At Tuesday's plenary session, the Russian State Duma ratified a protocol extending a ten-year agreement between China and Russia on mutual notification of the launch of ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles, tass news agency reported.

The Protocol, which was submitted to the State Duma by the Russian Government in July this year, includes "ratification of the Protocol on the Extension of the Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Russian Federation on Mutual Notification of the Launch of Ballistic Missiles and Space Launch Vehicles of 13 October 2009, signed in Moscow and Beijing on December 15, 2020." ”

According to the protocol, the agreement will be extended until December 16, 2030. The explanatory to the Protocol states: "It is in the interest of the Russian Federation to continue to implement the Agreement in accordance with the Protocol signed until December 16, 2030. ”。

It is reported that on October 13, 2009, China and Russia signed the "Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Russian Federation on Mutual Notification of the Launch of Ballistic Missiles and Space Launch Vehicles", which will be valid until December 16, 2020. On December 15, 2020, the two defense ministers signed the Protocol with the approval of the heads of state of China and Russia. In accordance with the Protocol, the term of the Agreement has been extended for a period of 10 years, with entry into force on 15 December 2020.
