Wang Yong: I'm with Apple

Wang Yong: I'm with Apple

Wang Yong

Apple is a fruit that the public is familiar with, but my understanding and love of it is more special and has an unforgettable complex.

In the 1960s, I started working with Apple. From 1962 to 1969, in order to help the family earn work, as soon as the school was over, my partner and I insisted on mowing the grass in the production team's breeding room, sometimes going back and forth twice a day. I remember around 1966, the apple orchard of the hometown Hexia team began to hang fruit, spring break we can go to the orchard to cut grass, autumn holiday apples are in the ripening period, the orchard does not allow outsiders to enter, only allow us to mow around the grass, sometimes the management will give us the fallen fruit to eat. In this way, I had a little understanding of apples, and the apple varieties at that time were "Guoguang", with small fruit types and sweet and sour taste.

In 1978, I saw apple orchards on a large scale. In October of that year, shortly after I went to work in the Dali County Committee of the Communist Youth League, the comrades of the Provincial Youth League Committee drove to the county to buy apples for the employees of the organs, and I accompanied them to the familiar Shuangquan Town West Brigade (Xiye Village). At that time, the west brigade was an advanced model of the whole county, and it was also a point directly grasped by the county party committee, and there were cadres stationed in the county party committee organs, and a large apple orchard was built in the village. Entering the apple orchard that day, I was really eye-opening, the apple tree canopy is very large, fruitful. In the orchard, we picked apples and tasted them with the orchard management, and experienced the aroma of the fruit. On this day, I also bought a small box of apples, left some for the office, and brought the others home for the pregnant lover to taste, and she still remembers the scene.

During my work in the provincial department, I have gained a better understanding of the apple industry in Luochuan County. In May 1995, the provincial government held a provincial greening and famine elimination site meeting in Yan'an, and we had the honor to visit the apple orchard in Luochuan County. In 1998 and 1999, I was in charge of the work of the Rural Communist Youth League of the province and gave full support to the "Youth Green Civilization Park" named by the League Central Committee in Luochuan County. The "Civilization Garden" covers an area of 60 acres, planted apples, for the "Zhongqinglong Fruit", which is contracted and managed by Zhao Futai, a young agricultural technician. In the process of contacting and guiding this work, I learned that 1996 to 1999 was the peak period for the development of the apple industry in Luochuan County, and realized that Luochuan County played a good demonstration and driving role in the development of the apple industry in the province and even the whole country, and made positive contributions to Shaanxi becoming a large apple province in the country.

When I was the minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Industry (then called the Ministry of Youth and Agriculture) of the Provincial Youth League Committee, from 1987 onwards, I organized practical technical training for rural youth in various parts of the province. In December 1988, the Provincial Youth League Committee and the Provincial Association for Science and Technology held a special training course on forest fruit technology for rural youth economy in the provincial agricultural school, and many of the members later became local apple farmers. In 1993, during my investigation in the countryside, I visited some apple orchards in Qianxian, Changwu, Longxian, Chengcheng, Fuxian, Fugu, Langao, Shangzhou and other places. During my work in the Provincial Youth League Committee, I participated in the "three rural" meetings held by the provincial government many times and learned about the development of the apple industry in the province.

In recent years, I've made it a habit in my life to eat apples between meals in the morning and afternoon. In my life with my children and grandchildren, I wash and cut apples and put them in a bowl for them to eat. Now, I regard the apple as the "king of fruits" in my life, and at the same time accept the idea that the apple has a certain effect on fighting related diseases, thus further strengthening the belief in eating apples.
