Xiao Xiangping: Firmly establish the value orientation of "the public is eternal, the private is temporary"

Xiao Xiangping

The Sixth Municipal Party Congress clearly put forward that attention should be paid to strengthening ideological tempering, political experience, practical training, and professional training, educating and guiding the majority of party members and cadres to continuously improve the "eight skills" and "seven abilities", and firmly establishing the value orientation of "the public is eternal, and the private is temporary".

In 1893, Wu Dayi, who was then the governor of Hunan, inscribed the famous "Songtai Ming" in the Forest of Steles in The Xi River, which contained a famous saying: "The public is eternal, and the private is for a while." "Between the public and the private, which is like the Chu River and the Han Dynasty, there should be a clear distinction, which is the simple logic of doing politics for officials. However, real life is colorful, and the "small self" in the hearts of a few people inevitably expands, gradually blurring the public-private boundary and allowing private desires to flow quietly. Although the lessons have repeatedly warned that "what is not my own, although there is nothing to be gained", there are always people who turn their backs on justice and secretly chen cang; although the facts have repeatedly verified that "do not stretch out your hand, you will be caught", but there are always people who take chances and touch the red line. All of this shows that value orientation is the general switch of human behavior. In the past, yongzhou's political ecology was not clear enough, which damaged the image of Yongzhou to a certain extent. The reason is that the value orientation of "the public has been through the ages, and the private is temporarily" is not firmly established.

So, how to firmly establish the value orientation of "the public is eternal, and the private is temporary"?

Be selfless. General Secretary Xi Jinping profoundly pointed out: "As a party cadre, it is necessary to talk about the selflessness of the public, the distinction between the public and the private, the public before the private, the public and forget the private, only by serving the public with one heart and doing everything out of the public heart, can we be frank and prudent in the use of power, and can we be bright and upright. As party members and cadres in the new era, the cause of the party and the people is a "grand duke" above all else, and personal promotion, honor, and disgrace are not worth mentioning in front of the "grand duke." As a party member and cadre in Yongzhou, the development and progress of Yongzhou is the "Grand Duke", and we must actively act, selflessly dedicate, constantly interpret the "Grand Duke" in practice, serve the "Grand Duke" in our work, and realize the "Grand Duke" in our efforts.

There should be a clear distinction between public and private. For party members and cadres, an important yardstick for judging the strength of party spirit is the word public and private. Although party members and cadres also have their own basic rights and interests and basic needs, this cannot be confused with selfishness, selfish interests, and selfish desires. The Song Dynasty "Zhupo Poetry" records that an official received a family letter when he was working, and in order to check the letter, he specially extinguished the candle in the public house and lit his own candle. This distinction between "public candles" and "private candles" is like a metaphor, illuminating the spiritual realm of distinguishing public and private. Gu Wenchang, former secretary of the Dongshan County PARTY Committee in Fujian Province, repeatedly instructed that "no oil should be touched in the public household", and when he found out that the canteen cooker of the county party committee organ had given his younger son more food, he banned the children from buying food in the canteen. Countless communists have vividly interpreted with consciousness that "not a single cent of public funds can be spent indiscriminately; public power for the people, and nothing can be used privately." Looking back at the road ahead, the Communists have successfully smashed one "impossible" after another by relying on building the party for the public good, not stressing selfish interests, and letting consciousness converge into an "iron stream"?

We must strictly abide by public morality. Party cadres are all servants of the people, and only by always keeping public morality in mind, treating public morality, seeking public interests, and stressing fairness, can the thinking of decision-making be clear, the efficiency of work is high, and the confidence of speaking is sufficient, and only then can someone listen, and only when people can do things that people can believe and let people follow; only by understanding "for whom, who to rely on, and who I am," and persist in standing up to and not forgetting the foundation of being a man, not moving the heart of a public servant for the sake of the government, and not seeking one's own interests in the use of power, can we keep good official morality and win the support of the people. In short, the virtue of party members and cadres is to serve the people, always keep the interests of the masses in mind, stand firm on the position of the masses everywhere, and take the satisfaction or dissatisfaction of the masses, happiness or unhappiness, and whether they agree or disagree with everything as the criterion, and hand over an excellent answer sheet to the party and the people.

Let go of selfishness. "If you see small profits, you can't make great achievements; if you have selfish intentions, you can't seek public affairs." For party members and cadres, all kinds of tests and temptations lie ahead, and it is easy to "make concessions once and fail to hold on again." Therefore, in the face of "petty corruption," we must not take it lightly; when we encounter "unspoken rules," we must never go with the flow; and we must never smile and accept it when we encounter "courtesy of human kindness." It is necessary to always build a solid ideological defense line, scrupulously abide by the bottom line of law and discipline, do not do unkind things, do not take ill-gotten gains, and do not stick to unhealthy tendencies, and "do not move in the temptation of small profits, and do not dazzle in the confusion of the five colors."
