Meltwater: The ecological protection of thick green Damiao Mountain has been effective

On 22 May, the International Day for Biodiversity, established by the United Nations, meltwater is located in the 90,000 mountains, with complex and diverse climate types, which have bred rich biodiversity. It is one of the counties with the best native forest ecosystem and rich biodiversity in Guangxi and even south China, and is an important source of supply for the Liujiang River in the Pearl River system. In recent years, meltwater has established a county with ecology, paid attention to ecological protection, deeply implemented the "Jinshan Yinshan" project series of projects and the construction of forest resource protection system, improved the new mechanism for forest resource protection, and strengthened scientific and technological support to promote biodiversity conservation, and achieved remarkable results.

Rongshui County has a vast forest of 5.57 million mu, with a forest coverage rate of 82.22%, and a living standing wood accumulation of 29 million cubic meters, ranking the forefront of Guangxi, and a wide variety of wild animals and endangered species make meltwater occupy an important position in Guangxi and even the whole country. There are 303 families, 1232 genera and 3332 species of higher plants, second only to Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province. There are 22 species of wild plants under national key protection, of which the first-level protection is 4 species of Yuanbaoshan fir, southern yew tree, Bole tree, and Hezhu golden lotus tree, and the second-level protection has 19 species of coarse-toothed quercus, South China five-needle pine, Fu Jianbai, horsetail tree and so on. There are 309 species of wild animals, 49 species of national key protected animals, 96 species of guangxi key protected animals, including shrews, pythons, bear monkeys, forest muskets, golden leopards and other 5 kinds of national first-class protected animals, as well as 44 kinds of national second-level protected animals such as macaques and Tibetan chief monkeys, and 26 kinds of animals are included in the IUCN Red List (2010 edition). Among them, four species of Chong'an bearded toad, Zhenhai forest frog, blue-winged leaf plover and brown short-winged warbler found in Yuanbaoshan are newly recorded species in Guangxi, and the Baimeishan partridge, which is listed as a global endangered bird, has 500-600 preserved species in the Jiuwanshan Nature Reserve, which is only found in China. Meltwater is an important passageway for migratory birds in the central Part of Central Asia. About 1 million migratory birds pass by every year, and there are 109 species, of which 13 species such as cygnets and black-crowned falcons are national key protected animals.

In order to ensure the good protection of these rare species, meltwater has for many years established nature reserves as an important measure for biodiversity conservation. After more than ten years of construction, at present, there are 2 national nature reserves in Jiuwanshan and Yuanbaoshan and 1 autonomous region-level Sijian Mountain Giant Salamander Nature Reserve, with a total area of 39817.5 hectares, accounting for 8.6% of the total land area of the county. A nature conservation network with a basically reasonable layout, a relatively complete type and relatively complete functions has been formed. Nature reserves have played a huge role in protecting biodiversity, maintaining ecological balance and promoting the construction of ecological civilization. It has become a demonstration site for the natural evolution of the central subtropical mountain forest ecosystem, a beautiful home for the survival and reproduction of many rare, endangered and endemic organisms, an important guarantee place for regional economic development and an important base for science education, and continue to exert its due ecological service function and utility to provide resource guarantee for regional ecological security and social prosperity and development.
