On July 6, 2021, the dinosaur footprint research team of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) announced that they had found a number of well-preserved dinosaur footprints in Huangjing Town, Gulin County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, in collaboration with Professor Martin G. Lockley, Professor of the University of Colorado at Denver, German Footprint Scholar Hendrik Klein, Zigong Dinosaur Museum Peng Guangzhao, Ye Yong and other scholars. This is an important help for people to understand the paleoecology of the Cretaceous Sichuan Basin, and the paper was published in the Journal of Paleogeography published on the 5th.

According to domestic media reports such as Cover News, on August 25, 2020, paleontologists from China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Zigong Dinosaur Museum led a team to Goldfish Creek to make a detailed investigation of dinosaur footprints. Through careful investigation, it was found that the Goldfish Creek footprint site was distributed with at least 4 sauropod tracks, 2 theropod tracks, and 4 isolated footprints. The surface of the sandstone that preserves the footprint has water flow ripples, and the siltstone generally develops mud cracks, representing the interlayer of meandering river sediment and small braided river sediment. In addition, there are abundant traces of invertebrates in the feldspar sandstone where the Goldfish Creek footprints are located.

The report mentioned that the most important discovery of the Goldfish Creek footprint was the recording of a new species of Eubrontes and named the Eubrontes nobitai footprint. "We named eubrontes nobitai and gave the nobitai because Nobita's Dinosaurs (1980) and Nobita's New Dinosaurs (2020) are excellent dinosaur-themed films that have made many young readers fall in love with dinosaurs."

The surging news reporter noted that the above-mentioned "Nobishi Shileilong Footprints" attracted the attention of the Japanese media after being reported by domestic media.

For example, on July 8, the Japanese media ANN NEWS released a video combined with text report: "The new dinosaur fossil (found in China) was named the animated Doraemon Nobita... Xing Lida, a scholar at the China University of Geosciences who published a paper and is a doraemon fan, saw that in the movie released last year, Nobita named the dinosaur after himself, so he decided to help Nobita realize his wish and named the fossil Eubrontes nobitai.

The above reports of the Japanese media not only attracted public attention in Japan, but also attracted the attention of domestic netizens. Some netizens commented: "When I was a child, you gave me a dream, and when I grew up, I helped you achieve it." ”

In addition, the memorial museum of Fujiko Fujio, the creator of the anime Doraemon, also recently posted through the official Twitter post: "Footprint fossils of a new type of carnivorous dinosaur have been found in Sichuan Province, China!" That fossil was named after Nobita! In the future, the museum will publicly display replicas of fossil footprints. Stay tuned. ”
