What's there to write about walking? Think about it, especially with a serious finger to think, hey, it's really interesting!
If you walk ten miles in the city, how many people can you meet head-on? How many cars will pass by? How many shops will pass on both sides? How many high-rise buildings? The answer could be nearly 10,000 people? Thousands of cars? Hundreds of shops and dozens of buildings?

Walking in the city is indeed a bit interesting, but in the Qinling Mountains, after ten miles of walking, it is far less exciting. There was almost nothing on the road, except motionless mud, trees, weeds, and the occasional mountain dweller and a road that stretched into the distance.

There are many thin roads over the mountains in the Qinling Mountains, which one to write? This time it mainly writes about the road of the Southern Ditch of Qinling, a simple dirt road.
How many people think that the Qinling Mountains are full of mountains, forests, and rivers, but in fact, there have been people living inside, and there are many ordinary Qinling people's homes, which once became thousands, tens of thousands, and the number is uncountable, but now it is getting less and less.
At the mouth of the South Ditch, the small house on the mountainside was like a dwelling place for the gods. The red-topped white walls seem to have been recently groomed. If someone takes care of it, there must be people living there.
Is it an elderly couple, or a big family that is happy and harmonious? The answer is unknown, because on the day of the search for Nangou, I was lazy and did not climb up, and everything could only rely on imagination.
What a shame! I deliberately left regrets!

We continued to walk inside, gradually entering the depths of the South Ditch. Not far away, motorcycles were coming, and the roar of the engines had been heard.
When walking in the mountains, when they hear a car coming behind them, people tend to stop and stand silly and wait for the other party to drive past. When people go far, they will continue to look at each other's backs until the car has completely disappeared from view, and then they will continue on the road sadly.
This is completely a conditioned reflex of people in the mountains. If you think about it, everyone is like this.
It's even more interesting to see someone coming up the road ahead.
At this time, I must be thinking: Who is the other party? Will it just happen to be acquaintance? When they got closer to each other, they couldn't stop thinking: Do you want to say hello? What's the point?
But if you change the environment, it is in the flow of people in the city, although there are so many people around you, who deserves your thoughts? Who deserves a serious hello?

"How old is the child?" In the distance, an old man and a young man came, looking like grandchildren. The clothes worn by the elderly, which should have been left by their children, were very fashionable and fashionable, so they did not look so old.
"Five and a half years old!" However, as soon as the other party opened her mouth, she knew that she had actually experienced the vicissitudes of the years.
"Kindergarten?" Looking at the appearance of the little one, it should be school, we asked tentatively.
"On!" The other party answered crisply and neatly.
People walk in the mountains, meet each other, and always say hello when there is no word. As for the topic, it was almost blurted out. Ask the child with the child, see the back of the back of the question.
It's not like in town, people meet, and the opening is often asked about the weather! It's hot or not, is it raining, is this unclear? What's there to say? Asking such a question feels very hypocritical!

The grandson who had just passed by had walked away, and he did not expect that there was a small white dog behind him.
The little white dog's coat is long and dirty. When the puppy saw us, he was very nervous and did not want to lose the owner in front of him. It is difficult to choose whether to advance or retreat.
We took the initiative to stand on the side of the road and stop to make way for the puppy. We are passers-by, and they are the owners of this ravine.
Watching the figures of the grandparents and grandchildren, and the furry puppy, gradually shrink and drift away, until they disappeared into the corner of the road, Nangou returned to calm again, as if nothing had happened.
Such a road, as long as there are still people who have walked, will have the appearance of a road, once no one walks, it will not take long, it will be flooded by wild grass, drowned in endless time and space.

In the south ditch, there are very few people living there, often walking a mile, or farther, to see a house. Most of these houses left in the mountains are empty. Like the opposite building, which is still inhabited, it is actually a minority.
In front of this house, the hostess sat by the gate, and in the land at the door, the corn stalks fell to the ground, and it seemed that the master had just finished his labor and was resting. There are also two words posted next to the door, when was it pasted? How long has this wedding been going on?
While he was pondering, a pickup truck sped past. The man sitting on top of the co-pilot shouted at us, "There's a road being built inside, and there's another family building." ”
We walked ten miles in Nangou, which was the only four-wheeled thing we encountered on the road.
"Okay, you go first, we'll walk over and have a look!" We shouted at the people in the car.
Is the other person greeting us? Why should we respond to this statement? Walking in the mountains, it is so lonely, no matter who you see, you have the urge to speak.

The road in Nangou is ten miles long. Seven miles ahead, the government had widened and was ready to harden. The next three miles, because there are few people, there is no intention of hardening.
Villagers have hired an excavator at their own expense and are simply leveling the unhardened pavement. When the little master of the excavator saw us, he took the initiative to stop the fire, jumped out of the car, and shyly asked us: "What are you here to play?" ”
Perhaps, if the cat could speak, it would ask the same question: "What's fun in this ditch if you don't eat or drink?" "In literary and artistic terms, I would reply like this: I did not walk in a distant village, but returned to my hometown.
The idea of this sentence is very beautiful, and I later printed it on the cover of my published essay collection "Walking in the Far Village". Although Qinling is not my hometown, the living conditions of the Qinling mountain people seem to be a reproduction of my childhood life!
Passing through a small ditch and encountering a crab, it's just that it walks differently than we do, it walks sideways.

On the hillside low by the roadside, there are many tall deciduous trees, and the sharp-eyed friends must have seen it long ago, it is a chestnut tree, and the branches are full of green chestnut balls.
Chestnuts are things that we can touch anytime and anywhere when we walk in Nangou, all over the mountains. This season's Qinling Mountains, the largest and most valuable mountain goods in the mountains, is this chestnut.
Friend W stood on the side of the road, reached out and touched the chestnut ball, and suddenly shrank his hand back like lightning. "Oops! There are thorns! Good hand! "Chestnuts are delicious chestnut balls and hard to pick, sweet and soft chestnuts not only have shells, but also are wrapped in a needle-like coat!
There are 22 chestnut balls in this photo, of which the chestnut ball in the lower right corner has cracked, and the chestnut has already fallen to the ground. The three or five chestnut balls in the middle are about to split, and the chestnuts inside are fully ripe. The remaining other chestnuts will be fully ripe within a week.
Villagers told us that chestnuts are abundant in Ningshan, and the annual output of the Nangou ditch alone is nearly 20 tons.
If you average to each household, you can almost collect thousands of pounds. Last year's price was 5 yuan per kilogram, and if you calculate carefully, everyone's income is not bad.
I plucked the dry grass from the ground, picked up a chestnut, and gently placed it in my hand. On the outside of the dark brown chestnuts, there is also a layer of fine soft fluff, which is the freshest chestnut. Fresh chestnuts are not actually sweet, and they are sweetened when dried.
Behind the old house, on the steep uphill slope, the whole slope is full of chestnut trees. It seems that the production of 20 tons of chestnuts in Nangou is not false.

Suddenly, inside the chestnut grove, a puff of green smoke rose. The wind blew the smoke away, and the ditch was suddenly filled with a faint smell of fireworks.
There were no houses there, it wasn't like someone was cooking on a fire, and the smoke was so big that it couldn't be kitchen smoke. Could it be that there was a mountain fire, but the villagers working in the nearby fields were not in a hurry, and looked completely fine.
Look closely, there is still an open fire in the forest, although the fire is not large, but the flames are burning vigorously.
"It's all right, it's not a fire, it's burning weeds in the woods!" The villagers told us, "To collect chestnuts, you have to clean up the grass in the chestnut forest, so that it is convenient to beat chestnuts, or it is not easy to pick them up!" "As it was, we were worried about it in vain.
Sure enough, looking closely at the chestnut forest on the side of the road, all under the trees was cleared, and the grass was cut down, and it had withered yellow and covered the ground. Some of the uphill trails have been remodeled to make them easier to walk.
Deep in the south ditch, the road is still extending, and if you go inside, what else can you encounter?
