IOC Vice President Coates and Olympic Organizing Committee President Seiko Hashimoto inspected the gymnastics gymnasium

author:CCTV News

Coates, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Tokyo Olympic Coordination Committee, inspected the Olympic Gymnastics Hall together with Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee Chairman Seiko Hashimoto on the 23rd, and the meeting between the two sides has great symbolic significance as the countdown to the Olympic Games enters one month.

It was Coates' first public event since arriving in Tokyo from Australia, accompanied by Christopher Dolby, executive director of the IOC's Olympic Division. Hashimoto and Coates always maintained a certain distance, and the two sat in the stands and listened to the staff's introduction to the gymnastics gym through the interpreter. The venue staff also detailed to Coates the measures to be taken in the venue during the Olympic Games.

According to the Olympic epidemic prevention regulations, Coates, who arrived in Tokyo on the 15th, needs to quarantine at the hotel for three days, and can only go to the area of the pre-reported area for 14 days, and cannot contact the Japanese public. For the sake of epidemic prevention, Coates and Dolby did not give any interviews after inspecting the gymnastics gymnasium and left by car.

The Tokyo Organising Committee has arranged such a half-hour inspection on the day of the countdown month, apparently to convey to the world that the Olympic Games are ready. Although the construction of sites such as BMX around the gym is still under intense construction.

Coates will remain in Japan until the olympics open, overseeing preparations for the final month of the games.
