Species of rice leaves

The leaves of rice are divided into three types: sheath leaves, incomplete leaves and complete leaves.

The sheath leaf, the bud sheath, appears first at the time of germination, white, and has the effect of protecting the emergence of seedlings, especially in the case of dry sowing, the effect is more obvious.

Species of rice leaves

Incomplete leaves are the first green leaves drawn from the bud sheath, generally only leaf sheaths and no leaves, which are usually not counted when calculating the number of leaves of the main stem.

Complete leaves consist of leaf sheaths and leaf blades. The leaf sheath and leaf junction are leaf pillows, and at the leaf pillows there are leaf tongues and ear ears. The leaf sheath embraces the stem and has the effect of protecting tillers, young leaves, young stems, young ears and enhancing the strength of the stem and supporting the plant. At the same time, the leaf sheath is also an important storage organ

The accumulation of assimilated substances in the leaf sheath has a lot to do with grouting and lodging resistance. The leaves are long lanceolate and are the main organs for photosynthesis and transpiration. The length, size and number of leaves in cultivation play an important role in the formation of yield.

Leaves, leaf sheaths, leaf pillows, leaf ears, leaf tongues and bud sheaths often have different colors such as green, red and purple, which are important features for identifying varieties.

The number of leaves in the later stage of rice and whether they grow strong or not are greatly related to the yield of rice. Strengthening field management in the later stage and protecting the vigorous vitality of the functional leaves in the later stage is an important guarantee for the abundant yield of rice
