulousness among the wicked. However, the emergence of sacrifice has a lot to do with the ignorance and superstition of Indians, but it also reflects that there is still a lot of room for improvement in the living standards and education level of the Indian people, after all, the number of times such as killing and sacrificing occurs in India is not uncommon.

If the Indian government wants to put an end to witch hunting, in addition to strengthening scientific propaganda, cracking down on various illegal sticks and strengthening the protection of private property and women's rights and interests. Only when vulnerable groups, such as women and children, are fully protected can India talk about how to become a developed country.
