Matian Town is located in the southeast of Zuoquan County, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, which was the political, military, economic and cultural center of North China. The headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, the Northern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the Government of the Luyu Border Region of Jinji and Hebei, and other Chinese party, government, military, and academic organs were stationed here, and were known as the "Little Yan'an" on the Taihang Mountains.

Zecheng Village is an administrative village in Matian Town, Zuoquan County, located on the east bank of the Qingzhang River in the middle of the Taihang Mountains. In recent years, local officials have sorted out the traditional ancient villages, humanistic life and natural geographical conditions of Zuoquan in multiple dimensions, creating a display place integrating sketching, tourism, culture and life.

The reporter saw at the service center of the International Sketching Base in Northern China that artist studios, multi-functional conference rooms, coffee libraries, open-air cinemas and other places are readily available. Wang Guobin, a member of the Matian Town Organizing Committee, introduced that this place will provide a platform for art exchange and display for students and artists who come to sketch.
"Authorized by the International Watercolor Association, it has become the society's sketching base." Hao Junqing told reporters that he had previously planned to invite watercolor artists from home and abroad to sketch here. In the near future, it will become a gathering place for watercolor artists at home and abroad.

For artists, this is the creative base, and for the villagers of Zecheng Village, the establishment of the base has given them "an additional opportunity to increase their income."
Kang Shiwen, 63, a well-known carpenter in the village, turned into a "homestay owner" two years ago, relying on the development of rural tourism. His home is now one of more than 30 homestays in Zecheng Village.

"I made my own doors and windows, and I designed the yard." Talking about this matter, Kang Shiwen was full of pride. He told reporters that since the opening of the homestay, it has received many college students who have come to sketch, and "the income is also much stronger than before."

Zhao Fusheng, secretary of the party branch of Zecheng Village, introduced that in the past, the economic income of the village mainly relied on planting, photovoltaics, migrant workers, etc., and now through the establishment of international sketching bases and homestays, villagers have new occupations and their incomes have increased a lot. "After normal operation, it can receive 42,000 students, artists, etc. per year, and the accommodation income can reach 2.9 million yuan."
Nowadays, this small red village under the Taihang Mountains has not only stepped out of the "international style", but also become a characteristic village for the revitalization of local rural areas.
