According to the Russian Satellite News Agency quoted by the Brazilian "Globe" on the 19th, 9 members of the Brazilian criminal organization dug a tunnel in the cell in the way of "Shawshank Redemption" and then successfully escaped from prison.

The daring escape, which reportedly took place at 3 a.m. on Sunday, saw inmates escape from a prison in Campina da Lagoa, in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná, who are believed to be members of the gang primeiro Comando da Capital. The Brazilian government considers it to be the largest criminal organization in Brazil.
The inmates reportedly dug a hole in one of the cells and then dug a tunnel that led to the station courtyard area. Surveillance footage shows the prisoners climbing out of the tunnel, jumping off the wall and escaping along a path.

One of the fugitives was arrested hours later, reportedly hiding in the home of his former partner. Seven inmates are still at large, their names have been made public, and police have asked insiders to report their whereabouts, but the identity of the ninth inmate has not yet been revealed.
Prior to the escape, the small prison, designed to house 15 prisoners, reportedly held 35 inmates.

The Primeiro Comando da Capital crime group, which emerged in 1993 in Brazil's Taubéte prison, is said to currently have a total of 20,000 members, active in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Paraguay and the United States.
