According to reports, since 2019, a total of 93 infrared cameras have been installed in the Ailao Mountain National Nature Reserve in Yunnan, and 15 rare and endangered wild mammals have been photographed, including the more precious black bears, yellow-throated martens, crab-eating badgers, etc.; 39 species of birds have been photographed, of which the more rare ones are white-bellied golden pheasants, black-necked long-tailed pheasants, etc. As of December 2020, a total of more than 400 gigabytes of precious videos captured by infrared cameras in the wild have been received, with a total of more than 10,000 pieces.
Yunnan Ailao Mountain National Nature Reserve is located at the junction of three major geographical regions of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Hengduan Mountain and the southern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and belongs to the forest ecosystem type nature reserve. Here is China's largest area, the most complete structure of the Zhongshan wet evergreen broad-leaved forest, wildlife resources are extremely rich, there are "natural museums", "biological species gene bank" and "north-south animal migration corridor" reputation.
In recent years, the Shuangbai Management and Conservation Bureau has carried out investigation and monitoring of wildlife habitat status and population distribution through the implementation of the wildlife extremely small population protection project, formulated corresponding protection plans, and promoted the protection of wild animals. At present, a new round of local green peacock and gibbon background investigation work is being carried out in an orderly manner.
