Courage to shoulder heavy burdens and become the "doctoral secretary" in private enterprises

In 1999, Chen Jie, who had just received a doctorate in applied psychology from Zhejiang University, rejected the invitation of foreign-funded enterprises and locked his eyes on the soil of private enterprises. He firmly believes that although private enterprises are full of challenges, they are pregnant with infinite vitality, and as long as they work hard, they will have great potential.

Chen Jie initially worked as the manager of the human resources department, and at that time, he "did not think at all about party affairs." In April of the second year of his employment, just as he was "recruiting" for the growth of the enterprise in Chongqing, a phone call came and he was temporarily assigned to the post of party secretary of the group.

From engaging in management work to party building work, for Chen Jie, it was both a bit of an accident and a huge challenge. But Chen Jie said: "Party building meets the needs of the development of the private economy, and the needs of the party are my task." As a party member, I accepted the organizational arrangement. ”

As early as September 1998, Chuanhua Group established the first private enterprise party committee in Zhejiang Province, with 4 party branches and 104 official party members. Chen Jie recalled that in the process of "family workshops" leaping into modern enterprises, Xu Chuanhua, founder of Chuanhua Group, realized that the quality of party members is generally relatively high, with strong ability, willing to bear hardships and willing to take responsibility, and it is necessary to form a party organization in the enterprise to improve the quality of more employees.

Chen Jie realized that Zhejiang private entrepreneurs really identify with and attach importance to party building work. After the relevant procedures, when he took over the baton of the party secretary, it also meant that an exploration and breakthrough had begun.

Chen Jie has always insisted on grasping party building around development, adhering to the principle of "where there are enterprise management organizations, where there is the work coverage of party organizations", building branches to subordinate enterprises and small formations to workshops, the party committee team to provide suggestions and suggestions for the development of enterprises, the management team to provide support for party building work, do a good job of extra-party supervision, Chuanhua Group party organizations in all corners of the enterprise took root, the proportion of party members and employees reached 17.4%.

In view of the problems encountered by enterprises in business development, Chen Jie led the party committee of the group to organize key and difficult projects for party members every year to help enterprises solve the problem of "card neck". In the past three years, more than 200 key projects, 81% of them have been completed by party members, creating economic benefits of nearly 100 million yuan.

Chen Jie led the establishment of the "Wartime Command" and set up 60 party and mass commando teams to help enterprises build defensive lines, guarantee orders, expand the market, and stabilize operations, providing a strong guarantee for the stable and healthy development of enterprises. Chuanhua not only became the first batch of enterprises in Zhejiang to resume work and production, but also achieved "zero infection" for all employees, with the group's total operating income reaching 109.062 billion yuan in 2020, up 17.67% against the trend, and the total profit was 3.841 billion yuan, an increase of 25.72% year-on-year.

Entering a new era, how can enterprise party building work improve quality and efficiency and play an active role? Chen Jie believes that in order for party organizations to become the promoters of enterprise transformation and development, they first need to update their concepts, embrace change, and use bold exploration and innovation to achieve "the transformation and upgrading of party building work".

Chen Jie said that over the past 20 years, Chuanhua has never relaxed its exploration and innovation in the field of party building. The latest "change" was in 2018, and Chuanhua brewed for many years and officially proposed "integrated party building".

"We have opened up the organizational system of party organizations and the organizational system of business organizations at all levels." Chen Jie said that this integration has been up to the branch level, which can be described as solving the problem of "two skins" in party building work and business work.
