What kind of picture books adults want to see, come here to know.
200 Sino-Norwegian art picture books are waiting for you here!
Work, date, drink, sleep... Are you tired of a three-point line, a ruled, and a well-behaved life? If you are also a boring adult who is accustomed to rational thinking, please be sure to hand over a summer afternoon and watch the "Free-style" picture book with us! Why do fairy tales belong only to children? No matter how old you are, being able to fall down the rabbit hole like Alice is always something you can't ask for.
From August 24th to 26th, Meridian will hold the third "One-Man" Picture Book Exhibition, continuing to share the wildest and freest original picture books in China, showing the experimental and artistic nature of independent picture books. What is different from the previous edition is that this "One Man" picture book exhibition, together with the Norwegian cross-cultural institution Northing, invited several picture book artists from Norway in the snow country with distinctive styles and local reputations to the exhibition site, and they will bring nearly 100 works and 100 original art picture books from China to jointly exhibit!

I want to roam the fairytale world of Bergen with you
Six Norwegian artists came to Silgen, a small fjord town with a population of less than 300,000, perhaps because their lives are like living in paintings, and the people here seem to have their own childlike temperament, and when they see their works, they can feel the pure coolness of the ice and snow country.

Åshild Kanstad Johnsen
Osel Constell Johansen
The creator of the popular Norwegian muva, illustrator and children's book writer Osel Konsta Johansen, grew up on a hillside in the Bergen Mountains. Bergen's climatic and geomorphological features have created a unique perspective on things and given her work a distinctive character that makes her one of the most iconic Norwegian illustrators. Her sketchbook is full of Norwegian rock trees, fjord scenery and unique wooden structures. His children's picture book Kiwa series was a hit in kawaii Japan, and was made into animated shorts by the Japanese animation company Echoes, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art held a unique museum exhibition for Kiwa.
You'll meet the artist Åshild Kanstad Johnsen's little wooden doll who thinks about it— a small stake that likes to pack things, has love, is warm and full of curiosity.
Gunvor Rasmussen
Gonwall Rasmussen
Gong Woer, a Norwegian illustrator who lives in a fairy tale world, has created a fairytale life for himself in the fjord town of Bergen. Winner of the Silver Award for Norway's Most Beautiful Book twice, the blonde illustrator Gong Woer Rasmussen, whose work is in the official collection of the Norwegian Cultural Council, has his own personal gallery in the spire cabin of the World Heritage Site Bryggen Pier, and rides the same magical bicycle from the adventures of Pive (Tim Burton's debut) every day through the coastal mountain town of Bergen, loving magic, games, zombies, monsters, mythology, wine, music and everything else that requires imagination. Two collections of Nynorsk children's stories she's illustrated this summer, Fairy Tale Book and Monster Book, will hit China, and she herself will come to Beijing to share her fairy tale world for younger readers.
If you love magic and piracy, you will meet Gunvor Rasmussen, the founder of the Nordic Academy of Magic, an illustrator who came out of a fairy tale world, and she will tell you how she used a "unicorn" illustration poster to fight racial discrimination and ultra-nationalism; she will also tell you how the real pirates enjoyed life at the Brygan Pirate Festival she launched...

Imi Maufe
Imi Maughfield
Imi Maufi (born 1974) is from Norfolk, England, and settles in Bergen, Norway. In 2004 she obtained a master's degree in printmaking from the University of the West of England in Bristol, UK. Since 2009, she has been a member of the Bergen Studio Alliance, founded by artists. This time, Imi will bring a series of books that translate the trip into paper, as well as a set of books to eat. Walking, busing, cycling, boating, and even swimming are recorded in the simplest images and texts to convey the essence of the travel experience to the reader.

Imi's work: Postcards at sea
Artwork: The taste of books
Imi's keen observational abilities and ingenious conceptual conception always show us another Nordic landscape from a natural and unexpected perspective. Her playfulness is brought to full play in her edible book series, where she carves a traditional Nordic food, crispy bread, into exquisite words to invite readers to taste.
Kay Arne Kirkebø
Kay Arna Shekbetsu
Kai Arna Schekebe (born 1979) is from the small coastal town of Førø on the west coast of Norway. He graduated from the Bergen State Academy of Art and Design in 2014 with a master's degree and has since stayed in Bergen. He was once part of the artist's collective studio Isotopes, but now has his own independent studio. Like all older boys of the same age at the junction of 70-80, Kay grew up with the exponential growth of video game graphic pixels and memory. In a time when video games are increasingly pursuing realism and virtual reality, Kay seems to miss the era when analog isometric isometric screens were full. Growing up, he finally couldn't be satisfied with the fun of creating the world in "Virtual City" and "Violent Syndicate", but took the simplest tools: rulers, pencils, ballpoint pens, and needle pens, and magically created his own world on a blank piece of paper.

Swan Strickson
Swan Strickson is the oldest of the artists visiting China and the artist and publisher with the most ties to China. After graduating from the Oslo Academy of Art, he worked as an illustrator and graphic designer, and his early works were heavily influenced by European hand-signage and poster art. In 2007, he founded Magikon Publishing House with his lover, which mainly publishes visual books such as picture books, art books, and photo albums. His goal is to develop high-quality children's and adult books that combine the pleasure of reading and the visual experience. The latest work, Paper Pilot, was created by Sturxon himself to create all the collage illustrations, and won the Norwegian Gold Award for the Most Beautiful Book of the Year. In addition, Magikon Publishing House may be the most copyrighted picture book publisher that sells to China.

Fredrik Rysjedal
Frederick Rüsserdal
The first norwegian Fanzine, a comic artist from Bergen, Norway, and a central figure in the culture of Bergen Independent Comics and Independent Magazines. He is currently engaged in art research at the National Academy of Art and Design in Bergen on the subject of electronic comics using the screen as a carrier. His personal creations are experimental, including live comic performances with Norwegian musicians such as "Closer, Closer, Closer", "The Sound of Aurora". He is also the founder and organizer of important cultural events such as the Bergen Art Book Fair (BABF), the Draft Comics Festival, and the Night of Bergen Independent Magazine, which have gradually made Bergen a cultural hub for Norwegian comic culture and independent publishing.
He also published two electronic comics in practice: the autobiographical comic "Closer, Closer, Closer", which the Bergen Times called "Closer, Closer, Closer" the first norwegian comic to use sound, music and dynamics.
His live comic strip performance, The Sound of Aurora, used the famous Norwegian experimental band 1982, and the music, sound effects and vocal readings used on the scene were all improvised in close conjunction with the dynamic comics on the screen, and watching a live comic was no less than a small experimental rock concert.
He will play the live comic performance to the extreme, on the opening day of the exhibition on August 23, you can come to the time difference space to immerse yourself in these two electronic comics + electronic music live performance, click "Read the original article" to buy VIP preview tickets, you can watch the movie, come to our opening party
