CBS television is developing an American version of L.A. Confidential), "Sense8" actor Brian Brian J. Smith will star in the pilot episode.
The series is based on James Ellroy's classic novel of the same name, which was brought to the big screen in 1997. The film version starred Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce and other stars.
The los Angeles secrets feature three murder section cops, a female journalist, and a Hollywood actress, linked by a serial murder that reveals the secrets, intrigues, and lies behind the bustling 1950s Los Angeles.
Brian M J. Smith plays Ed Exley in the play, a role played by Guy Pierce in the film. Ed has a cold personality, authority and intelligence, and is also full of ambition, and at the beginning of the series he is just a Los Angeles uniformed policeman. As the son of former hero Detective Preston Exley, Ed is determined to make a difference and become a detective. Because his deceased brother was favored by his father, Ed was willing to prove himself at all costs and grow up to be a hero in his father's eyes.
Walton Goggins also announced that he would join the series, playing Detective Jack Vincennes.
Jordan Harper will be in charge of writing the screenplay and Michael Dine (Electronic Dreams: The World of Philip Dick) as director, who will serve as executive producer of the series alongside film producer Arnon Milchan.
