TAE applies convergent power technology to electric vehicle charging

author:Energy News Network

Fusion development company TAE Technologies has formed a division to implement its technology in electric vehicle (EV) charging.

TAE applies convergent power technology to electric vehicle charging

The U.S.-based company initially developed energy storage technology for fusion energy research. Fusion requires the accumulation of a large amount of energy to trigger a reaction, usually using bulk capacitors. TaE says its power management system can store large amounts of electrical energy "intermittently" and then release it in "precise, high-power" increments.

The system will replace the use of converters to connect grid energy and electric vehicle energy storage. It will use a proprietary energy storage unit on chargers and vehicles.

TAE will also seek to develop the technology into stationary commercial and residential power storage units. In addition, the technology can also be applied to photovoltaic solar power generation.

The company statement said it had "advanced discussions with the world's leading automakers and fuel retailers." The Power Management Department plans to generate revenue through licensing and partnership agreements starting in 2022.

David Roberts, CEO of the new power management division, said: "The power management system will revolutionize the electric vehicle mobility market while significantly reducing operating costs. Not only has it made huge strides in accelerating commercial fusion power generation, but the direct application of this technology will also drive everything from utility transmission to the efficiency of electric vehicles. ”
