There are many place names called Waist Fort in northern Liaoning, and there are only a few in Kaiyuan, of which the most influential are the South Waist Fort Village in Majiazhai Town and the (North) Waist Fort Village in Songshan Town. This article first talks about the majiazhai south waist fort.
1. South Waist Fort and North Waist Fort
Why it is called Nanwaibao is to distinguish the waist fort in the north, because between the two waist forts is only a ridge between the ivory mountain apricot blossom stone ridge, although they live in nanshahe and beishahe, each belongs to different townships, but it is a fort of in-law and marriage, and they are each other's sons and daughters, which is very confusing. Therefore, in 1984, when the people had already agreed to be called Nanwaibao, the government respected the will of the people and officially named It was officially named Nanwaibao in accordance with the provisions of not repeating the name of the village in the same county, and reported it to the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China for approval.
2. The waist of the waist fort
In northern Liaoning, there are many tun forts with the name of "waist", such as Kaiyuan and waist city, waist village, waist tun, waist three terraces and other place names, all originate from being between two important castles Tun Zhai, Liaobei dialect is called "is in the waist". Which two forts are in the south waist fort? Naturally, there are two fort villages in the upper and lower reaches of the same Nansha River, one is the upstream neighboring village Ofatai Village, and the other is the downstream neighboring village Majiazhai Village.
3. The original name of the South Waist Fort
The "waist" character of the waist fort, like the "south" character of the south waist fort, is a folk custom, rather than the original name of the big number. Its proper name is big, and it is said that the "Kaiyuan Map" was "Xiangyang Zhaitun" under the jurisdiction of the 20-sided fort Chaihe Fort of the Kaiyuan Frontier. One of the reasons is to use the method of exclusion to exclude that among the people under the jurisdiction of the book "Chaihe Fort Tu theory", there are several larger tun villages such as Majiazhai, Jinjiazhai, and Chenjiatun that exist, and the remaining larger tunzhai is Xiangyang Zhaitun. The second reason is that the mountain backed by the waist fort is called Xiangyang Mountain (now called Ivory Mountain), and the name of the village comes from the mountain name Xiangyang Village. The third reason is that the beacon tower contained in the same book has a balcony under the Songshan Fort in the northern foothills of Xiangyang Mountain, and there is a Xiangyang Shuangtai under the Chaihe Fort in the southern foothills of Xiangyang Mountain, which is now called ShuangtaiLing, and this pair of beacon towers has been discovered. Therefore, it can be determined that the original name of the South Waist Fort was Xiangyang Village.

Recently, reading history, I also found a new proof that the South Waist Fort is Xiangyang Zhai: "Liaodong Zhi Kaiyuan Mountain and River Geographical Map" is marked with "Xiangyang Fort", the location is the Chaoyang Zhaitun under the jurisdiction of Chaihe Fort, indicating that the South Waist Fort is not only called Xiangyang Zhai, but also once called Xiangyang Fort.
Fifth, the waist fort is an ancient village
Tunzhai around the waist fort such as Majiazhai, Jinjiazhai, Mengjiazhai, Meijiazhai, etc. all appeared in the Jin Dynasty or earlier, and since the Waist Fort Ming Dynasty was called Xiangyang Zhai, it appeared in the Jin Dynasty or before it. It can be seen that today's Nanwaibao Village, called Waist Fort Village in the Qing Dynasty, Xiangyang Fort and Xiangyang Zhaitun in the Ming Dynasty, and Xiangyang Zhai in the Jin Yuan to the early Ming Dynasty, was called Xiangyang Zhai.
The former Nanwaibao Village in Ivory Mountain, from ancient times to the present, has a descending power arrangement, and the village names from XiangyangZhai, Xiangyangbao, Xiangyangzhaitun and WaistBao Village to the current Nanwaibao Village, the status is getting lower and lower, and it has been lowered to the extreme.
