Beijing Opera House held a special performance to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the birth of Mr. Zhang Xuejin

This year marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of Peking Opera master Mr. Ma Lianliang, as well as the 80th anniversary of the birth of Mr. Zhang Xuejin, a disciple of Ma Lianliang. The press conference on "Special Performance to Commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Birth of Mr. Zhang Xuejin" sponsored by the Beijing Opera House was recently held. Ma Lianliang's daughter, Mei Lanfang's disciple, the famous Peking Opera performance artist Ma Xiaoman, the famous Jinghu performer Yan Shouping, Ma Lianliang's grandson, ma Long, the head of the Ma Lianliang Art Research Association; Zhang Xuejin's disciples Zhu Qiang, Mu Yu, Wang Jinzhong, and Song Haoyu, as well as leaders of the Beijing Opera House, all attended the ceremony.

The "Series of Activities to Commemorate the 120th Anniversary of the Birth of Peking Opera Master Mr. Ma Lianliang" carefully planned by the Beijing Opera House has been successfully held from April 14 to 18. The "Special Performance to Commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Mr. Zhang Xuejin's Birth" will kick off in August at the Chang'an Grand Theatre, and the Beijing Xiqu Art Development Foundation has given strong support to this special performance. On August 27, the representative classic play "The Orphan of Zhao" will be performed; on August 28, It will perform Mr. Zhang Xuejin's masterpiece "Finishing Touches" that inherits and promotes the art of Ma Pai; and on August 29, the "Peking Opera Masters Concert to Commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Mr. Zhang Xuejin's Birth" will be held. After that, there will also be a solo performance by Song Haoyu and a special performance by Zhang Kai, which will comprehensively show the depth and breadth of Ma Pai art through four generations and orderly inheritance at the Beijing Opera House. The theater will also hold a seminar on the theme of "Special Performance in Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Birth of Mr. Zhang Xuejin", inviting senior experts in the field of opera studies, scholars of Ma Pai art, disciples of Ma Pai and others to discuss topics such as the contemporary promotion of Ma Pai art.

Liu Tong, president of beijing peking opera house, said in his speech that Mr. Zhang Xuejin is a famous descendant of the Ma Pai of the Beijing Opera House, and also an important talent after the establishment of the Beijing Opera House, and has made indelible contributions to the construction of the theater and the contemporary inheritance of the Peking Opera Ma Pai art in the more than 40 years of development history of the Beijing Opera Theatre. In the annual series of performance activities of "Ji Ma" of Beijing Opera House, in order to fully display the achievements of the contemporary inheritance of Ma Pai art, Zhu Qiang, who is the leading actor of Beijing Peking Opera, a famous artist of Ma Pai and a disciple of Mr. Zhang Xuejin, actively promoted this special performance, and will lead a number of Mr. Zhang Xuejin's disciples to jointly thank their mentors and promote the inheritance and dissemination of Ma Pai art with practical actions.
