Yangzi Evening News Network, October 26 (Reporter Liu Xiaopu) The "2021 North Bund International Shipping Forum" co-sponsored by the Ministry of Transport and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government will be held on November 3-5 in the North Bund in Hongkou District. With the theme of "Openness and Inclusiveness, Innovation and Change, Win-win Cooperation - Future-oriented Development and Restructuring of the International Shipping Industry", the forum will release the 2021 Shanghai Initiative, calling on the global shipping industry to coordinate actions to jointly achieve intelligent, green and sustainable development, work together to cope with the epidemic, and contribute to global economic recovery. The forum will be conducted in strict accordance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, and adopt a combination of online and offline forms.
At the press conference of the North Bund International Shipping Forum held on the morning of October 26, the reporter learned that shipping, as an important part of the comprehensive transportation system, undertakes more than 95% of China's international trade transportation, is an important basic, pioneering, strategic and service industry, and is also an important field that supports China's all-round, all-field, deep-level, high-level opening up and high-quality construction of the "Belt and Road".
In recent years, China's shipping industry has made remarkable achievements:
First, the size of the fleet and port ranks among the top in the world. By the end of 2020, the controlled capacity of China's maritime fleet will reach 310 million dwt, ranking second in the world. The scale of ship capacity operated by COSCO SHIPPING Group and China Merchants Group has reached the first and second places of global comprehensive shipping enterprises respectively. China has become the country with the highest degree of maritime connectivity in the world, and the maritime service network connects major ports in more than 100 countries and regions. In 2020, among the top 10 ports in the world in terms of cargo throughput and container throughput, Chinese ports accounted for 8 and 7 seats respectively.
Second, the competitiveness of shipping has been significantly enhanced. The international shipping industry has achieved full opening up to the outside world, relying on free trade ports and free trade zones to carry out a series of shipping system and policy innovations and replicate and promote them nationwide, and the level of transportation facilitation has been significantly improved. The Shanghai International Shipping Center has been basically completed, and the modern shipping service system such as shipping transactions, shipping finance and insurance, maritime arbitration, shipping and legal information services has been continuously improved, and the "soft power" of shipping has been continuously enhanced. In the 2020 Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index report, Shanghai International Shipping Center ranked among the top three in the world for the first time, and the ability to allocate global shipping resources was significantly improved. Dalian, Tianjin, Xiamen and other regional shipping centers showed an accelerated development trend.
Third, scientific and technological innovation has reached the world's advanced level. The Beidou system was officially incorporated into the global radio navigation system, becoming the third maritime satellite navigation system recognized by the International Maritime Organization after the US GPS and the Russian GLONAS system. The world's largest and most advanced Yangshan Deepwater Port Phase IV fully automated container terminal has been built, achieving a major breakthrough in independent integration and innovation. High-performance transportation equipment technology with independent intellectual property rights such as port machinery and large-depth saturation diving at sea has reached the world's leading level. By 2020, a total of 9 automated container terminals will be built and 7 are under construction, and the "Liangang Innovation Team" of the times has emerged, leading the new trend of smart ports in the world.
