He was a classmate of Luo Ruiqing, who had made great achievements, but after the founding of the People's Republic of China, he was arrested and imprisoned for 20 years

On New Year's Day 1949, when the War of Liberation was devastating and victory was in sight, Chairman Mao issued a New Year's Day message: "Carry the Revolution through to the End," which issued a just call to the people of the whole country and people from all walks of life, defeated the Kuomintang reactionaries, and established a democratic coalition government.

In Shanghai at that time, the Kuomintang's control over the news was even stricter, and the Shanghai masses could not see this heavy article published by Chairman Mao at all, so it became an important task at that time to spread this article in Shanghai.

Finally, at the suggestion of Zhou Enlai, Fan Jiman, who was lurking in the Second Department of the Ministry of National Defense of the Nationalist Government as the acting commissioner of the major general, carried out this task.

So, why did Zhou Enlai choose Fan Jiman? The reason is that Fan Jiman has just sent a very valuable piece of information, that is, Chiang Kai-shek has made up his mind to move his headquarters to Taiwan.

After the Central Committee received this news, it undoubtedly took a reassuring pill of the complete victory in the Liberation War, and it was precisely this key information that made the Central Committee look at Fan Jiman with astonishment, so Zhou Enlai personally ordered him to carry out this mission.

However, at that time, the entire Shanghai area had very strict control over the news, and all printing plants had to register and make records, and it was difficult to print Chairman Mao's New Year's Day message.

After accepting this task, Fan Jiman took advantage of his convenience as a part-time teacher at the Shanghai Theater Academy to secretly use the mimeograph equipment of the Drama Academy to print 80 Copies of the New Year's Day dedication, handed them over to the underground staff of our party, and secretly delivered them to the hands of the upper democrats.

Many democrats were very excited when they read the New Year's Day message, feeling that the light and future they had been looking forward to was coming.

So, who is this Van Ji Man? What kind of legendary experience did he have?

In March 1906, Fan Jiman was born in the Fan family compound in Majiachangtou Village, Liangshan County, Sichuan (now Liangping County, Chongqing), and grew up in a good family, which also allowed him to receive a good education.

At the time of Fan Jiman's birth, when the Great Revolution was in full swing, Fan Jiman was also determined to change China from an early age, and when he grew up, he was admitted to the fifth phase of the Whampoa Military Academy and joined the Communist Party of China.

At the Whampoa Military Academy, Fan Jiman met Luo Ruiqing, the two were classmates in the same class, or Fellow Villagers in Sichuan, and they were like-minded, so the two formed a deep friendship. Later, Luo Ruiqing specifically recalled his classmate experience with Fan Jiman in his memoirs, saying: "Fan's brain is very lively, the revolutionary enthusiasm is also very high, we are both Sichuanese, so at that time there was the most communication between each other. ”

Later, in order to defend the achievements of the Great Revolution, Fan Jiman joined the revolutionary army and, under the command of Ye Ting, went south to suppress the rebellion. Fan Jiman served as a platoon leader, personally led the soldiers to fight on the front line, was injured many times, and was praised by Ye Ting, praising him: "This platoon leader looks weak, but in fact he is fierce. ”

In desperation, the Great Revolution still failed, and Fan Jiman returned to his hometown to continue his revolutionary activities under the assignment of the organization, and later came to Shanghai.

However, shortly after entering the work, Van Ji Man was betrayed and arrested by traitors.

In prison, he preferred to die, and the enemy did not get anything from his mouth, and finally sentenced him to three months in prison. However, it was during these three months that Gu Shunzhang's defection to the enemy caused the Organization in Shanghai to suffer serious damage, and Fan Jiman also lost contact with the Organization.

Fan Jiman went through all the hardships and finally found out that our party had established a special branch in Beiping, so he chased after Beiping and looked for an organization. However, there was no contact information at all in Beiping, so he had to be admitted to the Drama Department of Peking University first, where he studied while looking for an organization.

In 1931, the 918 Incident broke out, the whole country was outraged, Fan Jiman immediately organized students to take action, marched on the streets to demonstrate, and was elected as one of the presidents of the Anti-Japanese Student Federation of 68 universities and middle schools in Beiping, leading hundreds of student representatives to Nanjing to petition.

However, the students' patriotic movement was regarded as a riot by the Nanjing government, and a large number of military and police were dispatched, and Fan Jiman, as the chairman of the petition delegation, was seriously injured.

In desperation, Fan Jiman came to Song Qingling's mansion and told her about the whole process of the suppression of the student petition. After listening to Fan Jiman's account, Song Qingling was filled with indignation and immediately issued a statement that "the Kuomintang is no longer a political force," strongly condemning the Kuomintang's keenness to engage in civil war, engage in compromise with the outside world, and suppress the student patriotic movement.

At that time, the famous journalist Smedley was also in Song Qingling's home, and he reported to the outside world the news that the Chinese petitioning students were beaten by the Nanjing military and police, and in this context, the national anti-Japanese anti-Chiang Kai-shek movement set off a climax, and Fan Jiman was indispensable!

After Fan Jiman returned to Beiping, according to the requirements of the organization, through the relationship with Chen Gongshu, the station chief of the Beiping Station of the China Revival Society, he successfully broke into the Kuomintang and gained the trust of Zheng Jiemin.

Later, Fan Jiman successfully won the favor of Chen Cheng, chief of staff of the Ministry of National Defense, and was appointed as the acting commissioner of the Major General of the International Group of the Second Department of the Ministry of National Defense in Shanghai.

It was precisely because of Fan Jiman's special status in the Kuomintang that on New Year's Day 1949, Zhou Enlai specially arranged for him to have a special task, that is, to successfully send Chairman Mao's New Year's Day dedication "Carry the Revolution to the End" to the hands of democrats and make a great contribution again!

However, Van Ji Man's identity was soon revealed, and he was arrested and imprisoned on March 1, 1949, and sentenced to death. Fortunately, Fan Jiman was very skilled, and escaped from prison more than a month later.

After the founding of New China, Fan Jiman worked in the Liaison Bureau of the East China Military and Political Committee, but in 1955, because of the involvement of the Pan Hannian case, Fan Jiman was arrested and imprisoned for 20 years.

It was not until 1980 that Van Ji Man was finally rehabilitated and reinstated as a party member in 1984.

On December 6, 1990, Fan Jiman died of illness in Shanghai at the age of 84.
