Ji Zhentong (1901-1934), formerly known as Zhen Tong, hanqing, number written. A native of Cangxian County, Hebei Province. In 1919, he went to Beiping to make a living, joined Feng Yuxiang's troops in the same year, and was sent to the Baoding Army Officer School to study. After graduation, he successively served as a company commander, battalion commander, regimental commander, pistol brigade commander, division commander and other positions. In September 1926, Wuyuan took the oath of division and participated in the Northern Expedition. After the Battle of the Central Plains, the unit was reorganized into the Seventy-fourth Brigade of the Twenty-sixth Route Army of the National Revolutionary Army, and he served as the brigade commander. In December 1931, dissatisfied with Chiang Kai-shek's anti-communist policies, under the leadership of the Party, together with Zhao Bosheng and Dong Zhentang, he launched the Ningdu Uprising and served as the commander-in-chief of the rebel army. The unit was reorganized into the Fifth Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, with the commander-in-chief. In January 1932, he was introduced by Zhu De and Zhou Enlai and joined the Communist Party of China. In March of the same year, he led the Fifth Army to reinforce Ganzhou, forcing the enemy to retreat. In April, he led the Red Fifth Army and the Red First Army to form the Eastern Route Army and participated in the Eastern Expedition to The Battle of Zhangzhou, Fujian. In July, he led his troops to defeat the Guangdong warlord Chen Jitang at Shuikou. Influenced by the "Left" line within the Party, he was mistakenly killed in the autumn of 1934. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, he was rehabilitated.
