author:CCTV

CCTV news: Sichuan Batang County is a county inhabited by ethnic minorities mainly tibetans, located at the junction of Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet. In May this year, after several voluntary applications, 45-year-old Jiang Wei was finally approved to accompany the sixth batch of Tibet Aid Task Force from Shuangliu District of Chengdu to the Batang County Center for Disease Control and Prevention for counterpart support.

Batang County is located on a plateau, and the local people have long eaten a high-fat, high-calorie and high-salt diet, resulting in frequent chronic diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, and diabetes. According to Jiang Wei, medical personnel in Batang County and medical personnel aiding Tibet have long advocated a low-salt and low-fat diet, standardized drug treatment, and the incidence of chronic diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, and diabetes has declined.

The Tibetan and Han families are close to the Shuangba family

Shuangliu District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, has been helping Batang County for 10 years, and many local people have not only learned Chinese, but also have daily communication. In their work, the Tibetan cadres and masses in Batang also taught Jiang Wei and the team members the Common Tibetan language, taught them to play the Strings of Batang, and invited them to play the dam together and dance on the grassland in their free time.

On July 25, the Chengdu Shuangliu District Tibet Aid Team took a group photo with the people of Yarigong Township after delivering medical treatment and medicine.

In the more than 3 months since Jiang Wei arrived in Batang County, because of the epidemic prevention and control and large-scale vaccination of the new crown vaccine, as well as the delivery of medical and pharmaceutical reasons, he has successively visited 19 township health centers and other medical and health institutions in Batang County.

In Jiang Wei's memory, whenever the Tibet Aid Medical Group went to the countryside, children in Tibetan areas who played or walked on the side of the road would give them a standard Young Pioneer salute, and the masses in Tibetan areas would give them a thumbs up, and many cyclists would also give way to them.

When Jiang Wei first came to batang to work, he did not understand the local climate, and once wore short sleeves to the countryside, and it snowed when he arrived at the mountain health center. Before they entered the health center, they were stopped by the Tibetan villagers at the door.

"I thought he needed me to do something for him, so he went straight into the room and took out a new leather coat and made sure to watch me put it on."

Another time, the medical team went to the village at a higher altitude to get the new crown vaccine, and a Tibetan doctor had motion sickness and altitude sickness, and the local Tibetan brother quickly took out the Tibetan incense powder and lit it for the doctor to inhale, and the sister also poured steaming butter tea. Soon, the Tibetan doctor gradually regained consciousness. Jiang Wei said that the strong national feelings perfectly interpret "the Tibetan and Han families are close, and the Shuangba family is a family."

On June 4, 2021, Dr. Jiang Wei conducted a free consultation for the local people at Cordyceps Mountain, which is about 5,000 meters above sea level.

Free clinic on the road to save people on the mountain

Every year from May to June, local people go to the mountains at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters to dig up cordyceps. In order to ensure the safety of people's lives and health, the Counterpart Assistance Batang Task Force in Shuangliu District of Chengdu will send medical teams several times a year to provide medical services for the local people, carry out free medical activities, distribute free treatment drugs, and patiently answer various health problems of the people who seek medical treatment.

In addition, according to the characteristics of Batang's climate, eating habits, health habits, etc., the medical team also taught the local people health knowledge such as the prevention and control of hypertension and diabetes, and urged them to develop good hygiene habits and establish a healthy lifestyle.

On June 4, Jiang Wei and the medical team encountered an emergency when delivering medicine to the cordyceps mountain at an altitude of 5,000 meters.

"Quick, someone fell." Looking for the sound, Jiang Wei rushed over with an arrow, and it turned out to be a Tibetan youth who had fainted from altitude sickness due to strenuous activities.

Jiang Wei hurried forward to pinch the Tibetan youth "among the people", and at the same time asked the members of the Tibet Medical Aid Group to send oxygen cylinders. After a short rescue, the young man gradually woke up, and the first thing he said when he woke up was "Thank you for your life-saving grace."

Batang County is a vast area, many townships take three or four hours to drive from the county seat, some remote townships need more time, and the county seat takes about 10 hours to drive from the state capital.

After the visit, Jiang Wei found that there is a general shortage of professional medical personnel in township health centers, and many health centers have only 2 to 4 medical personnel, not only to do a good job in epidemic prevention and control, basic public health services, but also to provide basic medical services for local people.

Jiang Wei told reporters that here, many times to see a doctor, examination, dispensing, infusion treatment is done by one person, and when the winter is closed for three to four months of snow, they often need to stick to their jobs.

Two years is too short to do your best

Insufficient manpower and limited equipment are the main problems plaguing medical services in Batang County. He often asks himself, do he have the courage to stick to his job for as long as the local medical staff? If multiple patients turn to for help, do you have the ability to help them? If there is an acutely ill patient who is unable to treat himself, can he ensure that he will escort the patient to a higher-level hospital in a timely and safe manner? He didn't know, but he kept trying his best.

In July this year, the local outbreak of the epidemic, and at this time at the peak of the national highway 318 line ushered in the peak tourism period, resulting in nearly 3,000 passengers stranded in Batang County need to undergo nucleic acid testing, but Batang County medical testing equipment is limited, insufficient manpower. Therefore, the Ganzi Prefecture Center for Disease Control and Prevention urgently dispatched a mobile nucleic acid testing vehicle, equipped with 3 nucleic acid testers, and finally solved the nucleic acid testing needs of stranded passengers after 3 days of hard work.

Jiang Wei instructed the staff of the vaccination site to enter the information materials on the spot.

To this end, Jiang Wei has been thinking about how to rely on public security, fire protection, health, local disasters and other rescue forces, integrate existing resources, establish a unified scheduling mechanism and multiple emergency rescue points, multi-point trigger, point and surface combination, and improve rapid emergency rescue capabilities.

In the more than 3 months since arriving in Batang County, Jiang Wei led the team to participate in the large-scale new crown vaccination work in Batang three times, with a cumulative journey of more than 5,000 kilometers, getting up early and sleeping late, and continuous overtime is the norm.

At 11:00 p.m. on August 5, 2021, a yellow code personnel entered a construction site in Batang County. After hearing the news, Jiang Wei immediately led the emergency team to the construction site. When the scene was disposed of and the protective clothing was taken off, it was already 2 a.m., and then he hurried back to the county CDC to write the day's circulation report, and the end of the work was already 4 a.m. After a short break, he and his colleagues continued to prepare supplies for the next day's sampling work.

Jiang Wei told reporters that the term of office of counterpart support is a short period of 2 years, but according to the actual needs of work, he may actively apply to the organization to extend the time of counterpart assistance, and try his best to help medical personnel in ethnic minority areas improve their medical technology level and equip them with necessary medical equipment.
