On the 21st local time, the agenda of the second day of the 138th IOC Plenary Session was successfully carried out in Tokyo, Japan, and the meeting voted through Brisbane as the host city for the 35th Summer Olympic Games in 2032.

Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee Chairman Seiko Hashimoto issued a statement saying that he sincerely congratulated the people of Brisbane and Australia. She believes that over the past year, the world's sports scene has faced multiple challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, but under the firm leadership of IOC President Thomas Bach, the Olympic Movement has grown steadily and achieved what it has achieved today.

Tokyo 2020 was the first in Olympic history to be postponed – a journey that has never been done before and is challenging. But Hashimoto hopes that the Olympic movement will continue to gain momentum, carrying the legacy accumulated in the Tokyo Olympics from Tokyo to Paris, from Paris to Los Angeles and finally to Brisbane. She said the Tokyo Organising Committee's preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are based on three priority measures: safety and security, promoting gender equality, and creating and leaving a "Tokyo model" for future Olympic Games.

In conclusion, Hashimoto said: "We will continue to be inspired by the core Olympic values to strive for the success of the Olympic Games and to create a better world through the power of sport." (Reporter He Xinlei)
