Later, at the Ciyun Temple, Yu met an old man, repaired his hair, fluttered like a fairy, and Yu saluted. Yu Yu said: "Zi Shi Lu Zhongren also!" I'll be in school next year, so why not study? Yu told the old man to live in the old man's surname. "My surname is Kong, and the Yunnan people are also!" The Emperor of Shaozi counts the positive transmission, and counts the number of ru. ”

Later, when I was at Ciyun Temple, I met an old man with a long beard, a large figure, a calm appearance, and a cool god, and I saluted him respectfully. This old man told me: "You have the life of an official, you should be a person in the officialdom, next year you can pass the examination for the middle school talent and enter the palace of learning, why not study?" "I had no choice but to tell the truth, and ask the old man's name and residence. The old man said, "My surname is Kong, and I am from Yunnan." I have received the canonical transmission of Mr. Shao Kangjie's "Imperial Pole Classic", and I am destined to pass it on to you. ”

So I asked Mr. Kong to return home to live temporarily, and told my mother about these situations. The mother said, "You have to entertain him well." "I asked him to calculate fortunes for me, and the results, no matter how small, were very enlightening. Therefore, I had the idea of reading and discussed the matter with my cousin Shen Zheng. The cousin said: "Mr. Yu Haigu opened a class teaching at Shen Youfu's home, and I sent you to study in his home, which is very convenient." "So I worshiped Mr. Yu as a teacher."

Since then, all those who have been examined by the examination school, whose names have been successively listed, have not been suspended by the Kong Gong. Counting the remaining rice 91 stones and 5 buckets as a tribute, and eating 71 stones of rice, Master Tu approved the tribute. Yu was suspicious.

From then on, all those who encountered the examination and obtained the rank were not predicted by Mr. Kong Lao. Only if I had to receive ninety-one stones and five buckets of rice would I be able to make up for the tribute, but when I received seventy-one stones, Grandmaster Tu approved me to make up for the tribute. Therefore, I began to doubt Mr. Kong's prediction.

The consequences were refuted by The Signature Yang Gong. Until the year of Ding Di, Grandmaster Yin Qiuming saw the yuchang zhongzhong and sighed: "The five strategies, that is, the five pieces of music and discussion, can we make Bo Qia flood the Confucianism and grow old under the window?" "Suiyi County Shenwen Quasi Tribute." Even the former rice is counted, and the real ninety-one stones and five buckets are also counted. Yu Therefore, Yu Yixin, "there is a fate in advance and retreat, and sometimes it is delayed", and there is no need for anything.

Later, Grandmaster Tu wanted to approve my submission to make up the tribute, but it was rejected by Yang Gong, who was acting as a scholar. It wasn't until Ding Di Nian that Grandmaster Yin Qiuming saw the alternative examination papers on my examination hall and couldn't help but sigh and say, "These five articles are like the five treatises on politics presented to the emperor. Therefore, according to the county's submission, he was allowed to be promoted to Gongsheng. Together with the seventy-one stones of rice that had been received in the past, it was indeed ninety-one stones and five buckets. After all these twists and turns, I therefore believe even more that a person's fame and fortune are predestined, and luck comes quickly or slowly, and there is a given time, so for everything in the world, it is very plain, and I no longer want to seek it.

During this period, whenever I have free time, I meditate all day and do not read any books. In his own year, he returned to The Guozijian in Nanjing to study. Before they could enroll, they went to Qixia Mountain to visit the Zen master of the Yungu Festival, and the two of them sat opposite each other in the Meditation Room for three days and three nights without closing their eyes.

Yun Gu asked, "That's why mortals are not allowed to be saints, only for the sake of delusions!" After sitting for three days, he didn't see a single delusion, so why not? Yu Yue: "I calculate for Mr. Kong, honor and disgrace life and death, there is a fixed number, that is, to be delusional, there is no delusion." ”

Zen Master Yungu asked me, "The reason why a person cannot become a saint is only because he is entangled in false thoughts!" You have been sitting quietly for three days, but you have not seen a single delusion, you will not think wildly, what is the reason? ”

I replied, "My fate has been calculated by Mr. Kong Lao, and all gains and losses, even in matters of life and death, are all established things, even if they are delusional, there is nothing to think about!" ”

Yun Gu smiled, "I treated Ru as Haojie, and it turned out that I was just a mortal." Asking why, he said: "Man has not been heartless, but has been bound by yin and yang, and has gained innumerable peace?" But there are only a few mortals. The number of the most virtuous is fixed on him, and the number of the most evil is also uncertain. Ru has been calculated by him for twenty years, and has not turned a single bit, is he not an ordinary man? ”

Master Yungu smiled and said, "I originally thought you were a brilliant haojie, but you were just a mediocre mortal." ”

I listened to what the Zen master said and didn't understand the meaning of the words, so I asked why.

The Zen master replied, "If one cannot get rid of the delusional mind, one will eventually be limited by the two opposites of yin and yang in the universe. But only mortals are subject to fixed numbers. A person who is extremely kind always has good thoughts and often does good deeds, so that he can get blessings away from evil, and the number of qi cannot restrain his fate; the extremely vicious person always has evil thoughts and often does bad things, so that the blessings are depleted and causes disasters, so that the number of qi will also change, and it is impossible to limit his fate. You have been calculated by Mr. Kong for twenty years, but you have never turned in the slightest, are you not a mediocre ordinary man? ”

Yu asked, "But can the number escape?" "Fate is up to me, and blessings are asked for by myself." As the poems call it, it is the MingXun. My teachings say, 'Seek riches and riches, men and women, and long lives.' 'The words of the Buddhas are the great precepts of Shakya, but are the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas deceitful?' ”

I asked further, "But is this definite number evasive?" ”

Zen Master Yungu said, "Life is made by oneself, and blessings are also obtained by oneself." This kind of truth has been explained in ancient poetry books, and it is really a very clear golden jade good word. In our Buddhist scriptures, it is said: 'If you want to ask for riches, you will certainly get rich; if you want to ask for boys and girls, you will also get your wishes; if you want to pray for longevity, you will be able to achieve the need for longevity.' False speech is the fundamental precept formulated by Buddha Shakyamuni, can the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas talk nonsense and deceive people? ”

Yu Jinyue: "Mencius said: 'If you ask for it, you will get it, and you will ask for it.'" 'Morality and benevolence can be pursued; how can merit and wealth be obtained?' Yun Gu said: "Mencius's words are good, Ru Zi misunderstood!" Ru did not see the Six Patriarchs and said, "All the blessings are not far away from the square inch; from the heart, there is no sense of confusion." 'Seek in me, not only moral benevolence, but also fame and wealth; both inside and outside, is 'seeking benefits to gain' also. If you do not introspect and ask outwardly, then 'there is a way to seek, and there is a destiny'! Both inside and outside are lost, so it is not beneficial. ”

After listening to what the Zen master said, I still had doubts in my heart and could not understand, so I asked further: "Mencius once said: 'Whatever can be asked for must be something that I can do.'" Moral benevolence and righteousness are inherent in nature, and can be obtained by self-cultivation by one's own efforts; but merit, fame, and wealth are external, and no one can grasp it, and they must rely on the appreciation and promotion of others. ”

Zen Master Yungu replied, "What Mencius said is not wrong, it is your own failure to deeply understand the meaning and misunderstand the meaning." You have not seen the Six Patriarchs Huineng Zen Master say, "All the blessings of the field are inseparable from our hearts, and as long as we work hard to seek them from the heartland, we will never fail to get the induction." If you can seek it from within yourself, you can not only achieve moral benevolence, but also the merits and riches outside the body. Both inner cultivation and external bliss can be obtained, and this kind of seeking the Dharma is beneficial to obtaining, and it can be called complete. If you don't know how to turn around and examine deep inside yourself, just blindly pursuing fame and fortune, then even if there is a good way or way for you to pursue, it depends on whether you have a life. This kind of seeking the Dharma does not help the inner cultivation, nor can it obtain external benefits; since both the inside and the outside are lost, it is of no benefit. ”

Because he asked, "What if Kong Gong calculates Ru's life?" Yu told the truth. Yun Gu said, "Ru Zi Zi, do you deserve Kodi?" Should I have children? Yu Chai thought for a long time, "Shouldn't it be!" Kodi middle man, class blessed. Yu Fu is thin, but he cannot accumulate merit and deeds, and base himself on a generous blessing; he is also impatient with drama and cannot tolerate people; sometimes he may cover people with wisdom, act straight and straight, and talk lightly. All this is a blessing of the past, is it not advisable to kodi?

Zen Master Yungu then asked me again, "What is the fate of your life, Mr. Kong?" "I told you the details of the situation.

The Zen master said, "If you think about it for yourself, should you take the Kodi exam to get a meritorious name?" Should there be a son? ”

I looked at it for a long time before I replied, "No! Those who have passed the examination and become officials are generally quite blessed. But I am too blessed to be light, and I cannot accumulate merit and good deeds to lay the foundation for great blessings; at the same time, I do not have the patience to deal with tedious and trivial matters; I am narrow in my measure and cannot tolerate others. I often overwhelm others with a little ingenuity of my own; I think of something in my heart and rush to do it without thinking about it; and I like to talk rashly. Like these words and actions, they are all blessed and thin, how can they get the Kodi examination and get the meritorious name?

Those who are defiled by the earth have many creatures, and those who are clear of water often have no fish; those who are clean and clean should be childless. Harmony can nurture all things; Yu is good and angry, and it is advisable to have no children. Love is the foundation of life, forbearance is the root of infertility; Yu Wei cherishes his honor, often cannot sacrifice himself to save others, and it is advisable to have no children. More words and gas consumption, it is advisable to have no children four. Like to drink the essence, it is advisable to have no children five. It is good to sit all night long, and do not know the god of Baoyuan Yu, it is advisable to have no children six. There are still many evils in the rest, and we cannot count them all. ”

On unclean land, many plants can grow; if the water is too clean, there are usually no fish to survive, and I am too fond of cleanliness and almost become inhumane, which is the first factor in the lack of heirs.

Between heaven and earth and the universe, there must be a peaceful atmosphere in order to make all things grow naturally. My temperament, which is irritable and irritable, is the second factor in childlessness.

Love is the foundation of all things, and the lack of compassion is the root of inability to grow. I cherish my name too much, my heart is too hard, and I often don't want to sacrifice myself to save others, which is the third factor that I don't deserve children.

Excessive words, damage to vitality, and affect physical health, should be the fourth factor in the lack of heirs.

I also like to drink alcohol, which leads to excessive mental consumption, which becomes the fifth factor in not having a son.

The love of sitting all night long, lack of sleep, and not knowing how to protect yuan qi and nourish the yuan god are the sixth factors of childlessness.

There are many other faults and bad habits that cannot be fully enumerated. ”

Yun Gu said, "Oh Kodyo! He who enjoys the property of a thousand gold in the world must be a person of a thousand gold; he who enjoys the property of a hundred gold must be a person of a hundred gold; he who should starve to death must be a person who starves to death. The sky is just a matter of material, and it has added a little meaning.

After listening to my self-examination, Master Yungu said, "According to your saying, where you just don't deserve Kodi, I'm afraid there are still many that you shouldn't get!" The person who can enjoy a thousand golden deeds in the world must be a person who has a thousand golden blessings; a person who enjoys a hundred golden deeds must also have a hundred golden blessings; and a person who is starved to death is definitely a person who is destined to suffer the fruits of starvation. Heaven has only treated each man with a thick and proper disposition of the good and evil qualities he has created, so that he can get the results he deserves, and he has added the slightest thought of preference or disgust.

Add to it

"Heaven is only determined by merit", which is quoted from Confucius's praise for King Shun in the "Zhongyong" to illustrate that those who create good and evil will surely "summon" the results of bad luck. That is, the world often says "self-inflicted". Heaven only upholds this "law of nature" to fulfill its duty of "rewarding good and punishing evil", and does not deliberately aggravate it.

That is to say, if he gives birth to a son, he who has the virtue of a hundred lifetimes will have a hundred generations of descendants; those who have the virtue of the tenth generation must have the ten generations of descendants; those who have the virtue of the third and second generations must have the three generations and two generations of the descendants to protect them; they will not have the latter, and the virtue will be thin.

As far as the matter of passing on the lineage is concerned, those who have accumulated a hundred generations of merit will certainly have descendants who can keep this blessing; those who have accumulated ten lifetimes of merit will certainly have ten generations of descendants to keep it; those who have accumulated merit for three or two lifetimes will inevitably have three or two generations of descendants to keep it; as for those whose descendants cannot inherit (there is no good offspring to inherit), it is because their merit is extremely weak.

The sentence "There is no latter in his slashing, and virtue is thin", but Master Yungu exhorted Mr. Fan to work hard to accumulate virtue through the knowledge of ordinary people in the world! If we take the law of cause and effect, whether there are children or not has "causes", it cannot be generalized as "virtue and thinness".

Now that he knows right from wrong, he will always not develop kodi and do not have children, and he will do his best to change it; he must accumulate virtue, he must cover up the wilderness, he must make peace and love, and he must cherish the spirit. From the past, such as yesterday's death; from the latter, such as today's birth. This righteousness regenerates the body also.

Now that you have understood your own faults, you must do your best to correct and eliminate the factors that have never been able to pass the middle school examination and the inability to have a son; you must do more good deeds to accumulate merit, you must be generous and tolerant of people and things, you must be more kind and compassionate to others, and you must cherish your own spirit. All the previous deficiencies, as if yesterday had died, have become the past; from now on, you are as if you were just born today, and everything has begun again; this is the righteous regeneration, the eternal and immortal intelligent life!

The flesh and blood of the husband are still counted, and the body of righteousness cannot be qualified for heaven! The Taijia says: "Heaven does evil, but it is still possible to violate it; if you do your own evil, you must not live." The poem yun: "Forever speak of fate, and seek many blessings for yourself." 'Mr. Kong counts those who do not ascend to Kodi and do not have children, and the sins of this heavenly work can still be obtained and violated; Ru now expands his virtue, strives to do good deeds, and accumulates more yin virtues, and the blessings he has done are also blessed and not enjoyed?

Our flesh-and-blood body still has a certain number of lives; moral life with righteous justice and justice, where can we not touch the heavens! The Book of Shang says, "The calamities of the sins inflicted by heaven can be escaped, but the karma of sin that one has created will suffer evil retribution and will not be able to live in the world safely." The Book of Verses also says, "You should always think about whether what you have done is in accordance with the heavenly path, so that you can seek more blessings for yourself." 'Mr. Kong, even if you cannot get the name of Kodi gong and cannot have a son, this is predestined by heaven, but it can still be avoided or transformed; now you only need to expand your virtues, do good deeds with all your heart, and accumulate yin virtues, which is the merit you have created, where can you not enjoy the blessings you deserve?

"Yi" is a gentleman's plot, and it is auspicious to avoid evil; if the destiny of heaven is constant, how can auspiciousness be tendentious, and how can evil be avoided? In the first righteousness of the opening chapter, it is said: 'The house of good deeds will have a surplus of celebration.' 'Can you trust it?' ”

In the "I Ching", he plans for the virtuous people who are kind and kind, and talks about how to tend to be auspicious and avoid danger. If the destiny set by heaven is eternally fixed and unchangeable, then how can it tend to be auspicious, and where can it avoid danger? The I Ching Kun Gua says: 'Families who are able to do good deeds frequently will surely have excess blessings to pass on to their descendants.' Can you believe that? ”

Yu believed what he said, worshiped and was taught. Because of the sins of the past, the Buddha revealed himself to the fullest, and in order to make a clear, he first asked Dengke and swore three thousand good deeds to repay the virtues of the ancestors of heaven and earth.

I fully believed in the Zen master's teachings and sincerely knelt down to pray and accept his teachings. Therefore, I confessed all the sins I had done in the past before the Buddha without concealment, and Wrote a sparse essay, first asking to get Kodi and vowing to do three thousand good deeds to repay the deep kindness and kindness of the ancestors of heaven and earth.

Yungu showed the remnants of "meritorious deeds" and ordered that all deeds be registered day by day, and the good was counted, and the evil was withdrawn; and the "Quasi-Mention Mantra" was taught in the hope that it would be fulfilled.

Master Yungu showed me the "merits" and asked me to register everything I did every day. When good deeds are done, they are recorded in merit. If evil deeds are done, they are offset by merit according to the size of the evil deeds. The Zen master also taught me to recite the Junti Mantra in the hope that what I was asking for would be effective.

Yu Yu said: "Fu Zhen Jia Youyun: 'I can't write runes, I am laughed at by the ghosts.' 'There is a secret tradition of this, but it is not moving. Writing the book, first put down the ten thousand edges, and it was dusty. From now on the thoughts do not move, the next point, called chaos to open the base. From this stroke, more thoughtlessly, this charm works. Whoever prays for heaven and destiny must feel the dignity from the point of no thought.

Zen master Yungu told me: "Experts who are good at drawing symbols say: 'If you can't draw symbols, you will be ridiculed by ghosts and gods.'" There's a secret trick to passing it down, it's just 'not moving your mind.' Whenever you pick up the Zhu pen to draw a symbol, you must first put down the Ten Thousand Edges, and your heart is pure and pure, and you can't afford to have any distractions. Just when this thought is not moving and the mind is pure, use the pen to open the pen on the rune paper a little, which is called chaos kaiji. It is at this point that the foundation of this rune is laid. From this point on, if you continue to draw a stroke and do not have any distractions in your mind, then this spell will be fulfilled. Anyone who wants to pray to heaven, to pray, or to change one's destiny, is to work any delusional thoughts, so that they can move the heavens and the earth and receive blessings.

Mencius talked about the study of destiny, and said: "Death is not a second life." 'Husband and wife, the second to the second. When it does not move, which is death, which is longevity? Subdivision: Rich and sorry, then can establish the fate of the rich and the poor; poor is not poor, then can establish the life of the noble; longevity is not second, and then the fate of life and death can be established. In the world of life, only death and life are important, and if you die, then all the obedience and disobedience should be done.

Mencius also said of the principle of life- and long-lived, 'There is no difference between a short life and a long life.' Short life and long life are obviously two opposite fates, how can there be no difference? You must know that when a person's delusions are eliminated and his mind is not moving, where is the difference between short life and long life? In fact, this is all just a separate attachment of consciousness! As long as there is a discriminating mind, then the good and evil karma created in past lives and this life is active, and it must be rewarded with blessings or misfortunes, and there will be a distinction between short life and long life.

If we carefully separate them: rich and scarce must be regarded as the same, and each person should be kept in peace and self-preservation, so that the scarce person can be transformed into a rich life; and the person who is rich can thus be blessed for a long time. Poverty and development must be regarded as no different, and they must be done in a disciplined manner, so that the poor can be transformed into a developed life; and the originally developed person can therefore be more blessed and extended. Short-lived and long-lived must be regarded as no different, they should cherish life, abstain from killing and protecting life, and must not act arbitrarily, so that short-lived people can get a healthy and long-lived life; those who are destined for longevity can also live a healthier and longer life. When a person lives in this world, only the question of life and death is the most important, so when it comes to death and longevity, then all the abundance and passing in good times, the apologies and poverty in adversity, are fully included. Therefore, when Mencius talked about the study of life, he only said that he was born and shou, and did not mention anything else.

To cultivate oneself is to pray for heaven. If you cultivate, you should cure all the evil in your body, and if you cultivate it, you should covet it in the slightest, and you will meet it at all, and you should cut it off. At this point, the innate state is created directly, that is, this is the actual learning.

As for Mencius's phrase "cultivate oneself in order to attain it", it refers to the accumulation of merit and prayer to heaven in order to pray for blessings. Speaking of the word 'cultivation', then all kinds of faults and sins that we have committed should be determined to completely eliminate them like a cure. When it comes to the word '俟', it means that when the cultivation of the body is deepened, the fate will naturally turn better. Then, if there is the slightest delusion of non-division, the slightest thought of ups and downs, it must be completely eliminated. At this point, it has reached the realm where the saints cannot afford to be moved, and this is the most truly useful knowledge in the world.

Ru failed to be heartless, but he was able to hold the "Quasi-Ti Mantra", without countless memories, without interruption, with proficiency, without holding in the middle, without holding in the middle. When the thoughts do not move, the spirit is realized. ”

You can't reach the point where you don't have any thoughts in your mind, but if you can hold on to the "Quasi-Ti Mantra", you don't have to memorize it with your heart, and you don't have to count how many times you have to read it, as long as you keep reading it, don't let it break until you are fully skilled, and naturally reach the point where you are chanting in your mouth, but you don't feel that you are chanting (holding and not holding); when you don't chant the mantra, your mind unconsciously remembers it continuously (not holding on to it). If you can continue practicing in this way until all the thoughts do not arise again, then the effectiveness of chanting the mantra will naturally be realized. ”

Yu Chu learned the sea, and it was the day that changed the number to Fan; Gai Wu established the theory of life, and did not want to fall behind the mortals. From then on, all day long, I felt different from before. The day before yesterday was just leisurely laissez-faire, and here there was a scene of trembling and fierceness. In the dark room leaks, he often fears offending the ghosts and gods of heaven and earth. When people hate me and destroy me, I can tolerate it with peace.

At first, I called myself "Xuehai", but since listening to the Zen master's teachings, I changed my name to "Zhifan" that day. Because I have learned the principle of controlling fate, and I do not want to fall into the vulgar opinions of ordinary people. Since then, I have been cautious and reasonable all day, and I feel very different from before. In the past, it was just a leisurely and comfortable life, but now there will naturally be a scene of caution and vigilance, even if it is in the dark room where there is no one, it is often afraid that it will offend the ghosts and gods of heaven and earth. When I encounter someone who hates me and slanders me, my heart can naturally tolerate and accept it peacefully, and I will not bother with others.

From this I have come to understand that anyone who says that one's misfortunes are created by oneself is the words of the sages; if all misfortunes and blessings are predestined by Heaven, that is the argument of ordinary worldly people.

Thinking far away from the virtues of the ancestors, thinking closely about the sorrow of parents; thinking about repaying the grace of the country and thinking about the blessings of the family; thinking about the urgency of the people outside, thinking about the evil of idleness on the inside. A day without knowing right from wrong, that is, a day of self-righteousness; a day without fault to change, that is, a day without steps to move forward. Above, one must think of repaying the favor cultivated by the state society; at the bottom, one must think of seeking the blessings of one's family. For the outside world, we must think of the urgency of saving others; on the other hand, we must think of the psychology and behavior of constantly guarding against impurities. You have to reflect every day to discover your mistakes and correct them every day. If one day does not know what is wrong, that is, one day is satisfied with the status quo, and thinks that there is no fault; every day feels that there is no fault that can be corrected, then there will be no progress in the day.

There are many intelligent and intelligent people under the heavens, and the reason why they cannot cultivate virtue and what they do cannot be expanded is only because the two words "follow the rules" allow themselves to get by, so that they have delayed their lives.

If a person can treat others with the utmost sincerity, then his heart is in harmony with the way of heaven. When a man's blessing is coming, he must be known in advance just by looking at the good deeds he has done, and when the calamity is about to come, he must be able to prejudge just by looking at the evil deeds he has done. Now if we want to be blessed and avoid disasters, we must start by correcting our faults before we even talk about doing good.

But those who have changed, first of all, must be ashamed. The sage of Sigu is the same husband as me, why is he a teacher for a hundred generations, and why is my body torn apart. Dusty feelings, unrighteous deeds, unknowing, proud and unashamed, will fall into beasts without knowing it! The shameful and shameful people of the world are nothing more than this. Mencius said: "The word shame is too important for a person! "For if shame can be known, the way of the sages can be accomplished." If you are not ashamed, you are just like a beast. These words are important tips for correcting mistakes!

Second, be afraid. Heaven and earth are above, ghosts and gods are difficult to deceive, although I am too faint, and the heavens and the earth ghosts and gods, the reality is coming. The heaviest will bring down a hundred disasters, and the light will damage their present blessings. How can I not be afraid?

The second element of the reform is to initiate a "wary of fear." You must know that the heavens and the earth ghosts and gods are monitoring above our heads, and they are difficult to deceive! Even though we have committed crimes in the dark, although it is not easy for everyone to notice, the ghosts and gods of heaven and earth are looking at us like mirrors, and they can see very clearly. If the karma of sin committed is great, it will certainly bring down many calamities. Even a minor mistake can detract from existing blessings. How can we not be afraid?

Not only that. The place of idleness, referring to the obvious, although I hide it very secretly, the text is very clever, and the lungs and liver are exposed early, it is difficult to deceive myself, and it is not worth it! Ude is not embarrassed?

Even in a place where there is no one, the gods still clearly watch and point out all the deeds of the people, although we are very secretly covered up, and the text is very cleverly decorated, but the various thoughts in our hearts have long been revealed, and the gods can see them all very clearly, and it is still difficult to deceive themselves after all; if they are seen through, they will become worthless, how can we not always have a reverent heart?

Not only that. A breath remains, and the evil of heaven can be repented. The ancients had a lifetime of evil, repentance on the verge of death, and a good thought, and a good death. It is said that a thought is fierce, enough to cleanse a hundred years of evil. For example, in the valley of a thousand years, if a lamp is illuminated, the darkness of the millennium will be removed. Therefore, no matter how long it is, it will only be changed to expensive.

Not only that. As long as a person still has a breath, even if he has committed a great sin in the sky, he can still repent. The ancients had been doing evil all their lives, but before they died, they were able to repent and germinate a good thought, so they got the result of a good end.

That is to say, as long as you can send out a courageous and resolute good thought, it is enough to wash away the sins accumulated in your life! For example, in the dark valley of thousands of years, as long as there is a light shining into it, then the darkness of this thousand years can be completely removed. Therefore, whether it is committed a long time ago or recently, only if it can be changed is the most valuable.

But the world is impermanent, the flesh is easy to perish, there is no breath, and there is no reason to change. Ming ze bears notoriety for thousands of years, although filial piety and kindness cannot be washed; you are thousands of disasters and sink into prison, although the sages, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, cannot be invoked. Fearless?

But in the world we are in now, everything is not permanent; our flesh is also very easy to die, as long as the breath does not come, the breath stops, this body is no longer owned by me. At this time, even if you want to change it, there is no way.

Once this point is reached, in the obvious worldly results, it will be reviled by people for thousands of years of bad reputation, although there are good descendants such as filial piety and kindness, they will not be able to wash away this notoriety; as for in the invisible underworld, they will sink into hell and be tortured for a long time, even if they encounter the sages, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, they will not be able to rescue or receive it. How can such evil retribution not be feared?

Third, we must be courageous. People do not change, mostly retreat from the rules. I must cheer up, do not hesitate, do not bother to wait. The small one is like a thorn in the flesh, speed and choice; the big one is like a poisonous snake gnawing its fingers, speed and cutting, without the slightest condensation; the reason why this wind and thunder is beneficial.

The third element of the change must be the initiation of "bravery". Most of the reasons why people cannot correct it after committing a crime are because they have passed and passed, and they have retreated and cowered. After understanding the mistakes, we must immediately make up our minds to correct them, and we must not delay or doubt, let alone hesitate, wait for the east and the west, and dare not make up our minds.

Minor transgressions, as if poked into the flesh by spikes, must be removed quickly. If you have committed a great sin karma, you must cut off your finger as quickly as possible, just like being bitten by a poisonous snake, and you must not hesitate or pause a little, otherwise the venom will spread to the whole body and you will die immediately. This is the reason why wind and thunder constitute "Yi Gua" in the "I Ching".

If it is three hearts, it will be changed, such as spring ice meets the sun, why not go away?

If we have these three kinds of minds—shame, fear, and courage—then once we find that we have made a mistake, we can immediately correct it; just as a spring ice cube meets the sun, and we must worry that it will not melt away?

However, in the transgressions of man, there are those who are engaged in upward reform, there are those who change from reason, and there are those who change from the heart; the work is different, and the effect is also different. If the day before he killed, he will not kill now; if he was angry the day before, he who would not be angry now will not be angry; he who will change it according to his own affairs will also be. Forced to the outside, it is a hundred times more difficult, and the root of the disease is finally there, the east is destroyed and the west is born, and it is not the ultimate way.

However, the faults of ordinary people are abstained from the facts of the offenses themselves, corrected by knowing the truth, and corrected by the mind; the degree of effort exerted is different, so the results obtained are different. For example, if you killed life before, you will no longer kill it now; if you were angry and cursed, you will now abstain from being angry again; this is to change it for what you have committed.

However, this is only a bare constraint from the outside, and it will be a hundred times more difficult than to change it fundamentally and naturally; and the root cause of the crime still exists, and after the east has barely eliminated it, the west side has emerged again, which is really not a method of completely sweeping away.

Those who have changed well, do not forbid their things, first understand their reasoning. If you are killing, that is, thinking: God is good at life, everything is in love with life, killing the other to feed oneself, how can we be at peace with ourselves? And the killing of the other is also slaughtered, and all kinds of pain are penetrated into the bone marrow. Self-nourishment, precious anointing list, eating is empty, sparse food soup, as much as you can fill the belly, why kill the other's life, damage your own blessings!

A person who is good at reforming should understand the reason why he cannot do something before he is forbidden to do something. For example, if the fault lies in the killing of life, we should think: Heaven has the virtue of good life, all animals love their own lives, if you kill them to nourish your body, how can you feel at ease? And when it was killed, it was already slaughtered, and before it could stop breathing, it was put into a pot to be boiled, and all kinds of pain penetrated into the bone marrow.

In order to nourish their own lives, people put all kinds of precious and fat things in front of their eyes and enjoy them to the fullest, but they did not expect that after eating these delicacies, they would also turn into feces and discharge, and in the end everything would be empty. In fact, vegetarian vegetable soups such as vegetables are enough for people to fill their stomachs and supply energy to support their own lives, so why must they kill their lives to damage their own blessings!

And the genus of flesh and blood contains gnosis, and there is gnosis, and all are one with me. Even if I can't cultivate to the highest degree of virtue, so that I can respect myself and kiss me, how can I kill my life day by day, so that I will hate me and regret me in infinity? Thinking about this, there will be those who are sad about food and cannot swallow.

It must also be thought that everything that has blood and qi has spiritual awareness; since there is spiritual awareness, it is no different from us humans. Even if we are not able to cultivate ourselves to the highest virtues, so that they can respect me and draw near to me, how can they kill the lives of animals every day, so that they will form a grudge against me and hate me endlessly? Thinking of this kind of truth, whenever faced with a table full of flesh and blood food, he naturally sent out a sad and compassionate heart, and could not bear to swallow it again.

As the day before, if you were angry, you will think: If people are not enough, it is appropriate to be cautious. Paradoxes are related to me, so why should I? Ben has no anger. He also thinks that there is no self-righteousness in the world, nor is there any special learning, and there is no way to do it, and all of their own virtues have not been cultivated, and they have not yet felt it. I know that if I rebel against myself, then when I slander it, it will be a place of refinement, and I will be blessed with joy, and what anger is there?

For example, if you like to lose your temper before, you should think that everyone has shortcomings, which should be pitied and forgiven in theory. If someone offends me against reason, it is his own fault, and what does it have to do with me? There's nothing to be angry about. It should also be thought that there is no self-righteous hero Haojie in the world, nor does he resent the learning of others. If what you do can't be satisfactory, it is because your own virtue is not well cultivated, your cultivation is still insufficient, and the strength to move people is not enough!

These should all be self-reflective, so that all kinds of external slander and harm will become a helping force for tempering us and achieving us. So what is there to be angry about receiving this kind of teaching with joy?

And if he hears slander but is not angry, though he burns the heavens, if he raises a fire and burns it into the air, he will eventually rest himself. Angry at slander, although skillful and argumentative, like a spring silkworm as a cocoon, self-inflicted and entangled. Anger is not only useless, but also harmful. All the other transgressions should be rationalized. This principle is clear, and it will stop at itself.

Moreover, hearing the slander of others without anger, although these bad words are like flames filling the sky, are just like fools holding torches and wanting to burn the void, and finally they will extinguish and stop themselves. If you hear the slander and get angry, although it is a clever effort to defend yourself, it is like a silkworm in the spring spitting silk into a cocoon, and it will only entangle itself. Therefore, anger is not only not good for itself, but also harmful.

All other transgressions and sins should be seriously considered on the basis of objective reasoning. If this truth can be understood, the fault will naturally stop and will not be violated again.

What is change from the heart? A thousand ends, but the heart is made; my heart is not moving, and I am born in peace? Scholars do not have to seek lust, good names, good goods, and anger, all kinds of faults, and they do not have to seek them one by one, but when they are single-minded and righteous, they will not be polluted by evil thoughts. If the sun is empty, the rays disappear, and the true transmission of this essence is also true. It is made by the heart, and it is also changed by the heart, such as cutting off the poisonous tree, cutting off its roots, and cutting down the branches and leaves and picking them!

How can it be called a change from the heart?

Although there are thousands of kinds of mistakes committed by people, they are all made up from the heart. If we can not afford to be moved, where will the fault come from?

A reader who pursues learning does not have to look for ways to change his mistakes one by one for all kinds of mistakes such as loving beauty, liking for fame, coveting possessions, and liking anger, as long as he can wholeheartedly develop a kind heart and do good deeds, always observe his own mind, and wait until the mind of the great light emerges, then naturally he will not be contaminated by evil thoughts. It is as if the hot sun shines on the earth in the air, and all the monsters will naturally hide and disappear, which is the real magic of the most sincere and single-minded transformation.

Human transgressions are created by the heart, so they should also be corrected from the heart. Just like to cut off a poisonous tree, you must directly cut off its roots and prevent it from sprouting again, so why cut down one branch at a time, and remove it leaf by leaf!

The one who is most of the highest heals the mind and is pure in the present moment. Only when you move is you aware, and when you are aware, you are not. If this is not the case, it must be clearly dismissed. And if this is not the case, it must be forbidden as it pleases. It is not a mistake to do the above and do the work at the same time; it is clumsy to cling to the work and be ignorant.

The most brilliant method of reform is to work from the cultivation of the mind, so that the mind can be purified in the present. Whenever a bad thought has just occurred in the mind, it can be immediately perceived, and then immediately let this thought disappear, and the fault will naturally not arise again.

If this state is not possible, it is necessary to understand the reasoning in order to dispel bad thoughts. If this is not possible, then one has to forcibly forbid oneself to commit a crime as the evil deed is about to be committed.

It would be a good idea to restrain one's thoughts with superior mental work, and to use both sensible and inferior ways of forbade them; it would be foolish to cling to the inferior method and not know how to use the superior method.

Gu Fa wished to change, Mingshu Liangpeng reminded, and the ghost god proved it. Repentance with one heart, day and night unremittingly, will be effectively tested through 17, 27, and even January, February, and March. Or feel the mind is idyllic, or feel the wisdom suddenly open, or everywhere is redundant and the thoughts are all connected, or in the face of resentment and resentment, or dream of vomiting black things, or dream of carrying and leading to the sages, or dream of flying too vain, or dream of building a treasure cover. All kinds of victories are also the image of the elimination of sin. However, it is not allowed to hold on to this arrogance, and the painting does not enter.

But the wish to change is also a need for help, and in the obvious place, there must be a good teacher and a good friend to remind us; in the dark aspect, there must be a ghost god to prove it for us. As long as we can repent wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly of the mistakes we have made in the past, and do so day and night without slackness, then after a week, two weeks, until a month, two months, three months, it will certainly have an effect.

At this stage, you may feel the comfort of the spirit and the openness of the mind; or feel the wisdom suddenly open, a thousand enlightenments; or in the midst of cumbersome chaos, but can touch the bypass, successfully completed; or encounter the former resentment of the family, but can transform the hatred, the heart rejoices; or dream of spitting out the filthy black things formed by the past evil karma, and suddenly cool; or dream of the ancient sages to help lead, the future is bright; or dream of flying and walking in space, free; or dream of all kinds of solemn flags, And umbrella covers decorated with precious jewelry.

Special situations like these are symbols of the elimination of fault and the extinction of sin karma! But we should not cling to these realms, think that the degree is very high, and limit ourselves, and no longer strive for progress.

By the age of twenty-one, he knew that what had been changed before him had not been exhausted. And twenty-two years old, looking back at twenty-one years old, still in a dream. Mr. Zhi was not able to refuse any more, so he prepared the dowry according to etiquette and married the prisoner's daughter. Later, he gave birth to ZhiLi, and when he reached the age of twenty, he was admitted to the examination, ranked first, and his official position reached the Kongmu of the Hanlin Academy. Both father and son were sponsored as instructors of state and county schools. Zhi Lu's son, Zhi Da Lun, passed the jinshi examination.

All these ten deeds, which are different, are all attributed to the good. If we say that there is a repetition of refinement, then there are good and false, there are ends and curves, there are yin and yang, there are right and wrong, there are partial and positive, there are half full, there are big and small, there are difficulties and easys, all should be deeply discerned. For the sake of goodness and not in exhaustion, he claims to be doing what he does, and he knows that he has done evil, and he has wasted his painstaking efforts and is useless.

The ten stories mentioned above, although the things they do are different, they are all doing good deeds with a good heart, and they all belong to the same good path after all.

If explained in great detail, then this goodness has true goodness and false goodness; there are straight and curved goodness; there are unknown goodnesses, there are well-known goodnesses; there are proper and improper ones; there are deviations and correct goodnesses; there are half-good and perfect ones; there are great goodes and small goodes; there are difficult and easy ones. Different situations must be deeply distinguished.

If you just blindly do good deeds without carefully studying the truth, then although you boast about how many good deeds you have done, how much merit you have accumulated, and how long you have been practicing, you do not know that you have created sins, so it often becomes a waste of effort and will not get any benefit at all.

What is true or false? In the past, there were several generations of Confucian students, the gurudwara monk, who asked: "The Buddha's discussion on the retribution of good and evil is like a shadow. Now someone is good, but the children are not happy; someone is evil, and the house is prosperous. The Buddha said nonsense! Zhongfeng Yun: "Whoever has not purified his feelings, has not opened his eyes, recognizes good as evil, and refers to evil as good, and often has it." Do not regret that one's own right and wrong are reversed, but that the retribution against heaven should be different? "What is the opposite of good and evil?" Zhongfeng Order tried to say what it was. One person said: "It is evil to beat people, and it is good to respect and honor people." Zhongfeng Yun: "Not necessarily also." One person said: "Greed for money is evil, and honesty and obedience are good." Zhongfeng Yun: "Not necessarily also." "Everyone has said this, but Zhongfeng has said otherwise.

What is true goodness and false goodness?

Once upon a time, several readers went to see Master Zhongfeng Ming and asked him, "The Buddhists say that good has good rewards and evil has evil consequences, just like a person's shadow, it will accompany him closely and will not miss it at all." Now a man has good deeds in his heart, but his descendants are not developed; a man who does many evil deeds, but the family way prospers. It can be seen that the karma that the Buddha said is simply without evidence. ”

Master Zhongfeng replied, "Ordinary people, the worldly feelings have not yet been purified, and the wisdom of discerning the Fa-rectification has not yet been enlightened, so it is easy to be deceived, and it is often the case that the good is considered to be evil and the evil is referred to as good. Why not regret that your standard of right and wrong has been reversed, but instead complain that there is something wrong with the retribution of good and evil in heaven? ”

Everyone says, "How can good and evil be seen as opposites?" Master Zhongfeng Guo listened and asked them to try to tell the specific situation.

One man said, "It is evil to curse and beat people; it is good to be respectful and courteous to others." Zhongfeng Guoshi replied, "This is not necessarily true!" Another went on to say, "It is evil to covet money and not to resort to any means; it is good to do things in the right way without corruption!" Zhongfeng Guoshi still replied, "This is not necessarily right." ”

Everyone said their opinions one by one, but Zhongfeng Guoshi said that they were not necessarily.

Please ask. Zhongfeng told him: "What is beneficial to others is good; what is beneficial to oneself is evil." If it is beneficial to others, it will beat others and curse others to be good; if it is beneficial to oneself, it will respect others and honor others and be evil. "It is the good deeds of the deceased, and those who benefit others are just, and the public is true; those who benefit themselves are private, and those who are selfish are false." And the one who has the heart is true, and the one who has traced it is false. And those who do nothing are true, and those who do something are false. All should be self-tested.

The various situations mentioned by these readers were all denied by Zhongfeng Guoshi, so in turn I asked how to distinguish between good and evil. Master Zhongfeng guoshi told them, "What is beneficial and harmless to others is good; although it looks like a good deed on the surface, it is actually only beneficial to oneself, and that is evil." If it is beneficial to others, then even if it is good to beat people and scold people, it is good; if it is only beneficial to oneself, then even if it is respectful to others and treats others with courtesy, it is also evil. ”

Therefore, if a person does good deeds that are beneficial and harmless to others, it is for the public, and everything is true for the public; if he only wants to benefit himself, he is selfish, and for selfishness is false. Moreover, doing it with sincerity from the heart is true and good; if it is only doing things, there is no sincerity in the heart, this is false goodness. Also, the good deeds done without any desire are true goodness; the good deeds done for a certain purpose are false goodness. Like these truths, you should think carefully about yourself.

What is a qudal? Today's people see those who wish for good, and the saints prefer to be mad. As for those who wish, though all the townspeople are good, they will think of themselves as thieves of virtue. It is the good and evil of the world, which is clearly the opposite of the saints. Pushing this end, all kinds of trade-offs, all fallible. The blessings, goodnesses, and evils of the heavens and the earth, ghosts, and gods, are all the same as the saints, not with the world. Whoever desires to accumulate goodness must not be blinded, but from the source of the heart, silently washed. Pure is the heart of the world, then it is the end; if it has a heart of the world, it is a song. If it is purely the heart of the lover, it is the end; if there is a cynical heart, it is a song. Pure reverence is the end; if there is a cynical heart, it is a song. All should be discerned.

What is a duanqu?

Now the average person sees a man who is careful and prudent, who seems to be loyal but not strong, and thinks that he is a good man, and many people value him; but the saints of ancient times preferred to choose people who seemed to be wild, but who were enterprising and principled. As for the generally seemingly cautious "Mr. Good", although the people in the township like him, this kind of person has a weak personality, no principles and ambition, and lacks moral courage, so it is easy to go with the flow, so the saints think that this kind of person is like a thief who invades morality.

In this way, the good and evil identified by secular people are clearly contrary to the standards of the saints. Extrapolating from this concept, none of the many things that secular people affirm or deny are not absurd. The standards of right and wrong of the heavens and the earth ghosts and gods for blessing the good and the evil are the same as the saints, but different from the worldly concept of trade-offs.

Therefore, whoever wants to accumulate good deeds must not bend from what his eyes like to see and what his ears like to hear, but must silently examine his own impulses and purify them from the most intimate and subtle places of the inner source.

The heart is purely with the mentality of saving the world and helping others, this is the end; if there is a little bit of a heart to please the world, it is a song. Purely loving the heart of the world, it is the end; if there is a slightest uneven heart toward the world, it is a song. Purely from within arises a heart of respect for people, that is, the end; the heart that plays with and deceives the world a little bit, is the song. These should be carefully distinguished.

What is Yin and Yang? Whoever knows it for the sake of goodness is yang, and for the sake of goodness and no one knows it, it is yin. Yin Virtue, Heavenly Retribution; Yang Goodness, Enjoy world fame. Name, also Fukuya. Famous, forbidden by creation. Those who enjoy the fame of the world but are not worthy of the truth have many miracles; those who are blameless and are notorious, their descendants often have a sudden appearance. Yin and yang are slightly gone!

What is yin and yang?

Whoever does good deeds and lets others know is yang; doing good deeds without being known to others is yin virtue. If yin virtue is accumulated, the heavens will surely bless him; as for yang, he can only enjoy great fame. To be able to enjoy fame is also a blessing. But fame is taboo in heaven! Most of those who enjoy great fame in the world, but who do not correspond to the facts, will incur unexpected disasters; and those who have not made mistakes but have been imposed on them for no reason will often develop suddenly.

From this point of view, the boundary between yin and yang is really very delicate.

What is right and wrong? According to the law of the State of Lu, the Lu people have to redeem people and concubines to the Marquis of Qi, and they are all subject to the jin yufu. Zigong ransomed people without being fed, and Confucius smelled evil: "Give and lose!" The husband and saint can change customs and customs by doing things, and the teachings can be applied to the people, not only for their own actions. Nowadays, the rich in the country are few and the poor are many, and it is not honest to receive gold, so why should they redeem each other? From now on, there will be no redemption of the princes. "The son of the road saves the person from drowning, and his people thank him for the cattle, and the son of the road receives it." Confucius was pleased: "Since the present-day lu country, many people have been saved from drowning." ”

What is right and wrong?

In the Spring and Autumn Period, the State of Lu enacted a law that if the people of the country were willing to pay money to redeem prisoners or slaves, they could receive a bonus from the government's financial department. Confucius's student Zigong also ransomed people, but was unwilling to accept the reward. When Confucius heard about this, he was very unhappy and said, "This matter is wrong for DuanMuci!" The purpose of the great saints in doing anything is to change the customs and customs, so that the way of enlightenment can be smoothly promoted in the folk, not just to suit their own virtues! Now there are few rich people and many poor people in the country, and if because of this behavior, those who accept the reward money are considered greedy for money, who will be willing to pay for the redemption of those prisoners or slaves in the future? I am afraid that from now on, no one will be willing to pay for the redemption of the people from the princely states! ”

Zilu once rescued a man who fell into the water, and this person sent Zilu a cow to thank him for saving his life, and Zilu accepted it. After hearing this, Confucius said happily: "From now on, there will be more people in lu who are willing to spontaneously save those who have fallen into the water." ”

From the conventional point of view, the zigong is not favored by gold, and the sub-road is inferior to the cattle. Confucius took the reason and deposed him. It is to know that man is good, whether it is present, but to talk about evil; no matter what is temporary, but how long it is; no matter what is one, but what is the world. Although the present is good, and its flow is enough to harm others, it seems to be good but not true; although the present is not good, and its flow is enough to help others, it is not good but it is also true. However, this is a section of the ear. He should choose between unrighteous righteousness, indecent propriety, unbelief faith, unmeritful mercy.

The above two things, from the perspective of secular people, Zigong does not accept bonuses, and his character seems to be superior. Zilu accepted the gift of cattle, which is a bad behavior. But Confucius praised Zilu and denigrated Zigong. It can be seen from this that when a person does good deeds, he cannot judge good or bad only according to his behavior at that time, but should consider the sequelae derived later; he must not only look at the right and wrong at that time, but must think of the results after a long time; he must not only talk about personal gains and losses, but must look at the impact on the public. Although what is done in front of the eyes is good, but its consequences will harm others, then even if it looks like a good deed, it is not; if the action done in front of the moment is not good, but its consequences are beneficial to people, then the present does not look like a good thing, but it is actually a good thing.

However, this is only based on this example! Others seem to be righteous, but in fact they are not in line with righteousness; they seem to be in accordance with etiquette, but in fact they are contrary to etiquette; they seem to be very trustworthy, but in fact they are not; they seem to be very compassionate, but in fact they are not; they seem to be very compassionate, but in fact they are a kind of appeasement and connivance. Questions like this should be carefully chosen.

What is partial positive? Xi Lu Wen Yi Gong, the first resignation phase, returned to his hometown, the sea looked up, such as Taishan Beidou. There was a villager who was drunk and cursed, and Lü Gong did not move, saying to his servant: "Do not compare the drunk with him." "Thank you behind closed doors. Over the years, when his men were sentenced to death and imprisoned, Lü Gong repented: "If you make a little calculation at that time, send the public family for punishment, you can punish them with small punishments and take big precepts." I only wanted to be thick at that time, not to cultivate its evil, so that it was so. "This one who does evil with a good heart also.

What is partial positive?

In the past, when Duke Lü Wenyi resigned his position as prime minister and returned to his hometown, because of his good character and clean officials, the people of the whole country admired him very much, just like Mount Tai and the Big Dipper. A villager scolded Lü Gong after getting drunk, but Lü Gong was not angry, but said to the servant of the family: "This man is drunk, don't bother with him." So he closed the door and ignored it.

A year later, this man was imprisoned for a capital crime, and Lü Gongcai said remorsefully: "If I had thought about him a little bit and sent him to the government for punishment, perhaps this small punishment could have made him more vigilant." I only thought of being lenient with others, but unexpectedly let him develop bad behavior, and he would fall to this point. ”

This is an example of having a good heart and turning into doing evil.

And there are those who do good deeds with disgust. For example, if a certain family is rich and the years are in short supply, the poor people grab the millet in the city during the day. Tell the county, the county ignores, the poor people are more and more wanton. If you are selfish and humiliated, the multitude will decide. Otherwise, a few messes. Therefore, the good is good, and the evil is partial, and everyone knows it. Those who do evil with a good heart are in the middle, and those who do good deeds with disgust are biased in the middle. Must know also.

Another example is doing good deeds in disgust:

Like a very wealthy family, one year there was a famine, and some poor people openly robbed the streets of food during the day. The rich man took the matter to the county government, but the county magistrate ignored it, so the poor people were even more indulgent. This rich man's family was forced to do so, so they privately asked people to arrest the robbers, lock them up, humiliate them, and torture them. Only after this punishment did the people who robbed the grain calm down and stop snatching everywhere, or it would almost become a chaotic situation.

Therefore, what is good is positive and what is evil is biased, and this is known to everyone. As for those who originally had good intentions but evolved into doing evil deeds, this is called the deviation of the middle; and the original disgusting, but instead becomes doing good deeds, it is called the rightness of the middle. This truth cannot be understood.

What is half full? "Yi" said: "Good is not accumulated, not enough to become famous; evil is not accumulated, not enough to destroy the body." The Book says: "Business sins are abundant, such as storing things in utensils." "If you are diligent and accumulate, you are full; if you are slack and do not accumulate, you are dissatisfied." This one says also.

What is half full?

The I Ching says, "If good deeds are not accumulated, they cannot achieve a good reputation." If evil deeds are not accumulated, they will not provoke the scourge of killing. The Book of Shang says: "After several generations, the sin karma of the Shang Dynasty has accumulated a lot! It's as if the money shell is strung with rope, and it's like a collection of items stuffed into the whole container. "If it can be accumulated seriously, it will naturally accumulate one day." If you slack off and don't accumulate, of course, it won't be full. This is a half-full saying.

In the past, a woman of a certain clan entered the temple, wanted to give but had no money, stopped having money and two texts, donated with it, and the chairman personally repented. Later, when he entered the palace and became rich, he entered the monastery with thousands of gold, and the main monk only ordered his disciples to return. Because he asked, "Before I gave money and two texts, the master himself repented; now I give thousands of gold, and the master does not return, why not?" "Although the former is thin, but the heart is very true, it is not enough to repay the virtue of the old monk's personal confession; although the present thing is thick, the heart is not as good as the previous day's cut, and it is enough for people to confess!" "This thousand gold is half, and the second text is full."

Once upon a time, a woman with a certain surname went to a Buddhist temple, but she wanted to give alms but had no money, and she only had two pieces of money on her body, so she donated all of them to the temple. The abbot of the temple, the monk, personally prayed for her repentance. Later, the woman entered the palace to gain wealth and took thousands of gold to the temple to give alms, but the abbot monk only asked his apprentice to do it for her.

She was very confused, so she asked the abbot, "I used to give two pieces of money, and you personally repented for me; now I have donated thousands of gold, but you have not returned for me. The abbot said, "Although the goods you have given in the past are relatively small, your heart of generosity is very sincere, and if I do not personally repent and pray for you, it will not be enough to repay you for this merit." Although the goods you give now are very rich, your sincerity is not as earnest as before, and it is enough to ask someone to repent on your behalf. ”

This is the truth that a thousand gold is half good, but the second text is full of goodness.

Zhong Li gave Dan to Lü Zu, and ordered iron for gold, which could save the world. Lu asked, "Will it eventually change?" "Five hundred years later, when the essence is restored." Lü Yue: "This will harm people in five hundred years, and I don't want to do it!" "Cultivators should accumulate three thousand meritorious deeds, and ru said that the three thousand meritorious deeds were already full." This is also said.

The Taoist priest Zhong Liquan wanted to teach Lü Dongbin the method of alchemy, which had a Daoist technique that turned Dan points into gold on iron, which could be used to relieve the poor people in the world. Lü Dongbin asked him: "After becoming gold, will it change back into the original iron in the future?" Zhong Li replied, "After five hundred years, it will still return to its original texture." Lu Dongbin said, "This will harm people five hundred years from now, and I don't want to do this kind of thing!" Zhong Li listened and told him, "To cultivate the Immortal Dao, you must first accumulate three thousand merits, and just by virtue of your words, the three thousand merits have been completed." ”

This is another way of saying half-goodness and fullness.

And if he is not good for the sake of goodness, he will be fulfilled as he pleases; and his heart will be full of goodness, and though he will be diligent all his life, he will stop at the half-good. For example, if you help others with wealth, you don't see yourself inside, you don't see people outside, you don't see what you give, it means that the three wheels are empty, it is said that the heart is pure, then dousu can plant endless blessings, and one article can eliminate the sins of a thousand disasters. If this heart does not forget, although the gold is thousands of yokes, the blessing is not satisfied. This is also said.

Moreover, although you have done good deeds, but your heart is not worried about the good deeds you have done, then whatever kind of good deeds you do, you can achieve the perfection of merit. If the mind is always obsessed with the good deeds that have been done, even if you have been very diligent in doing good deeds throughout your life, it is only half good.

For example, if you can take money and wealth to help others, if you can do it without being able to give alms, without thinking about the person who receives almsgiving, and without thinking about the goods and goods that you give, these three things will not be put in your heart at all, that is, the three rounds of emptiness mentioned in the Buddhist scriptures, which can also be said to be pure in mind and without any trace.

If you can do this, then even if you just give a bucket of grain, you can plant an immeasurable and boundless blessing. Even if it is only a penny, it can also eliminate the sin karma accumulated over a thousand eons. If this mind is still obsessed, then even if it gives ten thousand pieces of gold, the blessings received will not be fulfilled.

That's another way of saying it.

What is size? Xi Wei Zhongda served as a museum and was taken to the Meditation Division, and the lord ordered the officials to present the two records of good and evil. Compared to the end, then the evil record is in the court, and its good record is only like a stick. According to the scale, the one who wins the court is light, and the one who is like a ruler is heavy. ZhongDa said, "In a certain year, before forty years, how much evil is there?" "If a thought is not correct, it is not to be offended." ”

What is the size?

In the past, there was a Wei Zhongda who served as an official in the Hanlin Courtyard. Once his soul was caught in hades by the underworld, and the chief judge asked the clerk to present him with a record of the good and evil he had done in the human world. When the booklets arrived, they found that the books recording evil deeds were piled up all over the courtyard. And the book of records of doing good is only as small as chopsticks. The chief judge ordered his subordinates to weigh themselves with a scale, and did they know that the books that recorded evil deeds in the courtyard were lighter, while the good books as small as chopsticks were heavier.

After Zhongda saw the record of good and evil in Hades, he asked in a puzzled way, "I am not yet forty years old, why is there so much evil?" The presiding judge said: "As long as there is one idea that is not correct, it is already considered to be evil, and it does not have to wait until it is actually done." ”

Because he asked what was written in the scroll. "The imperial court tried to build a great work, repaired the stone bridge of the three mountains, and the Junshang shuzhi, and this manuscript was also neglected." Although Zhongda said: "Although the court does not obey, it will not help anything, but can it have the power to do so?" "Although the imperial court does not obey, the king's thoughts are already in the people." Obey the messenger, and the power of goodness is greater! "Therefore, when the nation under heaven is determined, the good is small but great; though it is in one body, although it is many, it is small."

Zonda therefore asked what was recorded in the book. The presiding judge replied, "The imperial court once carried out a great project to build a stone bridge in the Sanshan area, and you presented the emperor with a chapter to persuade you to stop this project, so as not to hurt the people and their wealth. ”

Zhongda said, "Although I have been on the recital, but the imperial court has not accepted advice, how can I have such a great merit?" The presiding judge replied, "Although the court did not heed your advice, this good thought in your heart was already for the sake of the whole people." If it is really adopted, then the meritorious power of this goodness will be even greater. ”

Therefore, if one's ambition is to seek the welfare of the people of the whole world and the future of the country, then although the good deeds done are few, the merits are great; if one only thinks for one's own sake, although the good deeds are done, the merits that can be obtained are very small.

What is difficulty? The First Confucian said, "Self-denial must go from the place of difficulty." The Master's theory of benevolence also said: "It is difficult to be difficult first." "It will be like Jiangxi Shu Weng, who will only receive the bundle of cultivation for two years, and pay tribute to the official silver, and the whole couple." With Zhang Weng of Handan, he gave up the money accumulated for ten years to redeem the silver instead of a living wife. All are called difficult places to give up. For example, Zhenjiang Jin Weng, although old and childless, could not bear to take a young girl as a concubine, and returned to his neighbor, this difficult place can endure. Therefore, the blessings of heaven are also thick. Whoever is rich and powerful, his virtue is easy, easy and not to do, is for self-violence; it is difficult for the poor to do blessings, and it is difficult to do it, and it is difficult to do it.

What is difficult?

Once upon a time, learned readers said, "If you want to restrain your selfish desires, you must start from the most difficult aspect to restrain." Confucius, in response to his disciple Fan Chi's question about "what is the way of benevolence," also said, "Start by working from a more difficult place." ”

Like Mr. Shu Lao in Jiangxi, we must give up the meager salary that we have received from teaching for two years to replace the poor in paying the money owed to the government, so that the poor couple can avoid the tragedy of separation. Like Mr. Zhang Lao, in the Handan region of Hebei Province, he gave up the money he had saved for ten years to repay the ransom in place of a poor man and save the wife and children of the poor family. Both of these situations are so-called "difficult to give up".

Just like Mr. Jin Lao in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, although he was old and childless, his neighbor was very poor and wanted to marry his young daughter to him as a concubine, but he could not bear to delay the girl's youth, and gave it back to the neighbor. This is to be able to endure firmly under very unbearable circumstances.

The spirit of these old gentlemen who are "difficult to give up" and "unbearable and bearable" is really difficult for ordinary people to achieve, so the blessings given to them by heaven are particularly rich.

It is easier for people from relatively wealthy and powerful families to establish merit. It's easy, but you don't want to do it, which is really self-destructive. As for those whose families are poor and have no status, it is more difficult to do good deeds and cultivate blessings. Although it is difficult, it is valuable to be able to do it with all your heart.

With the circumstances of the multitude, its kind is the most complex, about its outline, about ten: First, be kind to people. Second, love and respect. Third, the beauty of adulthood. Fourth, persuade others to be good. Fifth, saving people is in danger. Sixth, build Dali. Seventh, give up your wealth for blessings. Eighth, uphold the Fa-rectification. Ninth, respect and respect the elders. Tenth, cherish the life of things.

There are many kinds of things that help sentient beings by chance, and if we briefly explain the most important parts of it, there are about ten aspects:

First, help others when they see them doing good deeds.

Second, we must have a heart of love and affection for those who are younger, younger in generations, and have a poorer family background; we must have a respectful heart for those who are older, have higher generations, and have better moral learning.

Third, when you encounter someone who is doing good, you must do your best to fulfill it, and you must not be jealous or destroyed.

Fourth, if there is a person who is unwilling to do good, or who likes to do evil, try to persuade him to stop evil and do good.

Fifth, when others encounter danger or emergency, they should do their best to rescue or assist.

Sixth, for things that are of great interest to the state, society and the people, we should mobilize them wholeheartedly according to our own ability, or participate in the completion of them.

Seventh, people who have savings are best able to do more good deeds of generosity, not only to help people get rid of their difficulties, but also to cultivate blessings for themselves.

Eighth, truths or methods that can increase wisdom and knowledge should be protected and maintained.

Ninth, we must pay more respect to those who are well-educated, knowledgeable, virtuous, elderly, and in positions higher than their own.

Tenth, all flesh-and-blood animals must be loved and cherished, and their lives must not be killed or abused at will.

What is kindness to others? Xi Shun was in Leize, and saw that the fishermen all took the deep pool and thick zeze, while the old and weak fished in the rapids and shoals, and they mourned and fished. Those who see the controversy hide their faults and do not talk about it; those who see concessions will exalt and take the law. Every year, all of them give way to the deep pool of thick ze! Fu Yi Shun's wisdom, can't he teach everyone a word? But not by words, but by body, this good work is also painstaking.

What is kindness to others?

Before Shun succeeded to the throne, he saw young and strong fishermen on the edge of Lei Ze Lake in the southeast of Pu County, Shandong Province, and they all chose to fish in places with deeper water levels, more water gatherings, and fish clusters; while those who were old and weak could only catch fish in the beaches with fast water, shallow lakes and few fish. Shun, witnessing this phenomenon, was very compassionate to these old and weak fishermen, so he personally went into the water to participate in fishing.

Therefore, any temple and image dedicated to the sages, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, or scriptures should be respected with respect; if there is any destruction, it must be repaired and sorted out. As for reverting and promoting the Fa-rectification with a respectful heart, in order to repay the Great Grace of the Buddhas for coming to open up the Dharma-body wisdom of sentient beings, this is all the more important thing that we should exhort each other and strive to implement.

What is respect for the elders? The father and brother of the family, the ruler of the country, and all those who are old, virtuous, high, and high-minded, should all serve with great intention. Serving your parents at home makes you deeply in love and gentle, and you breathe softly. Habituation is the origin of harmony and temperament. When a king does something, he does not say that the king does not know and is self-indulgent; and if he punishes a man, he does not know and acts as a mighty man. Things are like heaven, ancient personality theory, and so on are the most important to yin and virtue. If you look at the house of filial piety, there are no descendants who are not far away and prosperous, so we must be cautious.

What is reverence for the elders?

Parents or brothers in the family, leaders or chiefs of the country, and all those who are older, moral, more educated than us, should pay special attention and serve carefully.

To serve your parents at home, you must have a deeply loving heart and a gentle face, and your voice should be soft and your breath must be calm. After the habit of kaoru dyeing, it naturally becomes a good disposition, which is the fundamental way to touch the tenshin with harmony.

Serving the chief in the outside world, doing everything, you can't think that the chief will not know, you can be arbitrary.
